Does anyone else have any same-factory/producer tips?

Rubinstein was withdrawn from the UK in 2005, but does not change the L'Oreal trickle down model. It's a popular high end brand elsewhere in Europe.

Greythorne · 26/07/2015 14:17

YSL And Armani are also part of the L'Oreal Group.

SnapesCapes · 26/07/2015 15:24

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you Greythorne on the Kerastase thing. I have floofy, Bee Gee hair that's halfway down my back. Other supermarket and salon-bought shampoos are useless. Kerastase Anti-Usure (the green one) is the only thing I can consistently rely upon to leave my hair soft, shiny and strong. Nothing else I've ever tried comes close.

Greythorne · 26/07/2015 15:27

Snapes
I do take your point. My hair is fine and straight. Very boring uncomplicated. No shampoo, not Tesco's Own label or Keratase's top of the range change anything about my hair.

But you are right....some hair can benefit from extra silicone for its smoothing properties and you might get s better result with a pricier brand.

SnapesCapes · 26/07/2015 15:29

I had no idea that so few groups owned so many brands, though. It's a huge eye-opener.

Fairylea · 26/07/2015 16:03

What I also find amusing is how so often on these pages someone will come along and swear blind that a consultant from Mac or Lauder is ten times better than one from Clinique for example. All of the consultants who work for Estee Lauder and all its companies are all trained at the same head office by the same people, using their own brands products but the basics are the same. So if a particular consultant is better than another it is usually down to their own flair, not the product / make up training. I've been trained by lots of brands and the training has all been pretty much the same!

CalmYoBadSelf · 26/07/2015 16:07

At one time Boots Protect And Perfect had identical ingredients, bar one very minor difference, to their Time Delay serum which sold for half the price of the hyped brand

Chchchchanging · 27/07/2015 22:57

Ok I know about this but it's not the same to same same factory same product
On same basis you can buy smart price normal or posh food supermarket branded food but all in same shop...
It varies on ingredient qualities and research invested into getting the results

Dowser · 28/07/2015 05:40

Has anyone actually tried putting Nivea on their face? We were away and I'd forgotten my usual moisturiser and found a small tub of Nivea in my case. It was like putting lard on it. It felt so heavy and so unnatural. I'm sure it works as it puts such a thick film on your face it prevents moisture seeping out rather than putting moisture in.

I actually prefer the one I make myself. It won't suit everyone I know but I know most of the ingredients in there.

AnonyMusty · 28/07/2015 05:54

How do you make yours, Dowser?

yazzy85 · 28/07/2015 08:21

Having tried bourjois cc cream and foundations I do prefer them over more expensive bases in my stash whether it be dior, estee lauder, lancome etc..

FrugalFashionista · 28/07/2015 11:55

I've used two Bourjois foundations and agree - they are deeply meh. Something I'll eventually use up but no I don't love wearing them (right now using one of them up as undereye coverage). I also have a Bourjois blusher in Rose d'or but I much prefer Chanel Narcisse.

SwedishEdith · 28/07/2015 11:59

Try the Nivea soft - much easier and dead cheap in Qualty Save etc. I thought moisturiser was supposed to work by keeping moisture in though and not adding it?

JanKind · 13/02/2017 11:43

A good friend of mine used to have the advertising account for Chanel and she confirmed that the eye shadows, blushers and powders are the same

NomDePlumeReloaded · 13/02/2017 11:55

I don't get on with the bourjois 'little round pot' baked blushes. I find they 'seal over' and get a shiny film on them (apparently from oils from the skin) which makes the already feeble pigment even more difficult to get on the brush. It's a hazard with the drier baked formulas but I find Chanel baked blushes don't do it as quickly.

MrsMeeseeks · 13/02/2017 12:03

Creme de la Mer is supposed to be the same as Nivea (blue pot)

How are they 'the same'?

CoolCarrie · 13/02/2017 12:11

Creme de la mer is over hyped rubbish, used it in once and ended up with loads of spots, used it on my legs which was fine.

CoolCarrie · 13/02/2017 12:14

Read a book called L'Oreal Stole My House, now that is an eye opener!

RockyBird · 13/02/2017 12:24

This Morning years and years ago had a dermatologist on who had results of a study on ingredients of skincare products. They concluded that Nivea (blue pot) and Creme de la Mer were identical in every way other than perfume.

Back when that aired I was into the high end products so that item definitely saved me a few ££

I like the blue pot Nivea as a night cream as it is thick and greasy and the soft cream for day, as it is light and absorbs quickly.

After a recommendation on here I use Bourjois healthy foundation which is lovely.

Nyx cosmetics are all dupes for high end equivalents. The sales assistant in Boots was more than happy to tell me what was what at her counter and my daughter was very happy with her goody bag from there at Xmas.

Shukinskaya · 13/02/2017 12:28

Dowser I use Nivea Blue every night. I love it, it leaves my skin looking plump and glowy. I started using it after I read a compare and contrast type feature with it and creme de la mer and it came out on top. It is far too heavy for daytime use though so I use a different one in the morning.

LoupGarou · 13/02/2017 12:37

These days I stick to Wet n Wild, NYX, Pixi, and Milani cosmetics, with some Benefit thrown in. Wet n Wild lipsticks are amazing, long lasting, dont dry lips oit and don't bleed, and almost all their shades are MAC dupes, plus they are less than 2 dollars each.
NYX blushers are brilliant and they have a lot of Nars and MAC dupes, their pot concealer is also excellent and a dupe of Benefit's erase paste.

LoupGarou · 13/02/2017 12:39

Think I might have a go using nivea blue at night after this thread Smile

Laiste · 13/02/2017 12:51

Astral is a lot lighter than Nivea blue. It spreads easier and just feels less thick.

And i'm sure i read that Astral came 3rd after Nivea and Creme DLM in some top test.

EsmeWeatherwax · 13/02/2017 13:01

My mother uses astral every day, and at the ripe old age of 75 looks about 50. It's good stuff! I'm allergic to it, unfortunately!

Lottapianos · 13/02/2017 13:08

Astral is glorious stuff, have used it for years

Loup, where do you buy your Wet n Wild and Milani products?
