Honest opinions please - my wedding dress

Have NC

I'm having doubts about my dress, mainly because I've been to 3 weddings recently where the bride has spent hundreds on their dress and I've spent less than £120 and only now have I realised you can probably tell.

The dress fits lovely and I'm getting nice shoes but I can't help shake the feeling people will think it looks cheap because it is cheap

If it helps I'm 5'10 and a slim size 12

Here is the link

Feeling stressed this evening worrying about it - wish wed disappeared somewhere and got married on our own so I didn't have 100 odd people looking at me

Gorgeous dress

You will be RADIANT

desperatehousewife2 · 27/06/2015 23:05

I live it, it's absolutely gorgeous!

BrideNotSoZilla · 27/06/2015 23:05

We've been together nearly 10 years mistress so hoping for longevity!

Worried abit about the length, because of my height but I'm shoe shopping tomorrow so hopefully will fine something to keep it to the floor.

What sort of shoe do you have in mind?

YouMakeMyDreams · 27/06/2015 23:20

That was one of my options as well but I went with another bhs one. Grin
I obviously love it.
I went to a bridal shop and tried on all the big heavy dresses and honestly felt meh about them. Think I offended the person by saying they all look the same. Because they were.
So I went home and spent over an hour on the phone with my mum both googling styles and ended up on the bhs site and found several I loved. Decided on the one I ordered and love it. Like yours it is elegant, it suits me and the friends who have seen it all love it. Most of all I'm comfortable in it.
You will look gorgeous I'm sure.Smile

Stunning and elegant. How do you feel in it?

Weebirdie · 27/06/2015 23:27

Its lovely and if it makes you feel better I saw it recently in a newspaper article where it came out ahead of much pricier gowns.

You're going to be absolutely radiant on the day.

BrideNotSoZilla · 27/06/2015 23:29

Are you me youmake?! I too offended a couple of bridal shop owners with my snub of every dress put my way; they looked the same - either strapless, waisted with frills or lace, kate Middleton style.

I actually got this from a charity shop, not even the BHS shop Shock Blush and didn't pay full price at all Wink

mistress shoes may be Jimmy Choos which kind of puts the whole cheap dress look aside Grin I always 'joked' I wanted some as they're completely extravagant and something I wouldn't buy but when I was shopping for the dress I couldn't believe how much dresses were when you wear them once. With some JC, I could wear them time and time again....that's my theory and I'm sticking to it. I'm not 100% sure but off shopping tomorrow to at least try on.

That dress is beautiful and with your figure it will look fantastic.

The only thought I've ever had at a wedding about the price of the bride's dress was one where I thought if she'd spent £1k less on the dress and £1k more on the drink and food her guests would have had a much better memories of the day.

BrideNotSoZilla · 27/06/2015 23:35

purple we've put all the budget in to the drink and food accept the shoes! Grin

jimmy choo shoes louise

Ooooooh, Choos! You are totally right.

You saved on the dress so go bananas on the shoes. :o

Something like these would be nice. Medium heel.

pollyisnotputtingthekettleon · 27/06/2015 23:42

My dress was £90 and it fitted beautifully and hid the right bits :) ... I think for your hight this will look stunning. Go and try it on again!!! Any excuse.

MistressMerryWeather · 27/06/2015 23:43

WHITE&start=5&searchgridpos=5&srule=Merchandising Or these

I could spend all night on this site.

BrideNotSoZilla · 27/06/2015 23:58

I have spent many nights on the site Grin
I called ahead so they have my size in stock for the first link you posted, the louise and another pair. I like that second link now too!

MistressMerryWeather · 28/06/2015 00:07

I was just about to post the Louise!

I really like them, even better than the first ones actually but the heel height may be an issue. That little buckle is so lovely though.

You have some tough choices! :o

winterland · 28/06/2015 00:08

not keen, but im sure it will look lovely

annandale · 28/06/2015 00:12

I think it's gorgeous - you've managed to find something that looks classic but modern which is quite a trick. I agree re the jewelled clip and maybe a slightly 40s vibe to your makeup? Thinking Rita Hayworth.

Even with the Jimmy Choos you will still spend less on your outfit than I did on mine, and I thought mine was good value 10 years ago.

Have a wonderful day :)

Orangedandelion · 28/06/2015 00:14

Looks really lovely not at all cheap, very classy.

Agrestic · 28/06/2015 00:17

Love it!

butterfly133 · 28/06/2015 00:21

I love it! One of the best dresses I've seen was about that price. Price doesn't mean the nicest dress by any means.

almondcakes · 28/06/2015 00:34

It is beautiful. My friend was your height and dress size. She got a 'cheap' dress for her wedding and looked absolutely amazing.

Yours is one of the nicest wedding dresses I have seen.

DonttouchthatLarry · 28/06/2015 00:43

It's lovely, very classy and elegant. My Monsoon dress was off ebay for the extortionate amount of £29.99 and I had nothing but compliments about it.
