1990s flashback - the bodysuit!

I know this will probably be greeted with revulsion and contemptuous pity, but can you still get these anywhere? I need something along these lines to fit under a slim fitting skirt. I'm obviously no good at tucking myself in because I usually look like a bag of spuds.

Its a blouse or shirt style I'm after, by the way, not a body con lace number. Those definitely still exist but .

No, just no, the VPL will be hideous and having to fasten up the babygros things will be terrible.

Trills · 11/06/2015 21:41

Blouse or shirt style?

I don't remember that EVER existing, only tight stretchy types.

MsBojangles · 11/06/2015 21:43

I saw one!

It was recently online, Zara maybe?

Pointlessfan · 11/06/2015 21:45

I can't help but I stupidly wore one to go horse riding once. What an uncomfortable experience that was!

ManicPixieDream · 11/06/2015 21:45

Think I may have seen some in H &M. I chuckled and moved on.

TheImminentGin · 11/06/2015 21:47

Saw hideously expensive ones in local posh department store by the hosiery company......eh.......it'll come to me.

sighbynight · 11/06/2015 21:47

They DID exist for sure. I had one. Cream silk - it was lovely!

I don't think it was Zara - all the bodysuits there are for babies. But thank you!

Donna Karan always does them they are her signature, and I think Wolford too. I have always loved them, would not go anywhere near lacy ones though.

sighbynight · 11/06/2015 21:48

Wolford perhaps?

OP posts:
TheImminentGin · 11/06/2015 21:50

Wolford! www.wolfordshop.com/bodysuits/cp61080/cl1/vt01/

sighbynight · 11/06/2015 21:50

Its to go under a full length silk skirt for a ball. I don't want to wear a "ballgown" because I'm too old for the princessy shit - but I want smooth lines. I'll see what I can see at Donna Karan and Wolford...

OP posts:
sighbynight · 11/06/2015 21:52

Good Lord, those Wolford models are intimidating.

OP posts:
Elliptic5 · 11/06/2015 21:57

I used to love mine but I would never pay those prices Shock.

sassytheFIRST · 11/06/2015 21:59

Makes me have a flashback to the night I came out of student union bogs having done my poppers up outside my jeans. Mortifying.

sighbynight · 11/06/2015 22:04

Donna Karan ones are even more expensive...

SummersSomewhere · 11/06/2015 22:08

Next www.next.co.uk/g1z26s1#755717g6z not a shirt style though.

Mogz · 11/06/2015 22:10

I had a nice black blouse one from asos last year, like you OP didn't want go down the ball gown route but needed something that would give the right look.

sighbynight · 11/06/2015 22:12

I've found this site. American, but they ship to the UK.

www.tuxebodywear.com

I may well do this.

LookingForDave · 11/06/2015 22:14

The wasted hours trying drunkenly to do up those poppers when you have foolishly drunkenly unpopped rather than hoiking to the side.

Alternitively the times you houk to the side but drunkenly fall over and pee on the gusset.

Urgh.

TheImminentGin · 11/06/2015 22:21

They never worked for me. My body is long so all a body suit did was give me a poppered wedgie. Not comfortable.

sighbynight · 11/06/2015 22:25

Well, I reckon I drink much less now than I did in the 1990s Smile. Gusset coordination doesn't worry me.

OP posts:
burnishedsilver · 11/06/2015 22:31

I dread to think how you would unfasten a body suit in a toilet cubicle wearing a full length ball skirt.

NotInGuatemalaNowDrRopata · 11/06/2015 22:39

A drunk girl asked for help doing hers up at a wedding (in the loos, obviously). Equally drunk, I complied, completely unaware she wasn't wearing any knickers until someone kindly told me the next day.

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/06/2015 22:43

Cheezus crikey mcfucker, £300 for an adult babygro that you will struggle to do up in the loos so you'll take it off and shove it in the tampax bin.
