Does anyone still follow any Trinny and Susannah 'rules'?

Was a disciple back in the day, which has led to some embarrassing photos, I can tell you.

But there are still some rules I follow, semi-subconsciously.

I don't wear bright colour on top and black trousers, for example. And I clean my teeth twice before a night out.

I'm sure there are others. Anyone else indoctrinated? (see what I did there?)

Did they say....
Legs out, tits in
Tits out, legs in?
No?

MamaMary · 11/06/2015 19:40

George, they may have said expose cleavage OR wear a short skirt but not both.
That's definitely a 'rule' anyway.

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 11/06/2015 19:56

I think something involving v-necks, low rise trousers and bootcuts
Welcome to 2002

I used to love that look so much - slight gap between trousers and top too Grin

Couldn't do I these days - I'd stop traffic for all of the wrong reasons!

GeorginaWorsley · 11/06/2015 20:07

I adored them.
Still have the books on a dusty shelf somewhere Blush
I wore the trousers a day dress combo and felt so trendy circa 2006.
I've only just started wearing black again as well.
I used to love brown instead of black, as they recommended.
Also I bought the Sweaty Betty wide leg trousers a la Trinny.

Floisme · 11/06/2015 20:14

They did a programme on the menopause - I think it was the first time I'd ever heard anyone talk about it on tv.
They were very much about making the best of what you had.
They weren't afraid to send themselves up.
They were rude to Jeremy Clarkson.

They had their faults e.g. they never took personality into account which I think was a big mistake. But I still think there was more to them than wrap dresses with trousers,

stevienickstophat · 11/06/2015 20:25

Loving the T&S love on this thread! We may spark a revival!

Lol at Sweaty Betty trousers.

I bought those too. They attracted cat hair like nobody's business.

and whoever thought Sweaty Betty was a good name?

YY to the necklines rules and sleeves, and not wearing colour with black.
I can't remember the others now - I had the books as well!!
I think I look nice in wrap dresses Blush I have a few. I'm apple shaped, but when I mention this most people say they thought I was hourglass shaped, and I put this down to the dresses Blush
I'm even considering posting a pic now as I know you lot will all be brutally honest Grin

stevienickstophat · 11/06/2015 21:06

Go on, post a pic. Let's see if the old rules still hold true.

Promise we won't whip yer knicks off Wink

I liked them. Their rules worked, although obviously were of their time and some we'd look at differently now. But I think they were brutally honest rather than bitchy. They were equally brutal with themselves and each other. And they were a million times better than Nicky Hambleton-Jones, who clearly thought her subjects were contemptible. And Gok Wan, who is a vile misogynist who uses his sexuality as a cover for indecently assaulting women on tv.

dun1urkin · 11/06/2015 21:13

I'm actually in trousers and a top at the mo. Will get changed Grin

stevienickstophat · 11/06/2015 21:13

Yy to vile Gok.

stevienickstophat · 11/06/2015 21:13

Go on, dun!

NewFlipFlops · 11/06/2015 21:20

I liked them and thought they were good on proportion. I still follow no colour with black and all their advice on big tits as I am a bit of a Susannah.
I used to like the bit where they ran into shops and grabbed the new, wrong clothes out of their subjects' hands.

The one erogenous zone at a time rule pre-dates them.

dun1urkin · 11/06/2015 21:21

Ok. Here's the patterned wrap dress look

stevienickstophat · 11/06/2015 21:22

See, they'd have saved me some serious money over the years, if they'd done a Shopping Intervention on me.

Where were they when I needed them??

OP posts:
dun1urkin · 11/06/2015 21:22

And here's the plain dress look for comparison. Do your worst.
No, I don't know why the lights went yellow...

Can't deny it, the patterned looks way better.

Go T & S!

Aww, someone ought to show them this thread, so they know it wasn't all in vain.

Poor little QVC Queens Hmm

And my latest dress purchase

Does anyone still follow any Trinny and Susannah 'rules'?
TheImminentGin · 11/06/2015 21:27

I like the patterned wrap dress!

I was remembering T&S the other day and not fondly either. They said you should always try and look sexy. Well, f* that. Usually I just want to be comfortable and look ok. Why should women always look sexy? God knows it's not high on a lot of men's agendas.

TheImminentGin · 11/06/2015 21:28

Prefer the patterned and your latest purchase.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/06/2015 21:30

All they ever seemed to make anybody wear was a wrap dress with those awful fake suede knee high witch boots.

One of my favourite looks is a bright yellow or bright pink skirt with a black top and black shoes.

dun1urkin · 11/06/2015 21:30

DH will be pleased you approve - he bought it for me NB I know this isn't Relationships, but don't worry, he doesn't control what I wear and has only bought me this one item in 15 years

stevienickstophat · 11/06/2015 21:47

I like the new one too!
