Scarves - are they a bit 'last year'?

I own a few spring/summer scarves. Some have skull prints which I won't wear anymore as I think have had their day.

Is it a bit 'dated' and if not, how do I wear it during summer (or do I save it for autumn)?

Scarves are accessories, like earrings,hats and belts.
So, no they havent had their day.
Subject matter may change, ie your skulls pattern may date, but a scarf is a classic fashion accessory.

If it's cold enough to need a scarf, wear one. If it isn't don't. Sod whether it's 'dated' or not.

I agree with the sod it sentiment but yes, they are a bit 'last year' or 'the year before'.

Scarves are scarves. It's like saying earrings are last year.

Fashions come in terms of prints and how to wear them etc but people aren't going to ever stop wearing scarves are they?

OK, so scarves, per-se are not old-hat but is the design of the one I bought on-trend or dated?

Look. You obviously like it - you bought it. So, why does it matter if it's, 'On trend.' Sorry, but I absolutely hate that term. I don't know a single person irl who would say it.

I did have my tongue in my cheek when I said 'on-trend'.....obv didn't convey in my post

I know lots of people who use that term in a jokey way.

I actually think the term 'on-trend' doesn't actually mean anything as I've never known a decade with so many different fashions.

I still yearn for the puffball skirt to make a resurgence.......

Well they didn't used to wear scarves as fashion accessories so much, Twinkle - so I guess they might stop wearing them so much?

When I was at uni it was more of a German student thing/ friend who'd studied in Germany wore them. Or a cold weather thing. Not a fashion thing!

It's hardly very dramatic - not likely to cause offence.

Woolley scarves will obviously always be around but decorative scarves are a different thing altogether and they are a bit passe at the moment.

That said, I don't wear scarves. They don't look good on me. I'm wondering if I'm the only one though. I think they look weird hanging on my not so gifted chest.

I think I bought it on a whim and, actually, it's a bit too big and pashminaish. I like the style and colour but on me, I think, looks a little too middle-aged am running for cover after that statement

That's how it happens isn't it? No one is intentionally frumpy, they just sort of stop paying attention and get distracted and without a bye your leave there you are in last year's scarf.

Patterned summer scarves are a bit two-years-ago IMO. Especially the skulls ones, which were trendy for a bit and then went everywhere.

Winter scarves obvs a very different thing, in that they serve an important purpose other than fashion. Esp when you're freezing to bits in the driving snow.

If scarves are over, why are all the top designers and fashion shops/websites selling them?

Scarves have always been fashion accessories as long I can remember, even back in the 80s. Got my first Hermes for my 21st.

What's a little bit over is over-sized scarves and anything with skulls on.

I don't like scarves they look awful. Although I hate statement jewellery with a passion. Give me a scarf over a chunky funky necklace.

Any moons ago I do believe there was a MN scarf. You might be able to google it. Your scarf reminds me of it.

It hadn't occurred to me that scarves (drapery sort) might have had their day; I'll have to go away and ponder.
