Not sure if I should be starting the new thread as I'm the last poster on the old one - is this how it works?

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 22/06/2015 19:32

Sorry, will stop banging on about cats now.

Stropperella · 22/06/2015 19:48

Erm, do you think your nutty neighbour is coming round and banging incessantly on the door when you are out at work? Just a thought. That kind of thing would drive ddog insane (doesn't take much, he is a bag of nerves as it is).

CointreauVersial · 22/06/2015 21:00

Could be worse, MrsS.

You could have cats making a noise on the landing, and the neighbour pissing on your bed.....Shock Grin

motherinferior · 22/06/2015 21:26

I wondered the same re neighbours. Not that our cats are even remotely sensitive...

herbaceous · 22/06/2015 22:08

Maybe they're fundamentally opposed to poncey socks.

magimedi · 22/06/2015 22:20

I did read that as 'pussy socks', herbs.

Sorry!

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/06/2015 22:34

Oh god Stropps, yes, good point.

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/06/2015 22:36

Neighbour was apparently found spreadeagled, naked on the upstairs landing the other day. Glad I missed that.

Rosebag · 23/06/2015 08:42

Crepeys, do we need to stage an intervention to get poor MrsS out of there…?

lalsy · 23/06/2015 09:22

Shall we all go to Canada? Grin

motherinferior · 23/06/2015 09:35

Do bears sh*t in the woods? (I've been dying to say that, irrelevant though it is...)

Have conducted Ladyjog, following yesterday's Ladysplash. Feeling a bit more human, hurrah.

hattymattie · 23/06/2015 09:39

Mrs S - did those cats move from Paris with you? I had friends whose cats did the same as yours - they just never adapted to moving house.

Have been to gym. Young and hunky gym instructor told the class he was available for work during August. Great hilarity all round as various Jilly Cooper scenarios loomed in people's heads.

DD1 and friend still asleep upstairs - it is 10.30 I think they should emerge soon. I think I'm going to ask for advance (rather then 1 hour) notice of whom is staying over and when so I know how many people I'm required to feed at any given timeConfused.

motherinferior · 23/06/2015 10:13

Hatty, can they sort themselves out?

I made Wholesome Soup for my lot when going out to pub with Nice Young Man last night. They announced they preferred the idea of fish fingers, and then cooked themselves stuffed pasta instead...

hattymattie · 23/06/2015 12:00

MISmile - exactly - I told DD1 that I was off out - having done one round of brunch! I said I couldn't be expected to be on hand to cook random meals. The second sitting have made themselves chicken tikka from the freezer and toast!

bigTillyMint · 23/06/2015 15:55

Sorry to see you can't make Friday, WAF/BD/CV. Herbs, it'd be lovely if you can - surely wont be a problem.

Feeling completely wiped after we had a call at nearly 1am to collect DD and DGodD from party - too much to drink... and then trying to get them to Euston (DGodD going home!) on the train by text/phone whilst at work today. I said the after-exams parties would be worse than the exams!

CointreauVersial · 23/06/2015 16:34

DS has gone shopping; he wants to buy a hip flask for his Y10 Boat Trip on Thursday. For apple juice, apparently. Hmm

Some good news today - I booked myself a single train ticket to DDad's for a week Friday, so I can go up in advance of the family, and help with party set up. It's about a 3 hour trip, one change (Reading), and virtually door to door at both ends.

The price? Nine pounds. Yes, NINE. Shock It's rare to be pleasantly shocked by the price of something. I confidently anticipate I will spend more than that on gourmet coffee and a sticky bun to take with me.

herbaceous · 23/06/2015 16:57

Mmmm. Bun.

Whereabouts is the crepey shindig, BTM? If DP isn't going out, if it's far far away it could still be a logistical challenge...

bigTillyMint · 23/06/2015 19:23

CVGrin re your DS!

It's in my area, Herbs so pretty far away for you. Will PM youWink

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/06/2015 23:00

Train tickets can be amazingly cheap sometimes if you book in advance online. The DDs and I went to Birmingham and back for a day trip for £12 for the three of us last year, and also went to Scotland for around £90.

Hatty - yes, they are Parisian cats, so clearly London really can't live up to Paris, can it, even for cats...?! Although one is a rescue cat, so not really in a position to be sniffy.

MollyAir · 23/06/2015 23:27

Thanks for all your kind words about dd's home life, and thanks, Rose, for those marvellous words to throw at her fecking school. I think her rage was just an opening shot as we began our four days alone together while dh is on holiday alone pursuing one of my top favourite activities. Am I angry about that??? MI, you are right: I was just indulging in guilt about general shoutiness chez nous. Anyway, some of you will not be surprised to hear that the past two days with dd have been all pleasant and lovey-dovey...Hmm Fickle or what.

I'm really looking forward to Friday. Thanks so much for organising it, BTM. Also I have lost five pounds over a lengthy period, thanks in part to invigorating walks in BP, which have reminded me that I do have legs and can use them.

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/06/2015 23:36

Bloody teens, eh, Mollie? And bloody DHs too. I suggested to the DDs that they might like to go on holiday with Daddy this year, and I would stay here with the Shitten and the Pissy Cat, and there was silence and a look of horror on DD2's face. DD2 said "I don't think I'd like that." DD1 said "I've had my holiday this year and am about to go on NCS for three weeks, I don't really need another holiday." Grin Would they like to come on holiday with just me, like we did last year? Oh yes...

Blackduck · 24/06/2015 05:57

MrsS :) re holidaying avec DH...

Here we are gearing up to Dp going to India for 10 days during which I will have to deal with Ds and DDog and work..... Frankly not looking forward to it. I think I am actually coming down with something which doesn't help. We have also postponed birthday date 6 due to impending expenses and I know that means it's unlikely to ever happen :(

Work, meanwhile.........

Stropperella · 24/06/2015 08:01

I HAVE FINISHED MY COURSE. And I have "consistently worked to a very high standard". Am allowing myself a day of generally feeling gooooood.

hattymattie · 24/06/2015 08:11

Fantastic Stropps - well done , congratulationsWine Wine Wine . Have a day or even a weekSmile .

Mrs S - those cats are French and making their discontent knownWink. Can you not all go on holiday together?

I need to speak to DD1 about raucously laughing at 2 am. She has a loud and dirty laugh - I could not hear friend (who is still here) at all.

Off to the dentist today - oh joy. The summer sales start today so it was bad timing on my part. I don't think I can even get a look in until next Tuesday.

motherinferior · 24/06/2015 08:20

Go Stropps!

BD, I am so sorry.

I have not indulged in either a Ladyjog or a Ladysplash and feel distinctly sluggish. I must turn back to the novel. I have been tracking down historians over the interweb, rather reassured by the knowledge that Jessie Burton wrote the whole of the first draft of The Miniaturist from imagination and then retrofitted it to reality.
