Not sure if I should be starting the new thread as I'm the last poster on the old one - is this how it works?

OP posts:

On the bus back from a catch - up with a lovely friend and her DD in town. Managed to get DD some tit-tape for a party too!
Off to a BBQ this afternoon so I hope the horrid drizzle stops soon.

QQ where was the foodie place? Borough Market?

MrsS that sounds beyond the call of duty!

Herbs, thats just bleurgh!

Well done again CV

Cremo, it's bloody hard giving them the space to fail/fall isn't it? Hope the old codgers cheer you up! I was watching the Glastonbury golden oldies thing last night and singing alongGrin

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/06/2015 17:32

I hate Borough Market. I paid £5 for a piece of cheese so thin that I could see through it. John Lewis food hall much better value.

DH putting up shelves, swearily. Grin

His socks are just very, very expensive, and have to be "just so." Fortunately Selfridges has a sale on, so they were a bit less expensive than normal. He also has to wear Very Expensive Shoes - I leave you to imagine the expression on his face when the foot doctor told him they were very bad for his feet, and handed him the Hotter catalogue. Grin

QueenQueenie · 20/06/2015 17:46

It wasn't Borough Market - it was where all the hipsters have moved onto now that BM is overrun with Japanese tourists taking photos of Romanesco cauliflowers and very thin cheese with selfie sticks.. this was much more cutting edge - a few artfully arranged loaves in an old lock up and hand crafted jam in teeny jars costing a fortune to coo over whilst siping a single estate aeropress coffee... dh loves it. Ds2, ddog and me not soooo impressed.

hipster foodie heaven

Back from sixth birthday party, and by crikey I was ready to leave. 20 sugared-up little darlings armed with party tooters. I was ready to kill. Then got utterly pissed on in a rainstorm.

motherinferior · 20/06/2015 18:19

WAF, thanks for the leggings heads-up.

But please, dearest friends, next time I embark on a day on my feet in plimmies, please remind me to wear old-lady knee bandage.

motherinferior · 20/06/2015 18:25

Though that would have rendered sight of self in JL changing room mirror even more traumatic. I was feeling rather positive in the old body image department before.

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/06/2015 18:37

QQ - that must have been fun - Bermondsey is so achingly trendy these days it really needs to get over itself and move on. We went here last weekend to have a poke round the studios. It was interesting to see what was being produced, but the women all seemed to come out of one of two moulds: Sloaney girls in their 20s and 30s with blonde swishy hair and Crepeys, all wearing linen tunics, with wild, grey woolly hair and either DMs or Birkenstocks. DH helpfully told me that I "fitted right in"...

Herbs - I always used to serve Kool Aid at our birthday parties when the DDs were little (we had ready access to the American PX) which had the kids absolutely bouncing off the walls. They loved it. The parents not so much. Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/06/2015 18:39

Now I have the urge for Mars Bar Rice Krispie Cake, talking about children's parties. I quite miss all the baking I used to do for them, the iced fairy cakes, the chocolate cakes, the birthday cake. The gin I used to consume to get through them, to the horror of the other mothers.

CointreauVersial · 20/06/2015 18:47

Am just about to leave for outdoor event and it is tipping down. Never mind, according to BBC Weather there's only a couple of hours before the lightning kicks in. Angry

Blackduck · 20/06/2015 20:24

Sun has come out here.... Just Grin
BBQ was abandoned - dp fighting with blink box so we can watch GoT....

Actually feel like going to bed.

bigTillyMint · 20/06/2015 21:07

Lol at hipster foodie heaven in Bermondsey and craft heaven in Walworth - completely at odds with what I see when I go to meetings!

Just back from friends afternoon party which turned out to not be a BBQ much to DH and the DC's dismay. Prosecco was good thoughWink

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/06/2015 09:02

Big cat pissed all over me and the duvet this morning. We were having our usual morning cuddle and I suddenly became aware that he was peeing on me. I thought cats were supposed to be clean animals? I am losing the will to live and have run out of duvets. The vet can't find any reason for his peeing, nothing has changed in the house. I adore my cats, but I can't carry on like this.

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2015 09:17

MrsS, is that both cats doing it now? I don't blame you for not wanting to carry on like thatFlowers

herbaceous · 21/06/2015 09:35

Our cat has gone missing. I haven't seen him since yesterday morning - he didn't even come back during the downpours, which would normally see him bombing back in through the catflap, yowling like a banshee. I might have to go knocking on neighbours' doors shortly.

Plus side: DP's birthday today, and I bought him a Lego United Nations building, which went down a storm.

Minus side: DP has a horrible cold/flu thing.

Plus side, he won £450 on the races yesterday. Also on the plus side, we had a brilliant concert last night. We sang specially composed music along to silent films, plus some other film-type music, like Sound of Silence, Windmills of your Mind, Moon River, etc. The audience loved it! Such a buzz.

At the moment pluses outweigh minuses, but the day is young.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/06/2015 10:04

The usual culprit has stopped, BTM. The other one seems absolutely terrified of everything; he has also peed all over the armchair and crapped on the sitting room floor this morning - he's never done either of those things before. He cowers or runs away when anyone approaches him. Sad

Rosebag · 21/06/2015 10:29

The cat problems do sound distressing. Would a pet psychologist be able to shed any light, do you think? I wouldn't be able to go on either. When we had cats, there was poo corner in the house which they always disgraced themselves in if they got ill or upset. But it was just that particular corner...usually because foxes were outside, or another cat had got in through the cat flap and marked territory when we were out ( before the days of electronics neck tags etc. Flowers

I feel like I'm in some sort of twilight world at the moment. dD and I downed tools at 4 yesterday and went out for a pizza I had superfood salad and then spoiled it with a brownie docetti It's the most revision she's ever done, I think. DH is doing physics with her at the moment. DS didn't think much of Warwick surprisingly.....but it poured most of the day and he admitted that didn't put a positive spin on things. Birmingham next week. Where has my life gone? Confused

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2015 10:40

Herbs, the music from your concert sounds lovely - can't you get them to come and do a S London show?!

BTW MrsS, was that "usual morning cuddle" secret code for daily shag? ImpressedGrin

Rose, glad your DD's revising! DH is doing maths with DS now - I think he has some sort of test coming upConfused

Got to get going - DD wants me to plait her hair. Again. Then need to get some party essentials (ie cider) for her and DGodD who she is going to meet from the train soon whilst DH and I go off to see Grace Jones and Chic in Hyde Park with friends. DH is going for the Kylie part, but the rest of us aren't interested in staying to see herWinkGrin

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/06/2015 11:01

BTM - ha, no. It's the cat who comes in for his morning cuddle, not DH!

The Shitten has just shit on the floor now, for no apparent reason. I am going to have to rehome, aren't I? Sad I wonder if Big Pussy Boy would be happier if I just rehomed the Shitten? It was all going so well, she had stopped "misbehaving" and now we are going under in double the amount of cat effluent again.

Rose - I am not sure I have the money or the energy for a cat shrink. I adore my big cat, he has always been very much "my" cat, but if he is not happy, I think I do need to find both of them somewhere else to live. He just seems terrified of everything today, and I don't know why.

Blackduck · 21/06/2015 11:22

Rose I do think when it comes to Unis there is the campus v town/city debate to be had. Campus unis can feel 'remote' if that's not your thing (I loathed Lancaster for the same reason).

MrsS :(

Here I was poked in the face at 7.00 to assist with Father's Day breakfast ....

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2015 11:36

Here DD and DS are going to cook DH (and themselves) a fry-up, but no-one's actually doing it yet...

BD, I agree. Campus-v-City debate is a big difference.

MrsS, I have no idea how you judge a cat's moodConfused How easy logistically would it be to rehome them?

motherinferior · 21/06/2015 11:42

I was going to say I was PMSL at the idea of MrsS using a euphemism but realised that was perhaps not the right turn of phrase...

motherinferior · 21/06/2015 12:03

DP still knackered and putupon. He has gone out with DD2 for hamster supplies (her birthday present on Weds). I have put a nice lunch in the oven. He will probably be secretly cross that I have thus removed a reason to feel putupon and a domestic drudge.

herbaceous · 21/06/2015 12:05

Cat has returned. Thank god. I was just preparing some fliers to distribute to disinterested neighbours. He seems very hungry, but otherwise unscathed.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/06/2015 12:43

If he hadn't returned, Herbs, I have two you could have in his place...

cremolafoam · 21/06/2015 13:15

Oh good Herbs. Maybe he got stuck in a shed or similar.

Mrs S I was just wondering if you had tried Feliway plug -in?

MI I want to come to dinner at yoursEnvy
