Do they get lots of help? Wondering if they do their running and work outs at 5am as they seem quite hands on mums.

6MusicLover - SamCam also has a massively successful career track record. She scaled back when her DH became PM. Cherie Blair had her mother come to live in to take over the domestic side.

pinkfrocks · 02/06/2015 09:54

Those people who are saying Cherie B had a high flying career ( and this somehow means that staying a healthy weight is out of the question) have conveniently forgotten about Karen Kaplan, who was brought in to advise her on weight, style and beauty, as well as hoardes of other people -the personal trainers, the crystals, the mud baths, the therapy... I could go on.

pinkfrocks · 02/06/2015 09:55

But hell will freeze over before I get my kicks telling other women that they should be able to do what I do!

well why the hell are you on this thread? funny how you can't see the irony of telling others what to do, isn't it- ie me.

TheWordFactory · 02/06/2015 09:58

Cherie never really worried about her appearance until the press began to roast her ass.

I think she naively believed she'd be able to just carry on with her own life/career.

But the rancour was startling. That's when all the KK shit started.

Bonsoir · 02/06/2015 09:59

Aren't you being a bit patronising, Word?

pinkfrocks · 02/06/2015 10:00

If I may say so word you are being rather annoying. For a start, what has age got to do with anything? when does posting on a thread mean someone is 'chasing' posters around a forum? Is there an age limit to being able to post on various topics? Funny, I thought on MN older posters might be given some credit for age and experience - but hey, it's MN- forgot that. And you don't know my age or circumstances at all.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/06/2015 10:00

You are making yourself look utterly ridiculous and very nasty pinkfrocks.

You ask word if she is overweight and then in your very next post say you aren't obsessed with it?

I spend more time on style and beauty than anywhere else on MN tbh, though I do skincare rather than frocks.

pinkfrocks · 02/06/2015 10:01

It's not me that is being nasty drank.

Posters accuse me of being obsessed and dish out bitchy comments then you come along and say it's me who started it all? get a grip.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/06/2015 10:02

And the Blairs sat down many years ago and decided which one of them should enter politics. As she was a far more successful lawyer than he ever hoped to be, it was decided that he enter politics while she continued in the legal profession.

Bonsoir · 02/06/2015 10:02

Cherie Blair has never gained control of her appearance, despite the coaches/crystals/faith healers bla di bla. She is one of the greediest and least disciplined people that have inhabited Downing Street.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/06/2015 10:03

You're the one telling people to fuck off.

Classy.

Swimminguphill · 02/06/2015 10:04

Yikes! S&B becoming a fight club! I didn't sign up to that... please someone comment on SC's signature colour or something, to calm the whole thing down. Do you think she's a warm Autumn Smile

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/06/2015 10:05

Oh, I have no time for CB. And have said so many times.

But common or garden MNers who seem to think any woman in the public eye or out of it is fair game because they aren't a wrinkle free size 8 are abhorrent.

6Musiclover · 02/06/2015 10:07

Pink I couldn't give a flying fuck what Wright you are, Cherie Blair is, whoever. You seem to be missing the point that many people unlike yourself don't judge others sorely on appearence because they are decent human beings.
You're coming across as nasty. I've always believed that shows in your face, no matter how 'beautiful' you try to be..

merrygoround51 · 02/06/2015 10:08

Well I have had this Cherie Blaire discussion with Bonsoir before!

Look of course Cherie had her faults but she was incredibly successful and if Tony had not become PM she would probably be a judge and I imagine would have had an overall happier life.

Looking back at early photos of her she was thin and that was as a working mother of 3 children. But lets be honest how Cherie looks is probably the least important or interesting thing about her!

And good on her for moving her mother in to help raise her children. Michelle Obama did the same and everyone appears happy with the arrangement

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 02/06/2015 10:12

I always felt a bit sorry for Cherie.

She was a normal professional woman who just wanted to get on with things. Her career was held back by her husband's success, and his success also meant people felt that they could bitch about her appearance.

I think she'd probably rather he'd stayed a back bencher and let her go as far as she wanted.

Swimminguphill · 02/06/2015 10:12

If my mum moved in to help me raise my kids i'd be huge!! That woman is a feeder.

Guess it's horses for courses. I don't honestly think being PMs wife is a great life. I'd much rather (if we're talking about easy lives and getting to the gym) be the kept woman of an anonymous banker who earns ££ in the city, with no paps etc on my doorstep. I don't envy any of them. In fact if I was the wife of a PM with my mother living with me I would most definitely be a depressed, fat, shouty, alcoholic and the reason why he had to step down from office due to a drunken outburst at the Russian ambassador's reception, culminating in a massive fall down some huge steps landing with my legs akimbo infront of the national press.

motherinferior · 02/06/2015 10:13

I don't really think SC's career record was exactly massively successful. She did do some paid work, yes.

TheWordFactory · 02/06/2015 10:16

I met Cherie several times before Tony was elected (instructed her on a case) and she was just not interested in her appearance.

She was clean and smart, but a very practical woman IYKWIM. She was also very jolly and incredibly good at her job. I think she was happy.

When I saw her again, well into the Blair administration she looked the opposite. Uncomfortable and unhappy.

Bonsoir · 02/06/2015 10:17

Gosh, MI. Your success scale is clearly very different to mine. She was earning in the top 0.01% of female incomes. Driving company sales by designing products. I am full of admiration!

pinkfrocks · 02/06/2015 10:18

drank you seem to have somehow missed the point that the topic of this thread was SCs figure- that does include weight. Practically every single post is about her weight and how she maintains it. RTFT.

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 02/06/2015 10:19

Word- I agree with that. Didn't know her pre but knew Matrix and people said similar.

motherinferior · 02/06/2015 10:20

And I'll take Hilary Mantel over either of those dames any day, even if she is - gasp - more than a size 8. Or Mary Beard, who has the temerity to look - rather fabulously - like a woman who relies on her brains and character not her dermis.

I'm so S&B, me. Grin

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/06/2015 10:22

I have read the thread. Huge difference between commenting on how women keep themselves fit and healthy and making personal comments to other MNers.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 02/06/2015 10:23

swimminguphill, you are my spirit animal
