These jeans...stylish or bloody awful?

I just bought these jeans from M&S Limited Edition, having seen them on a blog (baaa....).

I'm 5 foot 7, forty-cough-cough years old and a size 10. I do like a cropped leg. They fit nicely. A bit different from the usual. But family have given them the universal thumbs down.

DS said "meh" (what does he know?)
DD1 said "no, they're awful" (but she's still denying the 70s revival)
DH said "it looks like they were too short, and you've just taken down the hems" (um...OK, can't argue with that one)

What do you think?

The issue is that a lot of bloggers spend so long trying to look ' fierce' they dont dress in clothes that actually suit them.

noddyholder · 20/05/2015 08:07

They are a good cut if you need a bit of help in the bum dept and model is probably about 6ft! Can prob get same effect chopping an old pair of bootlegs.

dexter73 · 20/05/2015 08:25

I thought cropped flared trousers were 'in' this season?

Is blogging a job that brings in a salary or just a hobby? The whole thing has passed me by

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/05/2015 09:35

Hobby for a few but lots do it as a job.

dexter73 · 20/05/2015 10:08

I read recently about one of the beauty vloggers who has been able to buy herself a house because she has earned so much!

dexter73 · 20/05/2015 10:09

This was the article.

niminypiminy · 20/05/2015 10:12

(drifting off the point here slightly) I love that comment in the man-repeller blog about clothes that make her feel like a more interesting version of herself.

I like the jeans in the OP quite a lot, and I like the idea that not everything has to make you look younger/slimmer/more toned etc etc etc but that clothes can be something to play around with. I definitely like the idea of being a more interesting version of myself.

TheWordFactory · 20/05/2015 10:19

Running blogs for profit is certainly do-able (though the arse dropped out of the market a bit).

I used to have several and they made me a nice income for not too much effort (not fashion though).

The issue of freebies is a live one though. You get offered them of course. But if you want to be trusted (and consequently read frequently) you can't be too obvious; you have to be able to criticise the freebie givers.

Some bloggers make a big thing about accepting no freebies.

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/05/2015 10:45

I think the majority get freebies although I know the wornout lady doesn't as it is purely fun.

Once they start with the freebies - just becomes like a magazine and I lose interest.

Although do love a bit of pink peonies after I became mormon obsessed last summer Wink

FiftyShadesOfSporn · 20/05/2015 18:04

I do like the fact that All Worn Out (or All About Eve, as I like to think of it, since most of the others seem to have buggered off to Pinterest) features affordable clothes on women you could meet on the school run. Unlike WIT.

FiftyShadesOfSporn · 20/05/2015 18:04

That should have been posted about 4 pages earlier. The pitfall of not having 'show all messages' on.

DontKillMyVibe · 20/05/2015 18:07

Have seen them on 2 blogs and I really don't like them on either of the bloggers. Think they are very unflattering and a funny shape at the bottom.

I generally like cropped jeans but really don't like these ones.

rootypig · 20/05/2015 19:49

dexter they are. But these aren't really flares, that's the problem.

Love those ones Poppy

luckingaround · 21/05/2015 18:17

Picked them up today. They're on me right now. Live broadcast Grin

They do come up big. So size down. I like them. A lot. Might even keep them. Showed the kids. Yay, kids but I sort of trust their judgement. Immediate nods, and when I demanded words pressed for words, they said they really like them. Marvellously comfy.

CointreauVersial · 21/05/2015 19:15

luckingaround - I'm still on the fence; mine haven't been returned yet. Still have the tags on, though...

DH home. Thumbs up from him too. Think I'll keep them. I did think I'd look a bit horrific, like I was growing out of my clothes as someone above said, or that they'd be that awful non-fashion wrong length look. But no, I like them.

AmberNectarine · 21/05/2015 22:37

I like them. I wouldn't wear them though because they'd make me look short and wide (possible because I am ;) )

Eve looks great in them - she has a cracking pair of legs.
