These jeans...stylish or bloody awful?

CointreauVersial · 19/05/2015 12:48

I just bought these jeans from M&S Limited Edition, having seen them on a blog (baaa....).

I'm 5 foot 7, forty-cough-cough years old and a size 10. I do like a cropped leg. They fit nicely. A bit different from the usual. But family have given them the universal thumbs down.

DS said "meh" (what does he know?)
DD1 said "no, they're awful" (but she's still denying the 70s revival)
DH said "it looks like they were too short, and you've just taken down the hems" (um...OK, can't argue with that one)

What do you think?

I reckon its false eyelash glue. For in every hospital bag are some lashes, a bow and some adhesive.

dexter73 · 19/05/2015 20:25

And her husband's teeth Shock!! They are like when Ross has his whitened!

PoppysStyle · 19/05/2015 20:26

Yikes - I bet she had a 'going home outfit too' ;)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/05/2015 20:27

I hate them, sorry. But if you like them then it really shouldn't matter what a bunch of random people on the internet think. Only you know if they look okay on you or not, and how much you care that your family don't like them much.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/05/2015 20:28

My favourite photo is the family one with her leg out. I hope the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are taking notes for their post baby photo-shoot.

dexter73 · 19/05/2015 20:30

That will be appearing in Hello magazine shortly!! Complete with their dog too!

noddyholder · 19/05/2015 20:32

I wear flares but I have always worn them in the evening with silk shirts and heels. I wear my jeans with white hippie type tops and high clog sandals I find them flattering as I like platforms as not tall

noddyholder · 19/05/2015 20:44

Agree with remus internet opinion doesn't matter at all if you love something

nilbyname · 19/05/2015 20:45

Those birth pics are hilare! Those teeth, that hair?!? All those loose beachy waves. It's too much.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/05/2015 20:46

Very true.

I never ask opinions on here anymore. I wear what I like and hey if I look an idiot, well that's not the worse thing in the world.

TychosNose · 19/05/2015 20:48

I like them. I'd look crap in them cos I'm too short, but I do like them. Bit like the h n m ones that sold out instantly.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/05/2015 20:50

I still ask for opinions occasionally but reserve the right to ignore every last one of you, if I want to! :)

Looking like an idiot wearing something you love isn't the worst thing in the world.

hiccupgirl · 19/05/2015 21:24

I quite like them personally though I'm not particularly stylish or slim enough to wear them myself.

If you like them, then wear them IMO.

CointreauVersial · 19/05/2015 21:39

I'm very glad I asked for feedback, actually. Interestingly polarised opinions....

Sometimes I choose to ignore what people say, but sometimes it's a good smack around the face if I've momentarily forgotten that I'm a suburban working mum, and not a twentysomething hipster who spends her life at press days and hanging round Shoreditch. Grin

Poppy. They look like a school textiles project gone wrong.

noddyholder · 19/05/2015 22:05

I do think that they are ok for a suburban mum though as they are in marks!

noddyholder · 19/05/2015 22:08

www.streathamguardian.co.uk/resources/images/3359324.jpg?type=article-full mind you I wore v similar to this on last night out and I know its pretty much unanimously hated on Mn so I may not be the best guide!

BadgersArse · 19/05/2015 22:10

Hark at you nod. Suburban mum

noddyholder · 19/05/2015 22:15

Cointreau did refer to herself as that not me! I think I would not be considered suburban mum by the mums themselves

luckingaround · 19/05/2015 22:16

I saw them on IG on schoolrunstyle. They look great on her.

So obviously I went and ordered them on Sunday night. As you do. Will pick up tomorrow. However I do think it's just an itch I had to scratch. I suspect I'll return.

Love the pink peonies, erm, birth story. I mean. Did you ever. Pictures pre-birth in the hospital! I love it. And I think she has her eyelashes on right throughout?

TheWordFactory · 19/05/2015 22:49

My colleague at work wore these today (or summat very similar).

She looked very cool. Styled them with a silky navy shirt and these www.hm.com/gb/product/89493?article=89493-B.

I asked about the sandals because although they were possibly a bit optimistic fr today's rain, I thought they looked nice for sunnier days Wink.

PoppysStyle · 19/05/2015 23:46

When in doubt this is always a fun read www.manrepeller.com/2014/12/why-i-wear-bad-pants.html

CatOfTheWoods · 19/05/2015 23:53

I think they're OK, but do look slightly too long so that's what gives them that "not quite long enough" look – they look as if they can't make their mind up and the diff colour bit just adds to that. I'd be itching to roll them up a turn or two but because of the colour difference it might look weird.

I like the width of the leg and the general cut.

rootypig · 20/05/2015 00:00

Shock that blogger needs to step away from the snake print

Cropped jeans shouldn't flare slightly like that, it just makes them look flappy. They should be more, or less wide.

M&S is so good at getting it very precisely wrong Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/05/2015 07:23

And what is it with bloggers all wearing the same clothes? Do they all get the same package in the post?
