These jeans...stylish or bloody awful?

I just bought these jeans from M&S Limited Edition, having seen them on a blog (baaa....).

I'm 5 foot 7, forty-cough-cough years old and a size 10. I do like a cropped leg. They fit nicely. A bit different from the usual. But family have given them the universal thumbs down.

DS said "meh" (what does he know?)
DD1 said "no, they're awful" (but she's still denying the 70s revival)
DH said "it looks like they were too short, and you've just taken down the hems" (um...OK, can't argue with that one)

What do you think?

I think they're awful, sorry!

CointreauVersial · 19/05/2015 17:40

Yes, that's the blog. Funnily enough, I don't like a lot of what she wears, but the jeans really appealed.

Gah! It's such a fine line to tread. Sure I won't be meeting the queen in them, but at the same time I don't want people pointing and laughing in the street. But the alternative is sticking with the same old classic (yawn) styles.

I wonder if people would think they were nicer if they hadn't been hit by the "bad styling" ugly stick which is the M&S website...

And Buggerme, I like blogs where the women wear high street clothes.

Some fashionista wearing a designer tutu and five inch heels ain't gonna inspire me to dress for my ordinary life!

i got some rippedy ones from Hand m

The other alternative is this pair from Zara www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/jeans/high-waisted/jeans-with-frayed-hem-c718505p2716019.html if you wanted wide leg

I think they are the same style as these which i ordered but were too wide for me www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/jeans/view-all/camouflage-cigarette-jeans-c719019p2571508.html

and I changed for a different camo pair

BadgersArse · 19/05/2015 17:46

they are way wider in RL

MitzyLeFrouf · 19/05/2015 17:47

I hate cropped trousers that flap around the shin. They remind me of all the cropped trouser people you see in the airport off on their hols.

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2015 17:47

CV, I'm afraid I don't like them either. They are trying to be stylish but failing miserably. Even if a gorgeous slim teen wore them. Which they wouldn'tWink

FrugalFashionista · 19/05/2015 17:47

CV I really like those jeans. They are a version of the Gucci jeans Garance Dore loves, they look smashing on the right person.

BadgersArse · 19/05/2015 17:47

or these zara ones more classic

Whatamayday · 19/05/2015 17:49

I don't like the shape of the leg or that extra denim bit. Possibly someone young and funky could make them passable.

MitzyLeFrouf · 19/05/2015 17:49

I've never looked at that blog before but the flappy cropped jeans, pointy shoes from 2001, and alligator skin style blazer combo isn't doing much for me.

noddyholder · 19/05/2015 17:49

I tried those on! I was a bit hmm but they looked good on

FrugalFashionista · 19/05/2015 17:50

Garance link

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 19/05/2015 17:51

I like the shoes. Total rip off of rockstuds though.

MitzyLeFrouf · 19/05/2015 17:51

Seeing as Frugal mentioned Garance Dore, I's just like to say that I was thrilled to learn recently that she'd split up with that dickish Sartorialist man.

KoalaDownUnder · 19/05/2015 17:51

Bugger, I don't get the bloggers either. They all look the same: skinny trousers/jeans, spiky pointy heels, a blazer-y thing, statement necklace, bag in crook of arm. Selfie with iPhone + self-indulgent twaddle about wonderful night out with family. Confused

(Am bitch)

noddyholder · 19/05/2015 17:51

I prefer to ripped knees tbh They are a nice shape too.

KoalaDownUnder · 19/05/2015 17:52

Ha! Cross-post with Mitzy

BadgersArse · 19/05/2015 17:52

yeah but Garance might look a twat full length

BadgersArse · 19/05/2015 17:53

Lols at Koala.

and comedy name for H

BadgersArse · 19/05/2015 17:53

i look like a sailor in wide leg trews

dances hornpipe

Instituteofstudies · 19/05/2015 17:56

i don't like them at all. I do liked cropped skinny trousers and jeans but not cropped wider jeans or trousers. Even on taller women, they somehow look out of proportion and frumpy or just a bit daft imo. You sound like you have a lovely figure and I think you could do a lot better than these. Zara and Oasis are worth a look. I don't think age is what matters here - I can't see these llooking cool/edgy etc on anyone somehow. The woman in the blog's outfit was not my thing at all.

noddyholder · 19/05/2015 17:56

Grin koala I always wonder why some of them do blogs I think its my age though I think they are pointless

nilbyname · 19/05/2015 17:57

The contrast is too much. Shame really as I like the cut.
