gerti - re the Clinique SPF, the 25 is the physical version and the 40 chemical. I don't get on with the 40 but do with the 25.

diggerdigsdogs · 18/06/2015 10:37

squeezy I'd love to know thoughts on Luna.

Very exciting postman came. Sunday Riley Good Genes & Ceramic Slip cleanser came plus the Nude oil cleanser.

So can't wait to wash my face tonight Hmm Grin

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 18/06/2015 10:45

I like good genes but not ceramic slip (I find it too drying but the. I'm not a fan of clay based stuff anyway). The good genes is quite powerful/active, I only use it once a week or so as I find it makes my skin too sensitive otherwise.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 18/06/2015 10:46

Italic fail Hmm

mowglik · 18/06/2015 17:18

I have good genes but didn't notice any difference despite using it every night for a couple of weeks.. Maybe not suited to my skin type (oily). I was thinking about luna but have bought skinceuticals 1.0 on a whim so will see how that goes first

Just started using nipfab Dragons blood pads used them last night and they are very moisturising - have had very clear skin today and yesterday but am putting that down to a snail gel I've been trialling. Still liking the dragons blood pads more than the glycolic fix pads.

Orangedandelion · 18/06/2015 18:42

Big fat whopper of a yellow headed spot has actually now gone. Amazing. Tiny bit of red left but barely noticeable unless I peer really closely.
Yeah for salicylic acid.
Def taking my clearasil pads on holiday for emergency break outs.

Kundry · 18/06/2015 21:14

It's a marvel isn't it? Why do they sell us so much rubbish instead of it just being in all the products?

Sallystyle · 18/06/2015 21:23

Thank you for the recommendations everyone :)

EthelCardew · 18/06/2015 23:08

Been off the thread for a while but bloody loving my 'new' skin!

My new routine is working really well but my chin still has dark spot scars from aaaaaaages ago, is there anything that will help this that's suitable for dry/sensitive/reactive skin?

diggerdigsdogs · 19/06/2015 01:29

Can we talk about sun damage please? I have visible sun damage as lots of little brown marks across my cheeks & forhead plus large freckles across my jaw (no, not cute freckles, sun damage ones) that have only appeared in more recent years.

Is there anything specifically that I can use to fade them? Any ingredient I should be looking for?

Kundry · 19/06/2015 03:39

Retinol, Bigbuttons Vit C Ferrulic serum, acids. Then there are a lot of 'brightening' serums usually with koijic acid, liquorice and bearberry extract. However there's a product out from Deciem (makers of Hylamide) that claims to work and have new ingredients that are better than Vit C and koijic etc.

I've never bought the Sunday Riley range but it looks like it has good ingredients, however it is so £££££

For example the ceramic slip cleanser - CH says she loves it but she tells us elsewhere on her site quite how cheap clay is as an ingredient and therefore never to pay £££ for a clay mask. It's the main feature of the slip cleanser yet it costs £35

£98 for a sunscreen Shock what's cashmere protein supposed to do for your face anyway??? And none of the other ingredients are anything you haven't seen in other cheaper products.

Somebody up thread, possible bigbuttons or frugalfashionista went through how much Luna would cost to make and it was tiny in comparison to the £85 price tag. It's just a mix of plant oils with a tiny amount of a retinol, and not even one of the most effective retinols. I'm sure it feels lovely on your skin but so does any oil TBH, it isn't necessarily doing anything that useful unless you have dry skin when you could just use Nivea.

Fraid I can totally see where Beautypedia is coming from - Paula's Choice is by no means the cheapest of products, and it does have some rubbish lines too, but nothing with quite so overblown claims and price tags Shock

MsBojangles · 19/06/2015 19:21

My Paula's Choice {such a crap name!} 1% retinol arrived today and I've just double cleansed and put it on. So much more comforting that plain old Retin-A, I'm impressed so far...waits for skin to fall off by Monday.

Now are we supposed to moisturise over this, I don't feel like I need to? I was using Cerave PM (cheers Kundry) on top of my Retin-A and was tolerating it fine once every 3 days, to be honest I could have stuck with it but I'd already ordered PC 1%.

I am using plain olay £5 moisturiser with niacinamide and SPF mixed with my old favourite grapeseed oil in the morning. Works beautifully.
Evening I alternate with redermic R, and a Vichy acid toner containing glycolic and salicylic acid or hydraluron. The latter is fantastic if mixed with an oil. On its own it is rubbish.
Kindry: any tips on my routine? I have combination skin.

Hi. Which of the clearasil pads are you raving about? There were two different sorts in Boots. One was a 5 in one type of thing and the other a more basic it seemed.

And also for those with acne prone skin did pixi glow tonic aggravate your skin as I think it did with me...Sad

I've also been using the n&f glycolic pads but how different are they from the dragons blood ones?

Massive TIA Smile

kundry you are quite right. £££££ doesn't mean better than something that's cheaper, it just means over hype and clever marketing.

A single oil like tamanu is excellent at fading hyper pigmentation. It does not cause comedones either.

I'm really glad this thread is still going strong. Sorry I've been absent, spending my money on the AB skincareBlush cheap and effective and I've been poorly.
I made a new batch of the bit c serum yesterday., Gorgeous and packs quite a punch when I put it on! My face is definitely much paler since I started looking after it. Sun worshiping friends think I look slightly anaemic. I don't care, I will be laughing with far fewer wrinkles than they will be in a few yearsWink.
I have become slightly obsessive about keeping the sun off my face too. I religiously reapply sunscreen every 2 hours on my face and hands and any exposed skin. I am now also wearing a fetching hat!
