New thread!

Lurker alert!

Love this thread. Bought Nip+Fab pads this week and hopeful that there's some Cerave tucked in DH's case when he returns from the US later.

I've bee using Paula's Choice stuff for a year or so now and am a big fan, price aside. Particularly love the Resist range for combo/oily skin. Though I'm 38 my skin still thinks it's 13. No spots, just oily and looking a bit old. Have definitely seen results with PC, particularly this, which I love www.paulaschoice.co.uk/resist-super-light-daily-wrinkle-defense-spf-30.html. Was also inspired by the old sizzler threads here to try salicylic acid peels once in a while - something for wintertime.

ilovetosleep which product did you react to? I also have dry / dehydrated skin but it appears to be oils that my skin reacts to. Anything remotely oily and I get yellow heads and then if I don't stop I get the chin monsters :( The only exception is lush ultrabland, my skin loves it. I use it as step one in the evening double cleanse and always follow it with cetaphil.

I'm waiting for cerave cleanser to arrive. I'm hoping its even better than cetaphil (my amazon account won't be happy if it is!)

For red marks have you tried a vitamin c serum? I'm making my first batch tonight. I then need to figure out where to fit it into my routine as I'm already using tretinoin, glycolic peel etc

Orangedandelion · 17/06/2015 17:05

I have my first big fat yellow spot in forever right next to my nose just in time for my holiday next week Hmm

The next few days will be dedicated to getting rid of it. I will be wearing SPF all next week and no make up bar cc or Bb cream in the evenings.

SPF is P20 and piz buin for face if it doesn't like P20.

ilovetosleep · 17/06/2015 18:45

M0gz basically I am reacting to anything at the moment (since I found this thread and bought loads of new stuff!) but the Korean product I was referring to is the Mizon good night sleep mask - gave me pimples - but then the morning after I tried starfish cream I had a cystic spot. I really loved that cream so I'm hopingit was hormonal. I tried CH trick of rubbing it with oil and it halved in size and redness over night! So it does sound like we have v different ski types although both dry. About a week or so ago I did this going back to basics thing but not for long enough, used clearasil pads for two days and ended up with the sore stinging dry patches on my cheeks again. So I think I really need to let my moisture barrier recover (is that right?!) annoying as I do have some blocked comeedones around my nose which I want to attack.

I'm a bit scared of vit c atm but will try it once my skin is calm and settled.

My stash of new products so far consists of (most of which I can't use):
Mizon starfish cream
Mizon good night sleep mask
Mizon snail gel
Clinique moisture surge spray
Una Brennan rose cleanser
Missha longer name time resist ampoule samples
Biore spf
LRP spf
Clinique city block
Nip &fab glycolic pads
Nip&fab dragons blood/salicylic pads
LRP redermic R

And it all sits in my drawer while I use my trusty old ren creams and eve lom cleanser (which I am too scared to replace but I do want to lose the mineral oil). The two clinique products seem to be fine too. The rest I will introduce one per week to see if I can cope and save acid toning for a couple of times a week I think!

And I still have a wish list despite all that, I want hylamide for face and eyes, and Emma hardie cleanser ;)

Kundry · 17/06/2015 19:25

Am so pleased there are so many Cerave fans Grin

Orange just blast that spot with salicylic acid. I love Vichy Hyaluspot as it takes the redness and swelling down v fast and disappears the spot while hydrating it so you get less of that horrible peeling and flaking as it goes. I put in on a few times during the day to really get rid of the fecker.

Orangedandelion · 17/06/2015 19:42

I have used take the day off balm, then lrp gel cleanser, then clearasil pads, then just before bed probably effaclar duo.

I have already rubbed the head off Grin fingers crossed it's gone by the morning or at least by Saturday.

mowglik · 17/06/2015 20:40

My skin is also recovering from overuse of retinol but it's feeling a lot better so I braved trying out nip+fab dragons blood pads. They were more hydrating than I thought they'd be and my skin feels a little sticky right now - hoping this goes away otherwise might have to keep this as a night time treatment

Also bought the dragons blood mask which I might try out overnight tonight
i love the wish list never ends! I came back from hols with loads of stuff but grabbed (with boots points) the nipfab stuff when it was on offer. Also have hylamide on my list. Go for the Emma hardie I got a set of 3 from M&S when they had 20% off. It's my favourite cleanser yet Grin

Sallystyle · 17/06/2015 21:48

I am looking for a moisturising cleanser.

I have the super drug one, Lush and the Cetaphill. I am now finding that my skin feels really dried out after using them and my face feels like it is going to crack. I can't moisturise straight after due to the retin so if you can help recommend me a very moisturising non foaming cleanser I would be grateful please.

Kundry · 17/06/2015 22:29

Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser?

Just seen your other thread posting and wonder if you will be better for more moisturiser with the Retin A.

Am deeply suspicious about the current push for oils from beauty companies - they all smell lovely and will make your skin feel nice and smooth but what justifies the high price tag? Half of them are just full of mineral oil, v few have proper anti-ageing ingredients, loads of spot triggers and yet they are marketing them to everyone, not just the dry skinned.

I suspect most of them are v cheap to make and mega money spinners Angry

Orangedandelion · 17/06/2015 23:00

mowglik I got a free sample of Clinique rinse off foaming cleanser and I think it's just what you're looking for. It definitely makes your skin feel moisturised afterwards. It doesn't actually foam so don't be put off by the name.

Orangedandelion · 17/06/2015 23:01

Ooops sorry u2the edge

Orangedandelion · 17/06/2015 23:03

Or how about micellar water. My friend with dry skin uses micellar water then bio oil as her moisturiser.

Orangedandelion · 17/06/2015 23:06

gerti city block was going to be my next purchase of SPF, if my piz buin or P20 were useless, however after your trial it's off my list. Thankfully as it's quite pricey.

Orangedandelion · 17/06/2015 23:10

I am currently cutting off tiny small corners of a clearasil pad to dab on my volcanic eruption of a spot.

ilovetosleep I feel the same about Eve Lom. Keen to move away from mineral oil and try something new but my skin looks great when I use it. Still waiting for my Emma Hardie balm to arrive. I didn't like the Ren balm cleanser at all - it made my eyes sting.

gerti I use micellar water as a first cleanse sometimes. I like it but it doesn't get my skin totally clean.

orange what about Skinceuticals sunscreen? It is next on my list to try. Sali Hughes and CH both use it and rate it.

Hiya all. I've been awol since the original thread. Has anyone got any thoughts on the Sunday Riley Luna oil? There are lots of reviews on the blogs but tbh, I don't trust them to be reliable (ie not undisclosed ads). Are the claims true? Does it really make a difference?
