I think oils do have a place but they need to be preceded by something watery to trap the water in. I have better results with my Decleor oils if I spray caudalie hydrating toner on first.

Orangedandelion · 15/06/2015 00:32

I am double cleansing pm, micellar water ( was superdrug vit e hot cleanser) up until a week ago followed by the lrp gel. And now only since yesterday it's take the day off followed lrp.
Does micellar water not count as a proper cleanse?
The SPF is in my foundation during the week whilst working and cc or Bb cream at the weekend unless I'm going out.

Orangedandelion · 15/06/2015 00:40

So my new pm routine will be

Take the day off balm
Lrp gel cleanser
Clearasil pad
Effeclar duo
And if dry later then youth code night by loreal or my tester of Clinique moisture surge which is very lovely. And if I'm feeling brave clarins lotus oil.

I'll save micellar water for late/exhausted nights

Orangedandelion · 15/06/2015 00:43

I find my makeup stays on really well with effaclar duo. I'm not going to wear SPF under my makeup because it just slides off although once summer hits properly I may have to reconsider although I'm hoping to have perfect skin by then Wink

diggerdigsdogs · 15/06/2015 02:53

Does anyone use hydralauron? I'm quietly surprised at how good it is. Found it at the chemist yesterday and tried once.

Do people use it as their only serum or use other serums with it?

Tried LRP ultra light fluid today. Don't like it at all and am going to ditch it. It balled and feels oily.

Picachew · 15/06/2015 10:40

Hydraluron didnt do anything for me digger, I binned it. Made my skin drier if anything!

Picachew · 15/06/2015 10:41

LRP Redermic then a Decleor night balm at night - yes or no please?

Sallystyle · 15/06/2015 12:05

So the red little spot things I talked about earlier when I moved up to a higher strength retin.

I am pretty sure they are tiny broken caps

Strangely enough I had quite a few appear on the side of my nose and I don't even put retin a on my nose Hmm

So now what do I do?

MsBojangles · 16/06/2015 10:48

Tried retin-a again last night and my skin has decided to play ball, huurah! It's like it's remembered what's going on, that it's not under attack and has stopped going into crocodile mode.

Timing could have been better though cause I'd already ordered Paula's Choice 1% retinol. I might eBay it.

yazzy85 · 16/06/2015 15:04

If anyone wanted to try out the nip+fab pads they are half price at boots at the moment, I ordered some online to try out and take away on holiday in place of a bottle of toner.

Kundry · 16/06/2015 16:46

Hydraluron but it did nothing for me and it's massively overpriced - it's effectively the same as the Aldi serum which costs peanuts.

It's hyaluronic and nothing else - so if you have dehydrated skin you might like it but it won't be doing anything else for ageing, pigmentation etc which is what I'm paying serum money for!

Hylamide was £30 to Hydraluron's £24, lasts way longer and is a far more sophisticated formula with a shed load of useful ingredients.

I don't think Hydraluron is supposed to be your only serum, it's supposed to be in addition to a serum that does all the other stuff and they are v honest about this - but I am a skinflint so don't see why I should pay for two products when one will do Grin

Kundry · 16/06/2015 16:50

Orangedandelion the Clearasil pads and the Effaclar Duo are basically the same ingredient - salicylic, you don't need both. Effaclar is also by far the better product as the salicylic is at a better pH and no alcohol so less drying.

You really really need a SPF under your makeup all year round!

Interested to see what you make of the Lotus Oil - they are v vague about what actual useful ingredients there are in it and it will take a lot to convince me that my naturally spotty skin will benefit from more oil.

Picachew · 16/06/2015 17:23

Anyone used peptabright?

Not sure if any of you have seen it, but Sali Hughes has a video on her website chatting to Caroline Hirons. This is part 1 so she explains her background and experience and in part 2 I think she is going to talk about products.

Hello back! I'm still moderately mindful regarding the wine ;). Thanks for the Decleor/Redermic info x

Orangedandelion · 16/06/2015 22:38

I keep trying new things and my skin just instantly tells me it's not happy and comes up red with small pimples in seconds so I have to re cleanse Hmm and swipe a clearasil pad, leave well alone, then it has calmed down in the next couple of hours. Clearsil pads are like magic to my skin when it goes bonkers.

Kundry - so I can just put on my effaclar duo on straight after cleansing then and that would be ok. I like the idea of that.

SPF will make my make up with added SPF slide off or I'm convinced it will block my pores. I'm not using retinols but I guess the effaclar duo will make my skin more sensitive to the sun. Well I'm at work all day anyway so don't really get to see much sun.

Orangedandelion · 16/06/2015 22:44

Moral of the story is do not experiment and pm double cleanse with the same balm no matter how lovely it feels as it will not thank you and be a bit red and angry for a while.

Balm then gel for me it is, it would seem.

Kundry · 16/06/2015 23:01

How much SPF is your makeup claiming to have? V few have serious amounts and you don't get even that much on your skina s makeup is applied so thinly.

There is oil-free SPF out there that gets on OK with makeup and doesn't block pores - what have you tried so far?

And yes you can just put on the Effaclar after cleansing. But as you say if you are exfoliating you are more sensitive to the sun, even through glass.

diggerdigsdogs · 17/06/2015 04:18

kundry thanks for that. Will might finish the tube and then buy something else. I don't have an aldi near me so will look in the UK.

Bradley I watched it too. Can't wait for the products video.

My postman can hurry the fuck up. Still waiting on my feel unique order. I have also just bought more stuff online as getting impatient.

ilovetosleep · 17/06/2015 15:09

Hi everyone

I've been off this thread a while (but still reading lurking obsessively!)while my skin repairs itself. Its proved to be very sensitive to active products - aha, bha, retinol, who knows. Maybe its silicones. But I've gone right back to basics to help repair my severely dehydrated and stingy skin. I'm still not 100% back to normal, think I had classic signs of over exfolation despite only using nip &fab, which I thought were pretty mild, but obviously I need to take it slower. Anyway I have a drawer full of new stuff I'm depserate to start re introducing but today I am beyond excited because my Cerave PM has arrived and I can't see how I can possibly be sensitive to any of the ingredients in there and they all seem to be very beneficial. Except for possibly niacinimide? There was one korean product I reacted to and I still haven't figured out if it was the niacinimide or the silicones. We'll see! It feels really lovely. I seem to be getting on quite well with oils as well at the moment, if I am using a facial oil should I use before or after Cerave? Can't wait to try it out tonight, I'm hoping it will fade the redness on my chin from old cystic spots.
