That suede one?

Or is it over-hyped, over-priced and over-exposed?

It's awful. And those leather dungers look like something you'd wear to work in an abbatoir. Who comes up with this crap?!? Shock

CointreauVersial · 14/05/2015 13:26

Still in stock, though. I figured the eBay crowd would have snatched them all up.

PinkSquash · 14/05/2015 13:28

Oh sweet jesus, that is one of the most awful clothing items I have ever seen.

M&S have lost the plot!

thelastflame · 14/05/2015 13:39

Hate the skirt but bloody love the thread.

"what fresh fuckery is this?"

Grin Grin Grin

OOAOML · 14/05/2015 14:31

Absolutely Koala the M&S website is a fascinating example of how to make women look awful. I'm a short fat woman - at least let me have the aspiration of looking at pictures on your website where the tall willowly models look good in your clothes. Because frankly, if they look bad in them, then I've no chance.

OOAOML · 14/05/2015 14:32

I wonder how many people bought the faux leather dungarees?

dexter73 · 14/05/2015 15:00

I bet Kanye has a pair of leather dungarees.

IloveChoo · 14/05/2015 15:07

That skirt would be SO tricky to wear for anyone other than a 6ft model with no hips...

I see what they were 'trying' to do, (70's chic), but the flare, the pockets & the length make it very unwearable for 98% of the population.

Good luck with that 2% m&s....

Kewcumber · 14/05/2015 15:12

Those leather dungarees actually made me gasp.

There are plenty of ugly brown skirt I can find for less than £199 so no, won;t be getting it here...

noddyholder · 14/05/2015 15:14

Its lovely but too many people will have it and I think unless you style it carefully it could look a bit fancy dress I have long hair and am a bit boho so on me it would be a no! Plus its overpriced and very recognisable as 'that skirt'

noddyholder · 14/05/2015 15:15

I have a navy one fro 2nd hand shop ancient but easier to wear as no detail on it.

Petal02 · 14/05/2015 15:17

I have no plans whatsoever to buy the M&S skirt - its awful!

noddyholder · 14/05/2015 15:19

Lots of lovely original ones in great condition on ebay around the 15-20 pounds mark

noddyholder · 14/05/2015 15:21

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Monsoon-Suede-Skirt-Size-10-Excellent-Condition/360253068426?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D30989%26meid%3D71462e1f7e0c423a86bf259a5d16aed8%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D351392737282&rt=nc this could be lovely with a little white broderie or cheesecloth type blouse and either strappy sandals or boots in winter More flattering shape the Marks one is too block looking

Coastingit · 14/05/2015 15:52

Oh yes there are shedloads on EBay, just clicked on noddy's link and all the 'related items' are suede A line midi skirts, dozens of them!

I think the skirt is alright although not really my thing - but I could never spend £200 on a fashion item from M and S, that's just crazy. £200 would buy all sorts of lovely things like a Cos winter coat, or Russell and Bromley winter boots in the Jan sales, or a Marc Jacobs sale handbag, or a Topshop spree of lovely things.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/05/2015 15:57

My mum had one like that in 1970 something, willowy thin and it suited her. Can see it looking really frumpy if not careful ( I hate the word frumpy but can't think of a more suitable one)

pictish · 14/05/2015 16:00

I love it - it's cool and retro and very much in keeping with my style. Unfortunately not only is it way beyond anything I'd ever spend on a skirt, it's also for tall willowy women with long legs. I am short and dumpy and would look fucking awful in it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/05/2015 16:03

Pictish - comfort yourself with the fact that after a couple of weeks it will look really filthy with kid's sticky fingers all over it,think of the dry cleaning bill!Wink

ChaiseLounger · 14/05/2015 16:13

Ha ha, it is truly awful isn't it? And at £200. M&S are in a bad place, aren't they?

cakeymakey · 14/05/2015 16:24

I really liked my M&S suede skirt. A lot. Now I'm not so sure....

The suede is beautiful, and although I am a dumpy 12-14 the fit is good and I think its flattering. I do believe its totally wrong for the season, but forsee a lot of wear from mine with boots and skinny jumpers in the winter.

Scuttles off.

pictish · 14/05/2015 16:25

Yes I know. I used to have a fabulous tan suede A-line patch pocket skirt as a youngster...lovely with an embroidered peasant shirt, wedges, chunky silver jewellery and a saddle bag.
Unfortunately my figure is rather more rotund these days.

RitaCrudgington · 14/05/2015 16:35

You've all made me really sad. I was going to use this as an excuse to rescue my "vintage" Oasis midi tan suede skirt from the back of the wardrobe and be a tiny bit on trend for once but you have all been horrid Sad.

What I learned from experience is that these are difficult to wear because they need high heels and a day which is not too hot, not too wet, will not involve toddler handprints or long walks (because of aforementioned heels) and doesn't involve socialising with hard core vegetarians. But my DC are no longer toddlers so I'd have given it a go if you weren't all so mean

Clearly if the skirt really was all that then it wouldn't be lurking right at the back of my wardrobe would it?

noddyholder · 14/05/2015 16:36

I think they skirts are nice generally but the Marks one is a bit bulky and will be everywhere. Get yours out and try it on!

rootypig · 14/05/2015 17:26

tethers, yes!

CambridgeBlue · 14/05/2015 17:27

I don't think there's anything wrong with suede skirts per se if you're going for a boho 70s look - I had a chocolate brown A-line one some years back and it was quite flattering. I think it's the length, the unnecessary details (pockets, pleat - or is it a split?) and the hideous colour that make this so horrible. Plus the stupid price - who'd pay that for something from M&S? apart from sheeplike fashion bloggers with rich husbands.
