Will anyone get 'the' M&S skirt?

That suede one?

Or is it over-hyped, over-priced and over-exposed?

It reminds me too much of the skirt my mum made out of my sister's brown cords after she'd put her knee through them in the late 70s! I'd pay £200 to not have to wear it.

EuphemiaCoxton · 14/05/2015 08:18

It's horrible.
It reminds me of what really really unfashionable people wore when I was little.
No. No. No.
If you want a 70s skirt go to a vintage shop and buy one. They aren't expensive.

BadgersArse · 14/05/2015 08:18

Lol at dexter

Sleepyhoglet · 14/05/2015 08:19

Frumpy and school teacher or the 70s style

Sleepyhoglet · 14/05/2015 08:21

A review of the dungas: I love wearing these out and about - and knowing no one else will have the same! So unique, and definitely an alternative to boring old formal wear.
Practical wipe-clean fabric too. M&S does it again!

Practical wipe clean!! - wipe off what? Spunk from your swingers party.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 14/05/2015 08:34

I hate this 70's fashion trend. Frumpy as fuck

CatOfTheWoods · 14/05/2015 08:53

TWO HUNDRED POUNDS!?

I've seen it hyped in loads of magazines etc but didn't realise the price! It's the kind of thing that could look great on someone who has their own unique style, knows it works for them and doesn't give a hoot for fashion. It would work only because it would be a quirky one-off.

It does NOT work as hyped-up flavour of the month that is supposed to be seen on everyone. It would make 99% of women look like a frumpily dressed turd.

Koalafications · 14/05/2015 09:00

It's hideous. Genuinely hideous.

And those faux leather dungarees, WTF?! I'm embarrassed for the designers at M&S.

FiftyShadesOfSporn · 14/05/2015 09:01

Still in stock in all sizes ...

Didactylos · 14/05/2015 09:02

what fresh fuckery is this?

mowglik · 14/05/2015 09:05

I love it! Wouldn't pay £200 for it though.. £60-70 max.

It's got good shape for a midi skirt and could look quite summery with white cotton boho blouses - if you like the look, which clearly most of you don't! Grin

SpecificOcean · 14/05/2015 09:14

Frumpy, potato sack, hillbilly, 70's librarian.

I can't decide but all looks I'm avoiding atm.

£200 Shock

FenellaFellorick · 14/05/2015 10:11

good grief.

No thanks.

It's, it's really not very nice at all, is it?

Maybe if they paid ME £200...

tethersend · 14/05/2015 10:57

I love it- I love the 70s, librarians and all Grin

I'm currently channeling Dave's mum from Dogger.

I was on the waiting list for the skirt, and got an email inviting me to buy before it went on sale... That's when I realised that it was a competently ridiculous price. I went on ebay and got a tan suede a line skirt with a matching waistcoat for £15. WINNER.

dexter73 · 14/05/2015 12:12

Someone on eBay is trying to sell the M&S skirt for £350! Bet they thought it would sell out straight away and they would make a few quid!

FiftyShadesOfSporn · 14/05/2015 12:33

Still in stock in all sizes ...

OP posts:
squoosh · 14/05/2015 12:37

It's grim.

The kind of thing I'd wear if I lived on a Mormon compound in 1985 with 27 sister wives.

Buttwing · 14/05/2015 13:04

I love it! Wouldn't pay £200 for it though. Would be good for a/w too black opaques a fine knit and boots.

zinnia · 14/05/2015 13:10

As I have found to my cost in the past, M&S's stock levels online are not "live", ie will often show "more than 10 in stock" when they're actually sold out.

Expect it to be showing out of stock in all sizes by tomorrow morning. Such is the power of hype (until the returns come flooding back, of course).

I actually quite like it, but a) it wouldn't suit me and b) not for £200!

CaTsMaMmA · 14/05/2015 13:11

anyone over a size 10 is going to look like a Sofa.

and it's not straight, its A-line

RuddyHellItsSoftCell · 14/05/2015 13:13

I'm 5'2", therefore no fucking chance!

KoalaDownUnder · 14/05/2015 13:15

It is laughable - 200 quid?!?!?!?!

The poppy's-style blogger is hyping it up, too.

It would suit absolutely nobody except maybe Kate Hudson, or some other hippie-ish nymphette, but they will all think they look fab in it.

TheWordFactory · 14/05/2015 13:15

I don't mind it. It's kinda rocking the Stella McCartney 70s vibe. Or trying to.

But the colour is a bit too tan for my liking.

MrsCampbellBlack · 14/05/2015 13:17

27 sister wifes Grin

Skirt is horrid.

KoalaDownUnder · 14/05/2015 13:18

Also, M&S should be beaten with a wet rag for their shitty styling skills. They couldn't have made it look more drab and sexless on the model if they'd tried.
