Just wondering what the main 'staple' products you use are for daily work/home life??

Mine are:
Nivea soft moisturiser
Dior star foundation put on with the backstage blender
Benefit big beautiful eye shadow 1 & 2 (no liner shadow)
Max factor masterpiece in black
Benefit hoola bronzer
Benefit watts up highlighter
M and s raspberry lip butter

Looks quite a lot Blush I'm only in NHS (mental health)..... Not a make up counter! Grin

First time poster here! Don't wear make-up but only because I don't know how to put it on. Would love to wear some as I know that it makes me 'zing'! Love getting eyebrows shaped and dyed and eyelashes dyed. So blonde that you can't see them without that and I always smudge mascara. Sensitive eyes are not a good match for eye make up. I don't even bother with any sort of day cream or night cream. Lazy. Wonder if I'm going to regret this when I'm older. Got a big birthday approaching (2.5 years to go)so no spring chicken here.

OvertiredandConfused · 18/04/2015 15:11

Bare minerals prime time
Helen E face base - still works best to give me an even tone
Bare minerals powder
Benefit Dallas blusher
Urban decay eyeshadow
Clinique brown/black mascara
Maybeline superstay 24 hour color in absolute plum

Takes 2 minutes

For an evening out I'll add

No 17 soft line eye pen in brown
Benefit high beam
More eyeshadow!
Might also swap to Chanel rouge allure on my lips

And I ALWAYS wear Chanel No 5 perfume!

RokensWife · 18/04/2015 15:13

Olay total effects cream
Benefit Sugar Bomb blusher
Benefit Watts Up highlighter
Bourjois clubbing liquid eyeliner
Bourjois curl mascara

pinkfrocks · 18/04/2015 15:19

Telephone did you mean to say Maybelline or did you mean L'Oreal True Match- because L'Oreal do one in ivory rose.

I was going to suggest the L'Oreal one, or maybe Rimmel or Boots No 7.

Boots have an offer with £5 off No 7 at the moment if you buy something in store- not sure the minimum spend but I spent £8 today and got the voucher.

teacoffeesomethingsweet · 18/04/2015 15:32

I LOVE make up.
On a normal day:
Clarins oil free moisturiser
Benefit porefessional primer
Dior forever foundation
Benefit loose powder (I think it's porefessional too?)
Benefit hula bronzer
Gosh mascara
Benefit eye liner
Gosh eyebrow thingy (shadow and wax thingy)
No7 lip gloss
Touche eclat if needed

It takes my under 10 minutes to do my face.

If I'm going out, I'll wear some eye shadow, I like dramatic smokey eye look.

good I love the middle look. What make is the eyeliner? Cause it looks fab!

beginningwithA · 18/04/2015 19:37

I work from home, so my work make-up is bare faced!

However, I generally don't leave the house to do day-to-day stuff without wearing:

Mac prep & prime
Mac Studio fix foundation
Priori Coffee Berry perfecting mineral powder (or Mac blot powder)
Yves St. Laurent Touché Eclat
Bobbi Brown Blush
Bobbi Brown eye shadow
Divaderme brush on eyebrow extender
Maybeline Master Precise liquid eyeliner (upper lid)
Smashbox Stay Perfect eye pencil (lower lid)
Benefit They’re Real Mascara (with heated eyelash curlers)
Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick

And I always have a pack of Superdrug mattifying shine control papers on hand too…

tearoomtrash · 18/04/2015 19:48

Nivea soft
Benefit Brow Zings
Benetint on cheeks and lips
Benefit high beam or Vaseline on cheek bone / socket line & Cupid's bow
Rimmel black kohl pencil
Benefit "they're real" mascara

Sometimes a dusting of corn silk on forehead.

If I'm going out I put a red Chanel lipstick on but otherwise the same.

PinkFrocks - you're right it's L'Oreal not Maybelline. Just testing. yeah right

I've tried Rimmel, and Boots own brand No 7 & their cheap teenage brand aswell. All too dark for me. I did find that Illamasqua do some pale enough for me even in winter but they are a bit pricey & takes a while to put on. I need something a bit more economical & quick in the morning!

Nemosdaughter · 18/04/2015 20:39

pressone I totally agree with you. I wonder how much the attraction of make-up for people who wear it (I don't, bar a 99p lipstick from the market) is the "me-time" you give yourself to put it on. Now I can empathise with that, the need for 5 mins "me-time" every morning. But spending lots of money to make myself look different / less tired / less natural etc - nope. For me, this would be a waste of "me-time"!

windchime · 18/04/2015 21:07

I have the unbeatable urge to go to John Lewis and buy more make up tomorrow Wink

I'm still laughing at "like colouring in. But on your own head" from way up thread. I love make-up, and have found reading these lists of product names very comforting, like the football scores, or the shipping news.

Max Factor Miracle Touch foundation no 70 natural. I have read the whole thread, and I don't think anyone else has mentioned this, but this is my absolute go to. I have been "colouring my head in" with this for, literally, years.
Max Factor flawless perfection blush in chestnut. I'll probably go for something with more pinky tones next time, as the chestnut looks too made up on me unless I blend it like mad.
Cheapo no brand black eyeliner.
Good old Maybelline pink square tube mascara.
Max Factor turquoise fury (I want that to be my super hero name) eye shadow.
Vaseline rosy lips, or boots no 7 lipstick.

cookoos · 18/04/2015 22:24

everyday:
smashbox primer
E L double wear in fresco
ysl touch eclat
stila blusher

alwaysrushing · 18/04/2015 23:11

Ooh. Love this thread. Love make up- love buying and putting it on- it's a little bit of creativity before off to load the washing machine.
Laura mercier primer
Eve lom mineral foundation ( fab)
Nars blush
Eye ko eyeliner
Bobbi brown taupe eyeshadow to blend
GORG Charlotte tilbury mascara
Nars lipstick in
Damage.
But it doesn't look that much when on. Just me but a bit better!!

goodasitgets · 19/04/2015 01:05

tea it's illamasqua gel pot Smile

Suzietwo · 19/04/2015 07:36

Suuuurrrrrely people don't have to explain why they wear make up?! Everyone looks better with some on and in lots of circumstances looking better is a good thing.

I'm 36 and wear make up if I'm going to work or out to an event where I'll see people I know. But not at home, school run, tescos etc. I don't particularly like it though and it comes off when I get home, assuming I haven't rubbed it off half way through a meeting and conducted the rest of it with panda eyes oh the shame (as an aside, how do people avoid this?!)

I use
Crappy concealer
ySL complexion enhancer or whatever they're calling it now (basically a v light foundation)
A mousse blush
Nano blur - God I love that stuff. Disguises unending assaults on the skin over a lifetime
Brown pencil liner, any

I tend not to use mascara until the afternoon as I think it's too heavy for breakfast meetings.

Am crap with lipstick. I like a nice apricot hue but have only found it in rubbish brands which come off with the first slug of coffee.

Stinkersmum · 19/04/2015 07:40

Pixi primer
Touché eclat
Benefit brown eyeshadow used as liner
L'Oréal tubing mascara
A bit of lip gloss.

My skin care is busier than that though....

DidgeDoolittle · 19/04/2015 09:43

As others have already said, I just love the creativity of putting on make up. I don't always wear it, if I'm just doing domestic stuff etc. However, that's usually a signal that I have a very tedious day ahead.
For my everyday face I use:

Clinique primer
YSL Touché Éclat foundation
Garnier roll on concealer under eyes
Chanel les Beiges powder
Stila cream blusher
Nyx eye primer
Urban Decay eyeliner
Benefit They're Real mascara
Lipstick- favourites are Nars pencil and Chanel something or other.
If it's hot or I really want it all to last, I finish off with Urban Decay fixing spray.

If I'm in the mood I will use Benefit or Bobbi Brown eyeshadows as well.

SuperFlyHigh · 19/04/2015 10:19

My daily routine if I haven't posted it before:-

Work days - usually it's Boots/superdrug stuff as I save the nicer stuff for nights/evenings - to be honest though you have to play around my foundation is fine for my work:-

Any foundation - Rimmel Wake Me Up or Maybelline Luminous for everyday or any other usually on offer or 3 for 2 deals.
Maybelline Lumi highlighter for under eyes
MAC Something Special Creme Blend Blush
Body Shop Navy eyeliner (optional)
Rimmel Nude eyeliner
Maybelline Colossal Mascara
Burts Bees Mango Lip Balm
MAC Syrup or Cosmo or Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Colour 5 (nude)
Bobbi Brown Bronzer in Aruba (with shimmer) or without (forget name)

Evenings/special:-

Clinique under eye concealor (Air brush/flash)
Chanel Vitalumiere (liquid)
Nars Compact Powder
Urban Decay shadows (got a huge case of them) and eyeliners. Not the Naked range I prefer to go darker for evening. I also have an old Virgin Vie smokey palette amongst others including MAC LE and Dior palettes.
MAC Wake Up lipgloss (red) or a nude one - usually Clinique sometimes Bonfire
Mac Russian Red lipstick (either or the lipstick and lipgloss)
YSL Faux Cils Black
Bronzer (see above)
Blusher (see above)

I used to use Benefit Dr Strangelove (primer) now looking into that or Rimmel's primer.

I did get and test Smashbox 24 hour photo finish primer (eyeshadow) as I recently got (decanted into a palette) orange and blues singles eyeshadows from MAC and I wanted them to stay on and last and not crease. Tried sample eyeshadow primer from Bobbi Brown and it was ok but the Smashbox is amazing!

I used to work in the city near a Space NK and really got into my makeup to the point where it got stupid - I used to only use Chantecaille, Shu Uemura, Nars etc and was a regular on Makeupalley boards. But that can bankrupt you!

I'm into colour and often if I'm wearing a teal/peacock blue dress I'll match it with MAC Parrot (old LE shadow) either on eyelid or as liner. I also used to go for combos you wouldn't go for (mint green with sheer metallic (Nars eyeshadow). My eyes are a strange mix of blue but also a touch of green so I can wear green clothes/makeup and look nice and wear navy (especially mascara) and it really brings them out. Although I like them sometimes I'm not mad keen on nudes/brown eyeshadows. Urban Decay Gash (a reddy colour) and MAC Orange really make my eyes pop in a good way!

I suppose I'm trying to say - you can always play with colour - its what I love - I used to spend ages in Space NK getting them to try new colours on me… I was scared of red lipstick for ages until I found my correct reds and it looks amazing - men/women say that… Try a gloss though if you're scared of a lipstick.

oh - a final thing - I used to use a Maybelline Dream Blush in I think peach/apricot (now gone?) and Benefit Cha Cha Tint over it - different combos (cheap and more expensive) can work really well.
