How many days wear from jeans?

How many days wear do you get from your jeans normally?

I see some mums at the school gates who look like they wear a fresh pair of jeans every day, without any bagginess at the knees etc. But that is an awful lot of washing and ironing. Just wondering what other people do?

2 wears and I iron (even after I tumble dry them)

FrugalFashionista · 06/04/2015 16:25

I think people who wear skinnies need to wash them fairly frequently to get them back to shape. I've moved on to other shapes (no lycra), closer to the original idea of denim, and they do not require frequent washing. Ironing is essential for flares and more relaxed shapes, everything looks better ironed. I think the no wash rule is for raw denim and sophisticated washes...

CremeEggThief · 06/04/2015 22:04

Anywhere between 4 and 8 days in a row.

RatOnnaStick · 06/04/2015 22:07

Spot-washing? Have they met my sticky mucky children? Spot washing would take me forever.

Greengardenpixie · 06/04/2015 22:07

2 days...a week?????? eugh! sorry but thats just way too long.

bloodyteenagers · 06/04/2015 22:11

Fuck me ironing jeans.. Too much time on people's hands..

Anyway. I don't actually know. I have loads of jeans that I have on rotation and in the morning after my shower I look at them and give them a sniff if they look clean.

As for knees wearing, skinnies are so last year.

I hang my jeans up straight after washing and I've never had any creases. I wash them after every 4 or 5 wears. My DH has some jeans that he has never washed Shock, they are about a year old but don't smell at all!! Is that a record?

Talisin · 06/04/2015 22:24

I don't even own a tumble drier. I'm honestly boggled by the number of people on this thread who iron what is surely the ultimate piece of throw-em-on casual wear that requires no ironing.

AlphaBravoHenryFoxtons · 06/04/2015 22:27

If you want to know how grubby your jeans really are after one day, wear a pair of white ones. Two to three days, max.

BackforGood · 06/04/2015 22:29

Only if they are visibly dirty. No idea how often as I don't tend to wear jeans several days in a row - I'll wear them one day but might not wear them for a week or two after that. However, they then go back in the draw, and I would only think of washing them if they looked dirty - say if I'd spilled something on them or splashed some mud up. Why on earth would you wash jeans after a couple of wears ? Confused Don't you people wear underwear ??

BabyGanoush · 06/04/2015 22:30

It gets dirty from the outside. Mainly mud.

About three wears. Always ironed - they wrinkle near the hem around the ankle if they aren't ironed. Mine don't seem to sag at the knee.

chickydoo · 06/04/2015 22:43

I'm stunned!!!
I wash my jeans/trousers after every wear,,as does every member of the household. I can't imagine putting on a used pair after a shower. I like to feel clean and fresh.

MadeMan · 06/04/2015 22:49

"My DH has some jeans that he has never washed shock, they are about a year old but don't smell at all!!"

Perhaps like hair, jeans start to self clean themselves after a few months.

Bunbaker · 07/04/2015 09:02

"I wash my jeans/trousers after every wear"

I'm stunned! That is so extravagantly wasteful and unnecessary. It's no wonder that some of the threads on here are written by people who complain about how much washing they need to do.

You must either be extremely sweaty and dirty, not wear underwear or are extremely fastidious.

Clarabumps · 07/04/2015 09:13

DH is a denim enthusiast( vintage, selvedge and vintage leather jackets and the like) and he has washed his jeans twice in the past year.

He spot cleans them, airs them on the line and in the twice he has washed them in a cold rinse. No detergent.

They are fine and they don't smell. You really aren't supposed to wash denim that often.
I do mine about once a week (much to his horror)but the majority of my denim is high street and not proper selvedge denim so I don't think it really matters that much as they'll be done in a year anyway.

ILoveYouBaby · 07/04/2015 09:20

it used to be every few weeks, but since dd I'm lucky to get a few hours out of them!

FeijoaSundae · 07/04/2015 09:35

Ironing jeans seems like such a Mum thing to do. Grin

I think if you're ironing jeans, you probably need to ask yourself whether jeans really are for you, and perhaps consider switching to slacks.

thenextday · 07/04/2015 09:36

I think I'm very fastidious Grin

MokunMokun · 07/04/2015 10:56

I used to have huge arguments with my mum when I was a teen over ironing jeans. I really hated having a crease.

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 10:59

2 days. YUK at a week

FreeButtonBee · 07/04/2015 11:03

Ordinary jeans - 3 days when home with the kids, less if obviously dirty but I try to get three days out of them to save the washing pile so they often get a scrub with a baby wipe if there's just a little patch of vomit something.

"Good" jeans - possibly longer. Really it depends on if they need washing to tighten them up - my non-skinny jeans get quite loose over the course of a couple of days.

SillyPops · 07/04/2015 11:07

Depends on the Jean...some of mine can be worn once only before going baggy, some others I will wear unashamedly for at least a week. No dirt + no baggies = a week of wear

BrandyAlexander · 07/04/2015 11:07

If I am with the kids they rarely last 2 days. Usually by the end of the day they are covered in dirt of some sort. Can't imagine going a week!
