How many days wear from jeans?

How many days wear do you get from your jeans normally?

I see some mums at the school gates who look like they wear a fresh pair of jeans every day, without any bagginess at the knees etc. But that is an awful lot of washing and ironing. Just wondering what other people do?

Twice and iron, they are not difficult to iron.

MadeMan · 05/04/2015 18:55

"Why the hell would you iron jeans!?"

To get that smart crease down the front of my best stonewashed.

dexter73 · 05/04/2015 19:24

Jeans aren't meant to be ironed imo. There is no real reason for this, they just aren't.

trapezoid · 05/04/2015 19:25

One day. I'd feel grubby otherwise. Definitely don't iron jeans!

Joyfulleastersquad · 05/04/2015 19:26

Depends on the quality.

My most expensive jeans never go baggy so until they are dirty. The cheaper pair start falling off my arse as the day goes on

iklboo · 05/04/2015 19:29

I've had the same jeans on for four days now Grin

thenextday · 05/04/2015 19:32

Every wear.
And I iron them

dexter73 · 05/04/2015 19:33

I only wore my jeans for one day yesterday as I dropped a gravy covered roast potato on them.

PowderMum · 05/04/2015 19:39

Until they need a wash, can be a week or more depending on how much I wear them and what I am doing. My expensive jeans for best I only wear for a few hours at a time so go for ages. Rarely are they ironed.

But according to MN I am not normal as I wear my clothes until they are dirty then wash them, not every time I wear them. I always smell fresh and my clothes last for ages.

AddToBasket · 05/04/2015 20:20

Apparently you aren't meant to over-wash denim. Not sure what that means, but I don't wash them until they look dirty.

MrsWonka · 05/04/2015 20:35

Thanks for the replies. I shall stop ironing my jeans!

DB is a fashion designer and previous job was as the principal jeans designer for one of the very hip brands. He says that jeans should never be washed...ever. They should be placed in the freezer to disinfect them and spot cleaning is OK.

I ignore his advice. I rotate my jeans (have quite the collection as he would pass on freebies to me, so I have at leat 20 of them. They probably get worn 3-4 times prior to washing.

avocadotoast · 05/04/2015 23:03

2-3 days, depending. I usually wear them over the weekend and wash during the week. Never ever ever iron them (but then, actually, I never iron anything really...)

But I do always wear skinny jeans, so perhaps baggier ones might go longer without a wash!

JemimaPuddled · 05/04/2015 23:11

I only wear skinny jeans, wear a couple of days then wash, never ever iron them, that's like ironing socks, surely Shock

Bunbaker · 05/04/2015 23:18

Why after only one or two days some of you? Are you exceptionally sweaty or dirty?

I would wear a pair for several days before washing them. I shower every day and never get really sweaty in jeans as I don't wear them in hot weather anyway.

southeastastra · 05/04/2015 23:20

a week

southeastastra · 05/04/2015 23:22

i agree with him mommatrix, i remember having some fab jeans that were ruined by washing. jeans were made to be hardwearing and not need washing for cowboys Grin

GobblersKnob · 05/04/2015 23:23

A week or two ish.

I have a few and rotate, washing kills jeans.

piggychops · 05/04/2015 23:24

A week

Koalafications · 05/04/2015 23:30

Umm, I don't think you should say.

probably 20 wears

WandaDorf · 05/04/2015 23:40

Blimey. I hope you're all lying through your porkie-pie spouting teeth.

Weeks. And weeks. Possibly months. Unless there's a gravy or wayward felt tip pen incident.

BlairWaldorfIsGettingMarried · 05/04/2015 23:48

Hard to say for me, because "a day's wear" usually equals an evening at home after work! I've read things saying less washing is better too, and I do believe that overwashing denim will wear it out more quickly. My (few) jeans usually get rotated a bit and washed all together. However I always seem to manage to spill food on new jeans the first time I wear them!
Also I only own premium denim, and find that it takes a good long time for them to need "tightening up" so that's not an issue.

Interesting article here.

BlueEyedWonder · 06/04/2015 14:08

I only wash my jeans when visibly dirty. I have around 7 pairs in various cuts and shades of denim. The less they're washed, the better they wear. I guess they get washed every 7-10 wears.
I don't have a tumble dryer and so do tend to very quickly run an iron over them.

MokunMokun · 06/04/2015 14:14

Yeah, I read the Levi's CEO said not to wash and hadn't washed his in over a year. He obviously doesn't have mucky kids though. Once a fortnight for me I guess.

BabyGanoush · 06/04/2015 14:44

Mine get muddy so wash them, muddy countryside dog walks, other people's dogs jumping up at you with muddy paws.... The mud is there September-June!
