Is this dress too young for me?

I am post-first DC. I have lost most of my baby weight (have a little bit around the tummy still.) Tomorrow night I'm going on my first night out with my DH and a group of our friends since baby was born. I bought quite a revealing dress from boohoo.com www.boohoo.com/joy-plunge-neck-strappy-bodycon-dress/invt/azz14514 because I wanted to look nice and sexy for DH. Only trouble is, I feel old in it. I can't tell if I LOOK old in it (as in it's not age appropriate) or whether it's just cheap and doesn't look classy on anyone. I'm 31 years old, 5''8 and weigh 64kg. So I'm tall and slim and I have the boobs for the plunge neck as I'm breast feeding (34D). There are no lumps and bumps sticking out, but it just looks wrong.

Do you think this is a dress for teens and twenty-somethings only?

It looks cheap and very very very not classy. Even a teenager would struggle to pull that off.

Sorry OP. Want us to have a look for alternatives?

whereisswampy · 05/02/2015 17:51

I like that you said that!

No on other options... I just wanted your opinion!

Ha, someone was in the office in the olive version of that this week.

Numbty · 05/02/2015 17:52

I think as a general rule if you feel confident in something then you'll look great. Not convinced about that one though I'm afraid.

InfinitySeven · 05/02/2015 17:53

Damn computer. Sorry!

WipsGlitter · 05/02/2015 17:54

It's a bit nighty like.

Do people really want to "look sexy" for their DP/DH??? I must be getting old!

Comito · 05/02/2015 17:56

Sorry, X post with your 'no other options' comment. Ignore the above.

GooodMythicalMorning · 05/02/2015 17:56

Im not sure many people could pull it off tbh. I like it though.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 05/02/2015 17:58

That's not a dress, it's an undergarment, surely?

Infinity someone wore that to work? Shock

rookiemere · 05/02/2015 17:59

Oh is it a slip ?
I wouldn't wear it, too much opportunity for boobs to slip out and when you sit down it will accentuate any lumps and bumps you have however small.

McSqueezy · 05/02/2015 18:00

You absolutely have to have the body for it - including pert breasts. I think anyone under 35 that fits that criteria could pull it off.

This forum is full of frumpy Boden types who will tell you it's awful though.

LovesBooks · 05/02/2015 18:01

Honestly? I say this very nicely

I think it is something I imagine a 17/18 year old in, not someone in their 30s with a child. Heck I am 22 and I would not wear that dress. It's a bit too much in my eyes. I wore that sort of thing when I was clubbing at 18. You can still dress up for your oh, sometimes more is less. I have a dress for our date next week that looks really nice and classy but will make it known to my oh I have stockings on underneath. Best of both worlds Grin

It's tacky, even if you are 18 and a size 8. I've got nothing against short and tight, but all that cleavage is pretty horrible. I don't think it's sexy.

EyelinerQueen · 05/02/2015 18:07

Infinity do you work at Spearmint Rhino???? Grin

OP here are a few suggestions. Still sexy (I love a sexy frock) but a bit more structured and classy in my opinion.

Will you feel differently about it when you start to get that Friday feeling, getting ready to go out, doing your hair and makeup can make you more confident about an outfit. If you wear it well then go for it. What you wear with it and how you acessorise it can also change the feel. Boyfriend blazer would make it stylish, where as fur coat much more glam.

Branleuse · 05/02/2015 18:10

its clubwear/sex dress. Not one for a date out of the house

and are you really sure you wear a 34 band bra at that height and weight?

stripytees · 05/02/2015 18:12

It really looks like a slip, I'd think you forgot to wear your dress on top of it. Really tacky for any age or shape.

50ShadesOfSummer · 05/02/2015 19:05

ScotsLass has a point. Will you feel good in it when you get ready to go out, have a couple of glasses of wine? If so, wear a jacket and enjoy it. If you're still unsure send it back. Nothing to do with age.

I wouldn't wear it 'cos I haven't got the boobs for it!

Meloria · 05/02/2015 19:08

Looks tacky on any age, sorry.

That is way too revealing on anyone! OMG...you will have half the population oggling your boobs! Not sure that your dh would want that!
