Is this dress too young for me?

I am post-first DC. I have lost most of my baby weight (have a little bit around the tummy still.) Tomorrow night I'm going on my first night out with my DH and a group of our friends since baby was born. I bought quite a revealing dress from boohoo.com www.boohoo.com/joy-plunge-neck-strappy-bodycon-dress/invt/azz14514 because I wanted to look nice and sexy for DH. Only trouble is, I feel old in it. I can't tell if I LOOK old in it (as in it's not age appropriate) or whether it's just cheap and doesn't look classy on anyone. I'm 31 years old, 5''8 and weigh 64kg. So I'm tall and slim and I have the boobs for the plunge neck as I'm breast feeding (34D). There are no lumps and bumps sticking out, but it just looks wrong.

Do you think this is a dress for teens and twenty-somethings only?

You can't put your finger on why it looks wrong on you. I think it might be that it looks like you're trying to hard.

Floisme · 05/02/2015 22:27

I'd wear it with a chunky jumper, thick tights and boots.

SkilledatSkiving · 05/02/2015 22:32

It's tacky looking and even a nubile teen would struggle to not look cheap in it.

Teeb · 05/02/2015 22:45

It's a bit much

Comito · 05/02/2015 22:54

Some of these comments about prostitutes and strippers are a bit uncalled for. It's likely 99% of us wouldn't couldn't wear it but I don't think those replies are helpful and a bit insulting towards the OP.

That said, when I was scanning through the other pages on boohoo for alternatives, my 'people wear THAT?!' radar was pinging madly. Grin

Nextwednesday · 05/02/2015 23:03

Are you brave enough to post a pic of yourself in it?

Greengardenpixie · 05/02/2015 23:04

I am too still tring to get over the fact someeonecwore that to work?....

TRexingInAsda · 05/02/2015 23:12

I like it. But I'm a big fan of wearing whatever the hell you want and screw what anyone else thinks tbh. The problem is how comfortable you feel in it. You need to feel great and confident, and it doesn't sound like this dress is doing that for you - it sound the opposite in fact. And you will be more self conscious when you're out than when you're trying it on at home.

RubyFlint · 05/02/2015 23:22

It's all about how you feel isn't it, you're having doubts so I'd say don't do it!

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 05/02/2015 23:27

It does look a bit strip club, but if you like it, wear it!

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 05/02/2015 23:31

I'm 32 and latest dress purchase is this that-celeb-look.com/image/cache/data/Dresses/Michelle%20Keegan%20Sleeveless%20Racer%20Front%20Bodycon%20Midi%20Dress-1-500x500.jpg

My 63yr old mother picked it out for me!

AHatAHatMyKingdomForAHat · 05/02/2015 23:31

Legs or tits. Never both.

There's a reason you feel uncomfortable in it. It is bad.

You are right, it is cheap, I can't believe anyone would look "classy" in it.

What will you wear instead?

RubyFlint · 05/02/2015 23:36

There's a review from someone who owns it and they suggest wearing something to cover the plunge! Vaguely reminds me of the Inbetweeners.

Notrevealingmyidentity · 05/02/2015 23:52

I personally think I would get away with it because I look about 17 and have no boobs whatsoever.

Any woman with boobs or even a figure really would look very tarty.

LeonardWentToTheOffice · 05/02/2015 23:57

Thinking this dress is a little too wild for LAURA from East Grinstead Grin

Did the olive one in the office look as yellow as in the pic?

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 06/02/2015 01:04

Most men are quite visual, and if your husband is too, and your goal is to excite him, then the dress should serve its purpose. Does it matter if other women might think you look tarty? You'll be going home with your husband, and it's his temperature you're trying to raise, no?

KristinaM · 06/02/2015 06:56

If her husband is in his 30 , and he needs that much help, there is something wrong ....

KristinaM · 06/02/2015 06:57

30s obviously

FrancesNiadova · 06/02/2015 07:44

SWAMPY you go for it. You sound like you have a fantastic figure but lack the confidence. So, make-up, get some double sided sellotape & be SASSY instead of SWAMPY.

We never know what life will throw at us. I ended up with breast cancer and a mastectomy. I wish that I'd had the confidence to wear something like that when I was younger...& had the photos to prove it!

It looks like a fantastic dress & I bet every jaw will drop when you walk into the room. Put your head up, shoulders back & boobs out & you go for it! Wine

PS Let us know how you get on. Hope you have a good night out!

ourglass · 06/02/2015 07:48

Stealth boast?

pinkfrocks · 06/02/2015 07:54

It's just awful.

If you are breast feeding aren't you worried about leakage? You won't be able to wear a bra and 34Ds are too big to go without- breast feeding or not.

It looks like a nightie or a slip.

Far, far too much flesh would be on show.

TRexingInAsda · 06/02/2015 08:05

You can get deep plunge bras specifically for this type of neckline. If you are breastfeeding it's a good dress tbh. I chose all my clothes on the basis of how easy they were to wop a boob out of all the time I bf'd.

pinkfrocks · 06/02/2015 08:09

so the OP will be wopping a breast out during a sexy dinner with her DH Hmm ( and the baby will be where, exactly?)

DropYourSword · 06/02/2015 08:11

Does no one else notice that it's photoshopped to oblivion around the cleavage?

KristinaM · 06/02/2015 10:32

Pin-it's a night out with Dh and their friends

Im sure she will be the centre of attention
