Is this dress too young for me?

I am post-first DC. I have lost most of my baby weight (have a little bit around the tummy still.) Tomorrow night I'm going on my first night out with my DH and a group of our friends since baby was born. I bought quite a revealing dress from boohoo.com www.boohoo.com/joy-plunge-neck-strappy-bodycon-dress/invt/azz14514 because I wanted to look nice and sexy for DH. Only trouble is, I feel old in it. I can't tell if I LOOK old in it (as in it's not age appropriate) or whether it's just cheap and doesn't look classy on anyone. I'm 31 years old, 5''8 and weigh 64kg. So I'm tall and slim and I have the boobs for the plunge neck as I'm breast feeding (34D). There are no lumps and bumps sticking out, but it just looks wrong.

Do you think this is a dress for teens and twenty-somethings only?

Awful dress.

There are so many beautiful classy dresses around - and it certainly isn't that one

InfinitySeven · 05/02/2015 19:19

Not spearmint rhino. In a financial institution... Which is why I recognised it, it was talk of the office.

No idea if she was planning on going out or she just wanted a new look, but it certainly got everyone's attention.

SlicedAndDiced · 05/02/2015 19:26

It's actually op's dp that posted this isn't it? Wink

scarletforya · 05/02/2015 19:32

A teenager with a small chest could wear it clubbing or on holidays. Woman with boobs....No way!

Inthedarkaboutfashion · 05/02/2015 19:37

You could wear it as long as you put a dress over it - it is an under slip isn't it?
They must have put the wrong info on the website and labelled it as a dress instead of an undergarment.
Nobody, not even an 18 year could wear that as a dress.

Twinklestein · 05/02/2015 20:31

I wouldn't have worn it when I was 17. It's fine as a night dress, or for soliciting...

My gob is truly smacked that anyone could would wear that to the office. In February.

queenbrunhilda · 05/02/2015 20:40

OP, you sound like you'd look great in anything, but if it's not making you feel good, it's not for you.

lurkingaround · 05/02/2015 20:43

I'm bursting to know what kind of office would find that dress suitable as workwear!! Belinda where are you??? Whaddya think??

Sorry OP, not even as a flat chested 18yo. Awful. That dress is a man's choice.

ouryve · 05/02/2015 20:43

This forum is full of frumpy Boden types who will tell you it's awful though.

Nice Hmm

PrimroseEverdeen · 05/02/2015 20:45

I'm sorry but I really don't like it. It looks cheap and nasty.

Twinklestein · 05/02/2015 20:46

I can't stand Boden, but that doesn't make the dress ok. Both are undesirable for different reasons.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 05/02/2015 20:46

I quite like it.

But what on earth are you posting here for? you know the law is once you become a mum you can only wear "skinnies and a sparkly top" on nights out. Grin

InQuiteAPickle · 05/02/2015 20:46

I might have worn that sort of thing when I was 18 when my boobs were where they were supposed to be but not now. I am the same age as you.

If I were to wear that out with DH he'd be hovering over me with a cardi all night, trying to cover me up!

And it looks like the sort of dress that would be seen on the Bigg Market, sprawled across the pavement, with random boobs and legs sticking out everywhere and a half empty bacardi breezer nearby.

OK, not a nice image, but a common one.

Twinklestein · 05/02/2015 20:50

Very common as my grandmother would say.

InQuiteAPickle · 05/02/2015 20:55

"I may have worn it when I was 17 and on the prowl. Complete with stripper heels and a Smirnoff ice in hand."

Ah, thems were the days! Grin

MissBeehiving · 05/02/2015 20:58

Does have the air of a foundation garment about it

KristinaM · 05/02/2015 21:00

If you want to look sexy for your DH I'd wear that dress in the bedroom

And look for something more stylish and fun to wear on your night out with friends

Mrsstevejones · 05/02/2015 21:02

Sorry i dont think the dress is very classy, even with your fab sounding figure. I loved the asos burgundy double layer dress posted earlier - very classy yet sexy.

p.s hate boden and never wear skinnies and a sparkly top on a night out! Not much older than you.

If you havent been scared off, let us know what you did wear

DarkHeart · 05/02/2015 21:23

It's vile sorry not classy at all and yes you are too old to wear it (and i am older than you)

burnishedsilver · 05/02/2015 21:31

It's a very 'pretty woman' and not in a good way. That is not a dress for a woman interested in looking in any way classy.

Homepride1 · 05/02/2015 21:37

I have a dress the same as that and have worn it loads, I'm 34, inch shorter than you, size 8 and 32D implants and have always got lots of compliments! I'm actually wearing mine out in Saturday for my first night out since dd4 was born 4 months ago.

But agree with others if you don't feel confidant then don't wear it, but if you do then go for it you will look great Grin

bigbluestars · 05/02/2015 21:40

God no- totally classless. You may get away with it working in a strip club. Looks like a "working" ladies dress.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 05/02/2015 21:44

I tell you what else, 34Ds that are currently feeding are not going to be supported or comfortable in that. You won't be able to get a proper bra under it...
