Style blogs for thirtysomething's?

What blogs or pinterest boards do people follow for style and fashion ideas? I'm (just) 36 on maternity leave with my 2nd DS and am finally able to have a proper look at my clothes knowing I am unlikely to need maternity stuff again.

I love Putting Me Together. nothing groundbreaking but has been really helpful to me.

The Happy Bits of 2014 post on the Kat blog is just like one of the much maligned on MN Christmas round robin letters, hilariously smug!

Putting Me Together has changed my wardrobe this week, the reimagining clothes articles are miracle workers!

She really likes Boden, doesn't she Zammo?

I don't think she dresses horrendously (different style to me, but sweet outfits), but she is actually Boden woman, isn't she?

The Kat blog really is funny, basically doing advertising for boden. I do find people who blog their entire lives (only the sanitised, no zits version mind) very narcissistic. I always read a few pages hoping to find some wondrous insight into why they are popular, but fail and give up.

I find KatGotTheCream a sweet blog to read. She talks about her depression and anxiety and also about when her husband lost his job and they were hard up. She went back to work not long after having her baby and then felt that she was missing out on precious years so left and has been working hard to make her blog pay. She is doing well. I like it because its not the same old clothes that a lot of the other bloggers all seem to wear which gets a bit boring.

Hmmmm. I'm mid thirties and I would not hold up Kat as a style icon to emulate. It is very Boden. You could pick random items out of the Boden catalogue, put them together, and have exactly the same image as her.

I don't want a photo of a plate of fucking love hearts. How old is she?! Broke my arse. They probably had to sack the cleaner.

Kat's blog is certainly very professional in terms of photography etc.

But it does look like she only wears boden.

Oh god, she's going to come on here in a minute when she sees all the traffic from here.

Boden seems to have put a lot of their marketing effort into blogs over the last year. A lot of them, like the love hearts one, come across like spoofs from Private Eye. There is a great one they link to from their website, supposedly done by someone in their 20s but comes across as something written by a teenager living on a nice big allowance from Daddy. I work so the most useful blog I look at is theworkwearedit.com - sorry link doesn't seem to have worked. Belinda tries on loads of stuff & you get photos of things that don't suit or fit instead of the usual blogger photos of only the best fitting outfits. Also like poppys-style.com for fun - as she fluctuates in weight like I do, & she wears a huge variety of somewhat bizarre things - unlike the usual blogger outfit of jeans, top & jacket.

I liked the Kat blog too, I wouldn't normally post but I thought if she did come looking here I'd like her to know that some people like her writing. I think it is nice that she gives an insight into her life. I also think that her writing flows well and is very readable.

I enjoy lots of style blogs but they do seem to all wear the same things. Like the month last year when all of them decided that they loved New Balance trainers. I think pretty much every UK style blogger suddenly acquired a pair. It illustrates how modern marketing is very manipulative in quite a surreptitious way.

However, they are enjoyable to read and cheaper than a magazine! It's good that there are a variety of blogs to suit everyone's tastes.

Susie So So is probably my favourite style blog. She is a very likeable blogger.

It's the same with beauty bloggers, avonlea, everyone raving about exactly the same must have product that's the miracle of all miracles and then you never see them talk about it again even though it was fantastic and the best thing they'd ever used and blah. So transparent.

That Kat blog is not representative of my fashion style but it's not offensive, content wise, twee yes but not offensive. They are a beautiful family, living in a picturesque spot and she has a blog that is easy in the eye. I'm sure her life isn't all gastro pubs and boutique breaks in fun prints with her angelic children and chiseled, stubbled DH, but so what? It's a bit of escapism to read with your coffee.

Thanks for the suggestions when I finally get the baby down for a nap, get dressed and the toddler is out with his grandparents I'll take a look.

I like the frugality blog the best. The Kat that got the cream blog is cute, i agree with squeezycheese that her life probably isn't as amazing as it looks, all blogs have an air of that though, don't they?

Oh and school run style (not gate) is good, I like how she writes about styles/ fashions and then tries it out for herself at the end.

I think the new regulations about disclosure for vloggers which will surely soon apply to bloggers will make some blogs very interesting, ie, will become super clear how many freebies they get.

I don't personally like blogs which show pictures of their children the whole time - I don't think it is fair as those children certainly haven't consented. I bet that all becomes subject to tighter regulation in the future too.

Oh one good one is buynowbloglater - I do think she is a lot more honest than most bloggers.
