Style blogs for thirtysomething's?

What blogs or pinterest boards do people follow for style and fashion ideas? I'm (just) 36 on maternity leave with my 2nd DS and am finally able to have a proper look at my clothes knowing I am unlikely to need maternity stuff again.

My favourites are All Worn Out- Eve in particular, Wearing It Today- Laura can be annoying but she does find some great things- inspiration mainly though as her budget is crazy. I also like the Frugality. I used to love does my bum look 40, but I think her style has gone off the boil slightly.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 07/01/2015 10:39

i kind of like the kat blog. She seems quite down to earth but in a very Harrogate way! I used to liv in York and always wanted to move to Harrogate as obviously my life would then have been perfect! Wink seriously everyone I knew who lived in Harrogate had the big house, perfect husband, perfect children, endless boden. and john lewis advert lives.

Instead I moved back down south and have horrible children and husband and a rubbish lie (joking, kind of)

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 07/01/2015 10:40

life not lie and strike through error Blush

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 07/01/2015 10:43

I still read dmbl40 even though I don't relate to her at all anymore. ne thing that annoys me about some blogs is endless pictures of what they could buy and then they never do buy, or they list 10-15 high street versions, and one or two high end and they of course buy the high end item. Sorry dmbl40 I'm looking at you here, lots of toga pulla boots look alikes as you can't justify the toga pullas and then you buy them anyway, same with dresses and coats etc. She's not the only one by any means though.

MrsCampbellBlack · 07/01/2015 10:45

I find the fake talk of budgets incredibly irritating. Most of the bloggers clearly have a large budget which is fine but don't pretend you angst unduly over buying luxury brands.

This was brilliant to get me started and motivating me to buy appropriately/carefully.

StupidFlanders · 07/01/2015 10:57

This is good too (she looks like me so it's quite useful!)

Millli · 07/01/2015 11:46

I also have started looking at www.annasaccone.com/ She is way younger than me but I love dipping into her family life occasionally. Not strictly a fashion blog (although she does a bit of fashion in it) but I enjoy it.

Another I love is boutiquebootcamp.blogspot.co.uk/ She wears lots of ebay purchasers.

I went off fashion blogs last year when they all seemed to jump on the bandwagon and wear the same thing.

Millli · 07/01/2015 11:50

"purchases"......sorry bad spelling.

SuperFlyHigh · 07/01/2015 11:52

I know you like blogs... (I generally can't stand them myself).

what is your style and what would you like to look like? is it worth buying a few cheapie magazines (Reveal etc) and maybe Red - to get an idea of what you like/can afford etc, maybe even post on here?

I often get Reveal for their style ideas and also Red - so I can incorporate the cheaper trendier items (Reveal) into my wardrobe and the classics/style etc from Red.

ZammoMcGuire · 07/01/2015 12:21

Vomit at un fancy too. Jeans and boots. Yada yafda. Imagine sending a photo of yourself to mates at xmas

ZammoMcGuire · 07/01/2015 12:24

And agree. Fuck off with the kids

WipsGlitter · 07/01/2015 12:32

I don't mind that Kat blog. And she got a SOFA!! Wow!

Will check out the others when i'm not in work when I get home.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/01/2015 12:35

Kat one is awful.

Just looked at Un-fancy and I like it. It's sensible/practical and I like that she wears the same things again and again - much more realistic than the blogs where they get so many freebies (or their husbands earn so much) that they are always getting new things.

AmberNectarine · 07/01/2015 12:41

Sometimes the bloggers themselves have their own means Remus Wink

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 07/01/2015 12:45

amber- I read your blog and am green with envy at your lovely new shoes and bags etc. your budget is way beyond mine. Did your dh have a comprehensive Christmas list or is he just bloody brilliant Wink

and wow, lucky thing getting a free sofa from John Lewis. envious at that too.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/01/2015 12:47

Yes, sometimes, Amber. You are right.

MrsCampbellBlack · 07/01/2015 12:51

I do think most don't though. To do a really good blog takes so much time that would make working fulltime in a demanding job pretty hard.

Well unless you're WIT and it is very much an extension of your job.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 07/01/2015 12:52

Dmbl40 always looks the same to me. I don't mind her write style but it's just the same old pics of tunic-y type dresses in navy or Breton tops or clunky shoes or more marks and bloody spencer handbags. Dullsville... And if I have to look at one more shot of those effing kitchen cupboards as a background

WipsGlitter · 07/01/2015 13:10

I agree BMBL40 has gone off a bit. She seems to wear the same things all the time!! Which I find really hard to believe.

Also, I cannot relate to people who have loads of clothes any more, I have blue jeans and black jeans. One pair of each!!

I really like Susie So-So she doesn't seem to take herself too seriously.

As has been said before when it goes from hobby to business the whole tone seems to change.

shins · 07/01/2015 13:24

I love into-mind as well. I don't really like many of the "reality" bloggers (that Boden-obsessed one made me laugh) though I like reading Garance Dore who is ridiculously "up there" in terms of style, budget and everything else - she's not a real life inspiration as such (hah!), I just like looking at her lovely photos.

I like That's Not My Age too, though she's more 40+.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 07/01/2015 13:58

Whilst you are all here, are there any bloggers that do style and running? I know that sounds like a weird combo but I don't want an uber sporty blog full of fartleks, more of a normal lifestyle blog withn a bit of running thrown in. Anyone know one, write one or follow one?!

AmberNectarine · 07/01/2015 14:16

style guile mentions her running. I am a runner too but I don't post much about it - my km splits won't impress anyone.

HelpMe I have a Pinterest board where I pin things I may like to receive. He does occasionally go off list but he has been v busy at work this year and had no time for independent thought. I'm not complaining!
