More crepey wisdom.....

OP posts:

Rose - that is awful. Did they not warn you the website info for the Festival was going up? Very, very poor.

MI - I love those photos, although I'm worried that you seem to be sharing a student house with Jeffrey Dahmer.

bigTillyMint · 06/01/2015 17:58

I am dreading DD coming home. Just had a call asking me to pick her up from school, but DH has the car (taking DS to his footy as new team) - she sounds overwrought to say the leastSad

wilbur · 06/01/2015 17:59

I think it's the glasses.

Sorry, x posts, BTM. Hope DD ok Sad.

motherinferior · 06/01/2015 18:06

Oh lord, BTM, how very worrying.

bigTillyMint · 06/01/2015 18:09

I should say it's because she's tired and fed up because she has lots of work to do, not AFAIK because of another upset.

bigTillyMint · 06/01/2015 18:11

And because DH always seems to have the car to ferry DS whenever she wants a liftConfused

Rosebag · 06/01/2015 18:37

No, no…I knew the play wasn't going to the festival…because me and ConS withdrew it as we were dissatisfied with how things were being handled. Its just seeing al the publicity out there…on the fb page, emails, website etc. I feel really sad about it. Nevertheless we are continuing to write and are carrying next week. I have just drafted the (incredibly difficult and poignant) final scene. ConS is working on a scene involving a row between two of the characters where she accuses him of having an affair.

I have today exchanged emails with someone I work with, who is a director and does castings. I have asked her if she has a few actor friends who will do a reading for us. She said 'yes'!! Let's see if ConS agrees.

MI blokes to get a bit proprietal about washing machines and dishwashers, I find. And you are most certainly not a failure!

Tilly Oh poor DD and poor you.

lalsy · 06/01/2015 20:29

BTM, horrid getting phone calls like that. I hope she's OK once she's home and calmed down.

ds is looking pretty whacked already, three more exams tomorrow, but X box cures fatigue and teaches you Spanish, right? Grin

Rose, that must feel very sad and odd but good on you for keeping going. I am sure it will be worth it.

No, MI, you are not.

Slipper News - my Homeys arrived, I fell in love, they were too small (weird sizing system), dd swooped them up and I am letting her keep them Confused. Trying not to get too excited as I order a larger pair - they could be too big, and my Holy Slipper Grail will shuffle ever further away.....

addle · 06/01/2015 20:41

BTM hope dd is ok - it's hard going back to school at this point, i think. must seem quite exhausting at time

Thanks all for the good wishes which have enabled me to meander through my first couple of days without major bollocks

Rose sorry about the sadness but the readthrough sounds likes good news

No suggestions for pepper grinders I notice ? why slippers and not grinders? equally crepey surely? although homeys are very fine and i'd like a pair too now

DD back to college today , is sad but there will be much less detritus

lalsy · 06/01/2015 20:54

Addle, I have a couple of Good Grips things and they work, even in my hands. They do pepper grinders (which I think are rather youthful and dashing objects). Splendid range www.lakeland.co.uk/search/pepper-grinders/q02.r16.1.

My links never work - anyone any ideas why? I use Chrome.

Student homecoming = Joy plus immediate halving of size of house.

Rose, sorry about the festival, but good news about the actors and the read through. Fingers crossed for you.

BTM, I hope DD is sorted out by now without too much fall out.

Addle, well done on getting through the first two days.

I am knackered. We took DGC to Cullercoats on the Metro and I am afraid we succumbed to fish and chips and, to make matters worse, they were crepey fish and chips, otherwise known as the pensioner's special.

DS didn't get the keys to the new house until three o'clock and the removal men left just before 7.30! He, his DW and the baby are now ensconced in the guest room upstairs, I think they're shattered.

QueenQueenie · 06/01/2015 21:08

this little beauty is what you need Addle.

or this if you're feeling flush...

Well that is the style I'd recommend although can't vouch for the cheapish Amazon one. Ours is a Peugeot and we inherited it!

motherinferior · 06/01/2015 21:15

When exactly do you hear, Rudy?

addle · 06/01/2015 21:47

QQ - I've heard of the wonders of the old Peugeot grinders.

Thank you all who responded to my pepper flounce.

NU - how lovely that your DS and family can ensconce with you rather than sitting surrounded by packing boxes

herbaceous · 06/01/2015 22:24

What ho. What a tiring day. Up betimes, to frogmarch DS to breakfast club, then to teaching practice. Nervous, as ever, despite planning late into last night. It wasn't supposed to be a 'formative' observation, but Miss came trotting over during my teaching and said she wanted to make it a formal assessment as it was the best lesson she'd seen me do! Result!

I celebrated by spending £25 in the Clarks factory shop nearby on a pair of dark green suede brogues. I think they're more 'quirky' than 'lesbian', though I'm not sure DP is convinced.

QueenQueenie · 06/01/2015 22:32

Will you be channelling the Merry Men Herbs? Grin. Well done on the teaching front!

Auriga · 06/01/2015 23:24

Hi all. Thinking of those waiting for test results & parents of stressed teens. DD has started her mocks & seems cheerful about them so far. DM's cataract operation was a breeze. One sister is going back to work p/t.

I'm still struggling with awful cold/throat, so have worked but done nothing in house. Washing is backed up, fridge almost empty, Christmas tree still up. Can't be helped. I'll know I'm getting better when I have an irresistible urge to clean and tidy.

QueenQueenie · 06/01/2015 23:37

Hope you feel better soon Auriga, it's miserable being ill at this time of year. Glad the mocks seem to be going well - ds2 also started his mocks today and seems quite sanguine about the whole thing. Here GCSEs and A2s in the same year = bad planning!

lalsy · 07/01/2015 00:14

Ouch QQ, but you'll get it over with faster? ds cheery too (without cause I suspect). The heating in their school is broken and for a horribly selfishmoment I thought they might close.

Auriga, hope you feel better soon, and do resist cleaning urges. It never ends well.

MontserratCaballe · 07/01/2015 06:47

Good luck to all those with DC doing mocks. Very stressful time.

Auriga, so sorry you are ill. Hope soon better.

Hatty, how did DD1 get on at the Dr? All OK I hope. And BTM, sorry about your DD's distress flare yesterday. I hope she is OK too.

Rose, so sorry yesterday was a difficult one. Hope you are feeling better after some good sleep.

I don't think I am going to be able to make Brock on Saturday as I have to take DD1 swimming then off to collect DD2 from a party. Will text BTM if I can get this changed. Russell Sq ladies, how about Thurs 29th for coffee / lunch?

I have made a huge blunder (socially) at work, by revealing to a couple of people about a colleague who has resigned. I wasn't told in confidence (I don't think) and so mentioned it but now resigning colleague is a bit Hmm that lots of people know. Oops. Who needs email to get a rumour round when you've got me, eh? Hope it will soon blow over......

Have a good day everyone.

Rosebag · 07/01/2015 07:12

Auriga wish you better. I am on week for of chronic catarrh and intermittent sort throat. Ah well, we struggle on….

QQ we have a similar gap and will have A2s and GCSEs in Summer 2016. I am thinking of going missing for the duration Grin In my better moments I just see it as only 5 terms to go before we are shot of school FOREVER!!!!

Monty If it wasn't a secret your conscience should be clear!! What's the big secret anyway! Don't feel bad. 29th is looking quiet for me at the moment. Smile The earlier in the day, the better.

Thanks, all for kind worlds about my angst yesterday. Have had a voice mail from contact who says she has a group of actors who would be interested in a reading of the play but we'd have to find their travel expenses. Need to discuss with ConS next week.

Right must get DD up. The DC had a late night last night with the penultimate show…I offered to drive DD in to school as it gives her an extra 45 mins sleep. Have a good day Crepeys.

hattymattie · 07/01/2015 07:24

Hello crepeys. Hope all who have seasonal bugs are holding up and good luck to all who have mocks.

QQ - I have my fingers crossed for your DS on Friday. I remember how stressful this time last year was.

We've had a hectic couple of days with DD trying to see medical professionals before she leaves on Saturday. So far all seems normal but the most important is to see the neurologist on Thursday just to rule out epilepsy - the GP and the cardiologist, however, think it's not that. She'll have to continue her tests in the UK but luckily has a fairly laid back GP who is used to treating students.

Also, we have had our nephew staying a couple of days as he had job interviews in Paris and tonight we have a friend of DH's who is moving back from London and has to meet the removal van at 8 am tomorrow. All this, and the brutality of the 6.30 am starts have made for quite a busy week so far. I am trying to cook in mid afternoon so that I have something to sling onto plates when the troops reassemble at about 8pm.

Dnephew has snuck in the shower ahead of me - still he has to smell good for his job interview.

Sales start in France today but reckon I won't get a look in till next week.
