four not for….
words not worlds...

bigTillyMint · 07/01/2015 08:29

Thanks for all your concern - DD was exhausted and non-communicative, so I am hoping there was nothing more to it. She went off to school OK this morning, unlike her brother who gave me a LOAD of verbalsSad Please tell me your DC are all struggling with the back to school! Lalsy, your DS is a trooper!

Hatty, your house sounds busy!
Addle glad to hear the new job is going OK and I now have pepper-grinder envy!
Herbs, sounds like you're going great guns - maybe you could incorporate some Robin Hood in your next lesson?!
Auriga, hope it clears up soon.

Blackduck · 07/01/2015 08:58

BTM hope DD is okay

MC- oops :) But if you weren't sworn to secrecy....

Good luck to all those with dd/ds doing mocks.

I had a banging headache yesterday - first day back-itis? I really have lost the love for this job....

Auriga hope you are feeling better.

Hatty sounds like a busy one!

MI no you most assuredly are NOT rubbish.

Happy Wednesday all.

Monty, a cousin of mine once rang me up and said "I hope you didn't tell any of the family in India I'm getting divorced?" I actually had to lie outright and say no. If she'd told me it was a secret....

I am continuing to feel wobbly, it must be said. But again, have slung own words on page.

lalsy · 07/01/2015 10:00

Rudy Grin.

BTM, hope dd has a better day today. Hate have niggling worries about whether there is more to something. ds is a trooper but the emotional oxygen in our house is used up by his older sister, so maybe there is a drama king in there, waiting for his turn. He trotted through primary very happily, had excellent teachers, lovely, lovely friends. dd managed to fall through every gap in the system, watched teachers have breakdowns, got bullied. I do remember giving birth to them both and treating them pretty much the same.....

With exams, ds usually gets exhausted, underperforms a bit, and moves on fairly cheerfully (though yet to do any public exams so we'll see). dd is still beefing about her Tech GCSE grade, which was slightly lowered by her odd, badly executed coursework Storage Thing. Other people made camping chairs with integrated wine coolersEnvy.

I seem to be in musing mood...sorry.

In S and B news, a very scarlet new Bravissimo bra turned up for me. I opened it in front of dd who looked appalled. Reader, I am keeping it Grin

cremolafoam · 07/01/2015 10:16

Morning crepeys, I am struggling to keep up. I seem to inadvertently slipped into hibernation mode. All spectacularly quiet at work( finally) and at home ( lovely, long may it last)

Very different from the stress in this house , this time last year, so my heartfelt wishes go out to everyone experiencing the pressure cooker of exam mocks. It ain't pleasant, but it will , for good or bad, be over in the blink of an eye.i can promise that .Smile

Auriga , sorry the wretched cold is out staying its welcome. Get well soon.
QQ good luck for ds at next interview. Got my fingers crossed for him. How long will he have to wait to hear?
BTM sorry to hear of dds woes.
MI , how are things with your mum?
Monty I am known for my 'big gob' so can sympathise. If you didn't know it was a secret then all you can do is apologise. Not your fault tho IMHO
Rose, getting a live read through would be great. Fingers crossed it works out.Smile
Lalsy do tell about the rouge lingerie, you cheeky minxGrin

In S&b news I have purchased some new mineral makeup , which I'm very pleased with. I actually look alive for a change. I think since I changed my hair colour my previous foundation didn't work.
Sorry I haven't managed to read everything so apologies if I haven't mentioned you

Rudy Flowers. Waiting is horrible.

motherinferior · 07/01/2015 11:11

My new lacy pants have arrived. DD2 is going to look quite ill with horror.

lalsy · 07/01/2015 13:05

MI Grin. And Crem, delighted you finally have the chance to hibernate.

MollyAir · 07/01/2015 13:08

In our house, dh sorts the clean washing. His greatest faux pas evah is to assign my pants to dd. Oh, the shame. But I try to role model for huge and proud. Grin

I am really, really missing my pfb now he's gone back to uni. But I'm glad he's OK. I am surprised by the yearning I feel.

DD otoh is happier when ds is not around. She feels she then gets the attention she rightly deserves, which is all of it.

BTM, when you have one less at home it will be easier. But then you will yearn, perhaps. Hard as hell having two teens in the house at the same time.

Russell Square on Thurs 29 Jan - I can do this, although awkwardly I have a meeting in Battersea at noon. Given that Rose would prefer earlier to later, could we meet at 10am? Is that too early? Coffee to wake us up?

MollyAir · 07/01/2015 13:12

Also thinking of you and ds this week, QQ. Hopefully you won't need your "never mind, it's all for the best" face - I sometimes struggle to put that one on. So hard to balance hopes/fears/expectations.

lalsy · 07/01/2015 13:34

Molly, that is all so true about teens. It is so peaceful when dd is away, much though I love and miss her.

bigTillyMint · 07/01/2015 13:34

CremoEnvy I want to come and hibernate at your house. Till the GCSE's are over.

Molly, that's good to hear, though I think DS may pine for DD if/when she eventually goes! They get on OK mostly, it's just that it's 2 of them zapping my patience/sympathy, etc.
And DH gives DD and I each others washing all the time, despite her being way more petite than me!

Rudy, hope it's not too painful.

It is cold here at work today. Must remember to put warm stuff on tomorrow! Trying to focus on my work - still seem to be half-asleep.

herbaceous · 07/01/2015 13:34

Considering I am now yearning for DS, who is only at school six hours a day, I dread to think how I'm going to feel when he leaves for university. If there is still higher education by then, or we aren't all scrabbling for survival in a post climate-apocalypse.

Rosebag · 07/01/2015 13:43

Hatty pleased to hear DD's tests have gone reasonably well at the Docs.

Yes Tilly, mine are also horrible on return to school. I'm actually quite glad to see the back of them for a few hours in the day. Sad but true. Today, DD is expected to come home and revise for her Food Tech exam which is tomorrow and we've been trying to cram the info into her poor overcrowded head since before Xmas. I have to take DS to a rehearsal, and won't be home til after 6. I don't have a good feeling about it!

Rudy waiting for results is really awful. Flowers

Liking the sound of Lalsy and MI's new sexy undies Grin. Today I bought an extreme boring Freya Rio. The antithesis of sexy but one looks better clothed wearing it. Also bought this on the back of buying another top in the range a few weeks ago and loving it knit

I've been unimpressed with High Street ranges under Designer labels but think I'm going to get quite a few things in this range.

Molly I can't let DH sort the washing if I ever want to see my pants again Grin

Rosebag · 07/01/2015 13:46

Herbs don't worry. Teenagers were designed so that you're ok about them going away by the time you've lived through their adolescent crap….Grin

motherinferior · 07/01/2015 14:00

In other news I am experimenting with making my roast cauliflower/garlic/pea soup with frozen cauliflower. If it succeeds - and I see no reason why not, it's not as if texture is an issue here - I am v tempted to suggest renaming it a Soup of Unexpectedly Accommodating Fri(d)gidity....

lalsy · 07/01/2015 14:01

Well put Rose Grin.

BTM, I thought ds would pine and he, err, hasn't. I think he quite likes the peace and extra attention.

I like those tops Rose. And Freya Rio is red - that's enough to be raunchy, no?

motherinferior · 07/01/2015 14:16

It looks raunchy to me (wonders if Rose's Raunch Standard is, err, rather higher - or lower - than mine)...

I am trying to blag a pair of these slippers.

lalsy · 07/01/2015 14:20

You and me both, MI.

Those are gorgeous.

Rosebag · 07/01/2015 14:22

Oh…unless I read the label wrong. The one I bought is black…. Confused

Those slippers are cute MI

motherinferior · 07/01/2015 14:27

Can I ask a - gasp - parenting question?

DD1 has got v into youth theatre recently. DD2 is asking if she can try it too - and DD1 - with some reason - is being slightly worried about this and saying yes of course DD2 can try it but she wants it to stay her thing. I can see both points of view - DD2 sees it's fun, and wants to try it...

It's complicated by the fact that DD2 does music, of course, and DD1 v much doesn't, but on the other hand I do (partly from my own experience) not want to keep insisting that DD2 makes music her thing; I did masses of music at her age but when I got to 18 I chucked it, very happily, because it had very much been something I did with parental approval whereas what I really wanted to do was hang around in dodgy lefty meetings and drink and smoke dope, of course.

does any of this make sense?
