Good luck mi. Thinking of you x

NUFC69 · 17/01/2015 10:12

Good luck, MI, it will be difficult for you but we'll all be thinking about you.

BTM, I, too, have had to wash sheets this morning, but in my case DH spilt a cup of tea on them. I would lay odds that it was one of DS's friends who was sick - if he tells you, you might ban said friend from sleeping over again.

NUFC69 · 17/01/2015 10:35

Rose, that sounds grim - I would be tempted to just put all the heaters on and be damned.

Beachy, you will feel better, I should think, when you have made a definite decision.

beachyhead · 17/01/2015 11:30

Thanks and good luck MI.

Have just suffered a freezer avalanche - you know when you take the one crucial item out and the whole lot piles out like Jenga on ice Smile

Date was good, apparently. Medical student, with car, local...3/3 really.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/01/2015 12:06

Result re skating tickets - DD2's resourceful friend went there when it opened and wailed about it being her birthday and secured DD2 a ticket.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/01/2015 12:09

We need a new thread title. As pancake day is coming up:

Crepes, Pancakes and Galettes?

bigTillyMint · 17/01/2015 12:37

That's good MrsS. Both!

Beachy, fabSmile

DH said sheet is clean, mattress protector needs another wash. Brian will be by the bed for all future sleepovers!

hattymattie · 17/01/2015 13:04

MI - hope things go OK today.

Glad skating crisis averted Mrs S.

BTM - it's a long time since I've dealt with sicky sheets but I do remember throwing some outside and hosing them down before they went in the washing machine.

Rosebag · 17/01/2015 13:15

We have turned all the heaters on and to hell with the officious nobodies who think they run they run the place. The corridors and loos are freezing though. The class have gone to the pub. I am toasting my behind by a heater and dreaming of a duvet evening in front of the telly/Netflix when I get out of here.
beachy all my cupboards are like that....
Good thread name mrsS Glad the skating got sorted.

lalsy · 17/01/2015 14:39

MI, thinking of you this week and fingers crossed. I just made your butternut soup for lunch and it was gorgeous!

BTM "Brian will be by the bed for all future sleepovers!" - who is Brian and what has he done to deserve this?

Crem, blooming gorgeous shoes, bet you looked fab! And I think Gabor are cool make......

Herbs, hurrah on triumph.

Blackduck · 17/01/2015 14:58

Brian the bucket I am assuming"...

Here dp got up a foul mood - own fault as hasn't slept properly. I have hoovered and shopped and packed for my trip to London tomorrow.

bigTillyMint · 17/01/2015 15:25

Yes Brian the bucketGrin

DH and I have escaped for a drink in a hipster bar and Testament of YouthSmile

hattymattie · 17/01/2015 15:41

Desperate to see Testament of Youth. Please report back BTM.

Blackduck · 17/01/2015 16:55

MI hope it went as well as can be expected.....

My new boots turn up today and are too tight ... Bummer.... I hate returning things - such a faff.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/01/2015 17:53

Crepes, Galettes, Pancakes and Brian the Bucket... Grin

cremolafoam · 17/01/2015 18:22

Oh MI, I hope it wasn't to trying for you todayThanks

I am just in from work and had startling news from both sets of parents( dh and mine)
We are both ShockShock
Dh's dad is in hospital and has been since last Tuesday with diabetic probs and not even taking his meds. No- one thought to tell us til today.
I have just had a text from sis to say dad hit someone's car in NOVEMBER!! ( you may remember my anxiety that he wasn't properly insured or licensed after the heart attack and how worried I was that he might have an accident) well it had already bloody happened !!!! Guess what? Dsis read it IN THE PAPER ffs
I am speechless. And mortifiedBlush and furious. It was outside the synagogue so caught on all their security cameras.BlushBlushBlushBlush

hattymattie · 17/01/2015 18:28

God Crem how awful for you. My parents do this - they will hide stuff to protect us like we're still children when it would actually be better if we knew what was going on and were able to help.

QueenQueenie · 17/01/2015 18:33

Bloody hell Crem, you really do have anxiety from both ends as it were - dd setting out on her own and the aged parents Shock
Fab shoes by the way - something of Dorothy about them - which is always a good thing to be channeling in my book...

Hope all went as ok as possible today MI.

Yuk re tales of sick and buckets. Bleurgh.

In other news the lovely Auriga came for tea at mine this afternoon. My family behaved quite hospitably but ddog rather let the side down! Good to see you Auriga.

I am planning to spend the evening watching Netflix - Luther is the choice of the moment round here - and maybe having a sherry.

MontserratCaballe · 17/01/2015 18:47

Bloody hell, Crem, that is a shocker. Has anything happened re police etc? Is everyone ok? Is FIL now sorted re diabetes meds? You have so much on your plate right now. Take it easy.

QQ, I am enjoying a delicious sherry as i type. I love sherry. What is Luther? Mini series? Desperately out of touch here.

MI, hope today has been as good as possible in the circumstances and that you are not feeling too stressed and overwrought by it all. I trust you have wine in the go by now.

Rose, did you buy the boots? I have 2 pairs of Gabor shoes which I adore. They are Spanish aren't they? Lovely soft leather, but like camper. Hope your teaching went well and your hall warmed up.

I have been splashing out today, buying wool and opera tickets. Knitting is so therapeutic. I have booked tickets for 2 girlfriends and me for la traviata at ENO - only 22 quid each, so not too £££. Dh also kindly stumped up for Wagner tickets at cov garden which were rather more but it should be fab. Any other crepeys like opera? I know many of us love singing and music.

Knitting, opera, sherry. Living the dream here too.

QueenQueenie · 17/01/2015 19:02

Were we separated at birth Monty? I'm very keen indeed on both opera and sherry drinking .... and about to take up knitting again as I was given a fantastic Christmas present of doggie knitting patterns - which I was showing Auriga just this afternoon! We have tickets for the Royal Opera House production of Orfeo at the Roundhouse next Saturday which is a collaboration with a circus company - will be interesting but not sure if in a good or a bad way.

Luther is a crime / police thing made after the Wire starring the lovely Idris Elba. It's good if rather violent.

cremolafoam · 17/01/2015 19:06

Yes Monty, police involved and the piece in the paper was full of courtroom drama.Sad He clipped a car and drove home. So left the scene of a crime, and charged with driving without care and attention. The judge has asked him to pay all out of pocket monies to 'the victim' ( all written in sensationalised local press diatribe)

Honestly I'm more pissed off about the secrecy. Why not just tell us as now I'm more inclined to hide hide car keys in my handbag on my next visit. And say nothing.
Ha secrets! We're all about the secrets, our family.Angry

In other news dd has asked me to come over to attend her hospital appointment with her with the specialist mental health team. I am SO pleased she has asked. Had a wee tear or two at lunchtime.
I am wearing my red shoes ( with teal tights NU) and concentrating on positives. And possibly sherry.Wine

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/01/2015 19:08

Bloody hell Crem! Shock

Have told DD1 not to open her mouth if she is just going to moan about something and she has been sulkily silent for the past hour or so. Grin

bigTillyMint · 17/01/2015 19:12

Yes, Yes to Brian the BucketGrin

Hatty Testament of Youth is a weeeeepy. Take your tissues! Really enjoyed it and even DH said it was moving. In between checking the footy scoresAngry I felt like going for a stiff gin in a hipster pub after, but I am doing dry January. And I knew the DC would be wanting their dinner...

Cremo, you poor thing. Has your DF stopped driving now, or will he? And not taking diabetes medsShock

Monty, you are a knitter too? I agree, it is very therapeutic, particularly good when I am stressed! I can't stand opera or sherry thoughGrin

lalsy · 17/01/2015 19:18

Bloody hell Crem! What are they like? Shock. But so pleased about dd.

Sherry-drinking knitter here too - though having dry January.

And we like Luther too (well dh and ds love it - I do find myself going eurghhh quite a lot and pointing out to ds that people don't really behave like that, to his great irritation).

hattymattie · 17/01/2015 19:23

I like opera too but DH hates itSad I am surrounded by heathens and have nobody to go with. When I lived in London I used to go to the ENO all the time although I'm more Verdi than Wagner.

I love your shoes too Crem but you get extra points for walking in themSmile.
