Pleather leggings?

cardamomginger · 21/12/2014 11:14

Inspired by the leather leggings thread started by sun, yet gulping at the prices of real leather leggings, can anyone recommend pleather leggings? I'm 5 ft 7, a size 8, and pear shaped. In jeans I am a 25-27, depending on cut and brand.

I occasionally follow Bum40 Lady and her trials and tribulations with pleatehr leggings make them sound to be one of the hardest garments to get right in terms of fit, durability (hers seem to split at the seam) and not going baggy. Is this right?

Also, I am 43. I am deluding myself... Is this going to be my version of a red convertible sports car....?

I think the burgundy are nicer! Haven't seen any though

i3.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article1725404.ece/alternates/s615b/Coleen%20Nolan%20.jpg I fear this for evening so just can't.

dexter73 · 24/12/2014 15:11

I think the burgundy look better than the black.

Floisme · 24/12/2014 15:18

I will look like Coleen, I just know it. But hey, she seems to be having a good time so why not!

Sunmakesmesmile · 24/12/2014 15:27

Wow Coleen looks super happy in hers! I favour a more dressed down look, loving mine with ankle boots and denim shirt. Have worn in the evening but even then I've kept the look quite low key.

noddyholder · 24/12/2014 15:28

Yes she does its just not me to wear them at night/dressy nothing to do with shape or size more not my look really

ElizabethHoover · 24/12/2014 15:41

its only as her legs skeletor, Nod

noddyholder · 24/12/2014 16:01

Yes my legs are a bit like that Shit! lol

cardamomginger · 24/12/2014 17:52

Just resurrecting this thread to give a big thank you to Belinda for recommending those H&M £14.99 leggings. Just got some and they are fantastic. Going back to order the burgundy ones now.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 01/01/2015 17:37

Talisin - that's great! I wore mine last night - one of my best buys Smile.

frankietwospots · 01/01/2015 17:38

oh bollocks, I already have two pairs but now feel the need to look at the H&M ones. This bloody forum costs me a fortune!

FrugalFashionista · 01/01/2015 17:42

Welcome to the fan club Wink

cardamomginger · 05/01/2015 14:13

Frugal, Belinda - just got the £15 ones from H&M. They are perfect Grin. Thank you!

Woop woop - so pleased!

I'm actually thinking of buying another pair, and cutting them up and making leather leggings, using them as a pattern. I think it's got all the hallmarks of disaster, given my lack of seamstress skills. However, I think it might be worth a try. I'm not drunk, in case anyone is wondering.

cardamomginger · 05/01/2015 21:26

I liked the texture of the more expensive ones a bit more, but these just looked so good on!

Interesting project Belinda... Do post pics and let us know how you get on! If it works, you could find several of us eager to commission you to make some!

Waiting for mine to arrive.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 05/01/2015 21:51

Interesting or ridiculous? Not sure. I'm my hunt for stretch leather, though, I did see that for £125, I could get some made and sent from Australia. I'm thinking about that, as the leather alone would cost at least £50. I could always send her my H&M ones and see if she could tell me what size to get and to match the narrowness of the calves (where things go wrong in the other pleather and leather leggings I've tried). pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=171166154774

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 05/01/2015 21:53

Romcom, I'm sure they will. I should point out that my legs are far better than my arms or midriff. So, you know, leggings are good for me, but halter necks, for eg, are bad not good.

ZammoMcGuire · 05/01/2015 21:55

blinner did you say where your top was from ever?

GrandTheftQuarto · 05/01/2015 22:00

Aren't they a bit… thrushy? Confused

frankietwospots · 05/01/2015 22:06

Can anyone tell me if the H&M ones are shiny or are they more of a matte finish?

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 05/01/2015 23:27

Zammo - it's an old Zara top.

Grand - not had that problem, no.

Frankie - the H&M trousers are shiny (like rubber trews. Or as I imagine them to be) and the leggings are more matte. I obv have both.

Floisme · 06/01/2015 18:03

Well I tried some.
From knee to ankle - not bad at all.
From the knee up - OMG. In fact, that deserves writing out in full:
Oh
My
God.
I'm never listening to you lot again Grin

WhereIsMyFurryHat · 06/01/2015 18:10

I tried the H&M ones and looked fucking horrendous. Sausages for legs.

My legs are not my slimmest part, leather trousers are for slim legged people. I will never be in this category weeps. I looked like Coleen.
