Pleather leggings?

Inspired by the leather leggings thread started by sun, yet gulping at the prices of real leather leggings, can anyone recommend pleather leggings? I'm 5 ft 7, a size 8, and pear shaped. In jeans I am a 25-27, depending on cut and brand.

I occasionally follow Bum40 Lady and her trials and tribulations with pleatehr leggings make them sound to be one of the hardest garments to get right in terms of fit, durability (hers seem to split at the seam) and not going baggy. Is this right?

Also, I am 43. I am deluding myself... Is this going to be my version of a red convertible sports car....?

Think giant, evil mutant slugs and you'll get the idea.

Tried the £24.99 h and m ones on today. Very short in the body, the legs were ok. I went up a size and that made no difference, the ended way below my navel. fabric was nice though. I've ordered the 14.99 version online as sold out in store- the girl on the changing rooms had them and and they seemed a big higher waisted. Mind she was age 20 Max and about a size 8, whereas I am 44 and a size 12 !!! Fingers crossed.

Taking them back. They are too noisy when I walk. A combination of a squeak and a rustle. Sad. Arse.

I tried the 14.99 ones on and they were fine from the front and on the waist, but mega wrinkly when I saw my rear view. Oh well.

Cardamom ha ha that's really made me laugh- noisy trousers!!! I will let you know when I get mine!!

GrandTheftQuarto · 07/01/2015 22:22

Does anyone sell men's ones? I can only wear women's trousers if they're stretchy and forgiving, as I have essentially no hips/arse and always end up with too much bum-material Sad

ha ha ha...this thread is seriously funny. I especially like the OMG post!!! and the 'sausages for legs'
I love the look of them on very slim people but not sure at my age er 47 if its a bit too much. Anway, are they not bloody hot? I had a pair of PU ones many years ago and they were so sweaty!!!! Im afraid it would be leather or nothing for me.

cardamomginger · 08/01/2015 10:32

Returned. Sales assistant sniggered when I said they were too noisy.

Oh dear re the rustling trousers Grin. I think leather leggings woukd be better, to be honest. However, I then have to spend time to find the right fit, live in fear of them stretching out of shape (would really upset poor petal me) and wonder how to wash them. My inner commitment phobe is shrinking from spending £££ on anything less than a Sartorial Sure Thing.

Greengardenpixie · 08/01/2015 14:27

Very true Belinda...washing would be a nightmare and i dont do dry clean. I cant afford them anyway...and think that this fashion will truly die out after this year. I remember seeing my boss in a pair. Everyone commented. She is superskinny but looked dreadful in them.

I just bought some high waisted ones from River Island. £22 and I love them!

frankietwospots · 08/01/2015 22:51
