QQ you kept that quiet! Happy Birthday
Good luck tomorrow ;)

Blackduck · 12/12/2014 07:18

Well I mean good luck today don't i? Hmm

cremolafoam · 12/12/2014 07:21

Monty, I hope you had a decent night's sleep.
Another long day here. Am about to defrost the car and get going.
Dd has two exams today, but you have to wonder how much they've learned in term one.Confused
My eye injury looks pink and angry.
Bloody tree!

Good luck with the uni hunting today, QQ.

And, sorry, hello to Drywhite.

Crem, our snow has gone, such as it was. I hope your eye doesn't play you up too much.

DH is going out on his bike - fool - and I need to do a bit of tidying/cleaning before going out Christmas shopping. So far all I have got DH is CTC membership and two CDs. I have no ideas for anything else.

motherinferior · 12/12/2014 08:13

Good luck today, QQ! And hope the various ailments recover. I must finish a couple of small features and go out for a Christmas lunch for the baby mag on which I am ahem 'health editor'. This effectively means a pleasant and boozy Turkish meal with friends. It's tough, this networking gig, innitGrinGrin

Must also email head of music at the Inferiorettes' school for his stonking - and slightly unexpected - speech about the importance of the creative and performing arts and how they shouldn't be pushed off the curriculum. He was ostensibly aiming solely at the government but was also very clearly talking about the current furore about GCSE options in the school and I suspect may have earned himself some Hard Stares.

herbaceous · 12/12/2014 08:40

Shortly off on a school trip with my learners to the Museum of Childhood. This is mainly a jolly, with a brief talk on child development thrown in.

Then this evening to DP's boss's christmas party at her house in Haigate Village, dotchaknow. Lots of banker types will be in evidence. I am going to be wearing my French Connection dress from the charity shop. Take that, capitalism.

DS is getting very maudlin of late. He keeps asking when I'm going to die, and whether that will mean he's then all alone, and what will he do. Tricky.

Rosebag · 12/12/2014 08:43

Couldn't agree more about performing arts MI. That bloke knows what he's talking about, so he does.
Best of luck today QQ. Best leave DS to it and go round the shops. Maybe check out the doubletree Hilton for our next MU? Grin
monty are you a little more rested? My comfort food is a dippy egg and soldiers Grin and maybe marzipan for dessert...
drywhite I wonder if being desperate most of the time makes us so funny? Are you sufficiently crepey to join us? Welcome.
auriga you're spot on....this is a stress cold! I am in bed having had to cancel a study day I was due to go to in Wimbledon ( waves dolefully to sarf londoners). I feel shite. I've no patience for illness. I blame ConS. Apart from stressing me out with a kind of passive aggressive approach to our play writing challenges he had a cold when we last met.
I would love to cook for you all. What fun that would be. A crepey dinner party but you'd need to get those passports sorted if you want to venture to the frozen norf London wilderness.
I am now going to take pills.

Rosebag · 12/12/2014 08:45

Ahhh the museum of childhood. Happy memories herbs but mine are too old now. Oh and I aspire to live in Highgate....

We also spent many wet Sundays at the Museum of Childhood!

Sorry you are feeling shite, Rose. And all of you with other ailments.

QQ, hope you and DS have a great day!

Here it is Christmas Jumper Day and I am sporting a cheeky little elf number! And then our "show" this afternoon. One of my little darlings told me, over Christmas lunch yesterday, that he felt different - because it is nearly Christmas and it is so exciting (backdrop and stage up, etc) Awww

Blackduck · 12/12/2014 09:09

Oh Rose did I spot an invite to dinner in that post? You won't be let off you know :)

I am wfh so its dp and I at opposite sides of the dining room table tip tapping away - ds was most disgruntled at having to go to school when weren't going out to work.......

I am shattered and the next 8 days to Christmas Eve are going to be very long - particularly as we won't get to go early on 24th either (meanies.......)

Hope all the various ailments are okay.

Oh and Rudy sudden thought - your secret santa isn't going to be so secret is it!!! Many thanks for organising.

bigTillyMint · 12/12/2014 09:21

Fingers doubly crossed for your two, Rudy!

NUFC69 · 12/12/2014 11:00

Ooh, so excited, my SS has just arrived.

Good luck to the DC, Rudy.

motherinferior · 12/12/2014 11:12

And so have those gloves! Grin They are very narrow indeed so just about fit my minuscule paws...NU, thank you so much; Hattie, I feel rather guilty about depriving impoverished students but honestly they would only fit someone with size 2.5 feet...

motherinferior · 12/12/2014 11:13

Glove-clad fingers crossed for the Rudeboyandgirl.

beachyhead · 12/12/2014 11:29

Twas I that had the finger! Bit better, still not bending as much as the other one, but I can spray my deodorant with it now, so it's serving some purpose. Thanks to all for asking.

Still not feeling fully organised at all. I so remember back in late August thinking 'When they go back, I can get all this sorted' and I still don't seem to have got around to half the things I was supposed to.

Happy birthday to you for yesterday QQ and good luck for today. Is it one of those extended interviews? I have two friends who dropped their daughters at Oxford on Wednesday and don't get them back until Saturday! When I told dd1 she said 'What on earth would I have to say for THAT LONG?'.

We've just heard that MIL is not at all well - literally just days after burying fil, she had a chest X ray and it's not looking good Sad. Poor dh - he seems to have a lot on his plate at the moment, quite a lot of which I can't really alleviate. It's very tough.

Still on a happier note, we are having dad up for lunch tomorrow and all walking up the lane to the garden centre, then dragging a tree back on the trolley. All the dc make us go there as the man lets them go through the Xmas tree wrapping machine and they waddle back like trussed up penguins!

bigTillyMint · 12/12/2014 11:44

Oh Beachy, that's very sad about your MIL.
But tomorrow sounds like good fun!

MI, I think my DD must win the prize for the tiniest hands - although she takes 4.5/5 shoes, her hands are really small. No wonder she found stretching to reach notes on the piano so difficult!

wilbur · 12/12/2014 11:59

Sorry about your MIL's news, Beachy, that's v tough for your dh. But I am Envy of your kids getting to go through the Xmas tree wrapper - that's genius! There were some parents at ds2's nativity this morning who could have done with it for their toddlers...

Hope today is going well for ds, QQ - what an exciting/panicky thing to be doing - and hope the weather is not too bad up there. I was woken by the storm at 5am Angry but I quite like getting up to see the trees being blown around and the rain means I don't have to water the new turf again today, result.

And hello, drywhite - stick around and chat. We even talk about style and beauty sometimes, honestly.

NUFC69 · 12/12/2014 12:33

Glad to hear that the gloves fit, MI. It's so strange as they are marked M - no wonder that they didn't fit me with my size 7 and a half feet.

So sorry to hear about your MiL, Wilbur. I love the idea of DC going through the tree wrapping thingy.

NUFC69 · 12/12/2014 12:35

Sorry, I meant Beachy. Angry My short term memory isn't good, and when I am MNetting on the phone I can't check. Big senior moment there.

hattymattie · 12/12/2014 13:44

NU - I frequently double post when I'm using the app as I can't see who said what.

Beachy Sad for the MIL but good news for the finger.

I am trying to motivate myself to go to the Post Office.

lalsy · 12/12/2014 14:17

Beachy, my dc would probably sell me into [editorial?] slavery to get to go through a tree wrapping machine. Your poor dh Sad.

ds has just texted to say his mini dramatic event went well. He is no thesp, but has pulled out the organisational stops and got people to show up and work, so am having a proud mum moment.

Rose, hope you feel better.

Blackduck · 12/12/2014 14:20

i want to go through the christmas tree wrapping machine

Sorry about mil Beachy...

QQ hope it's going well. Friend of mines nephew is doing the three day Oxford interview too (he's outrageously clever.....)
