Just came back to moan that I seem to be permanently shivery at the moment - I think the house walls are actually damp with all the rain, yet it is not cold enough for the heating to kick in effectively. I need some proper cold dry weather not this miserable dampness we seem to have all the time.

hattymattie · 20/12/2014 18:54

Crem - I think the professional make up girls got her last week. Darcy's eye-shadow also bad this week.

beachyhead · 20/12/2014 19:01

Thanks for all the recommendations. Will search out Ruby Woo when I go to town on Monday... I too am working up to the wire, mainly as I've run out of holiday days!

I'm watching Strictly in the Chinese takeaway, waiting for my order!

cremolafoam · 20/12/2014 19:47

Wow, Caroline Flack, just wow.

lalsy · 20/12/2014 21:15

Lovely crepesters, sneak preview of the collected recipes now available online if anyone would like some culinary adventures over the hols - PM me if you would like a link. Also PM me with more recipes and I can add them for version 2........ I have taken out nicknames so we can leave them lying around our kitchens without explanation Grin. I rather randomly scoured a few threads to kick things off - can easily add, remove or change anything.

QueenQueenie · 20/12/2014 21:27

Yes please lalsy!

And look at this amazing Moomin gingerbread house... brilliant!

CointreauVersial · 21/12/2014 00:05

Evening all.

I'm not sure I've got time for Christmas this year. My To Do list seems to be getting longer by the day. Tomorrow is earmarked for gloss painting the beautiful (but semi-functioning) bathroom, making mince pies and covering the dining room chairs with some lovely fabric which has been sitting around for weeks waiting for me to get to it. All things which should have been done today.

PILs descend on Tuesday - as does plumber, in a last-ditch attempt to get the shower working. After spending the day on the phone on Friday I managed to track down a spare shower processor. It's do or die. I received the plumber's bill through the post this morning; I will write him a cheque and will whip it out of my pocket when (and only when) I see water flowing.

As an aside, may I direct all marzipan fans to Lidl? They do marvellous chocolate covered marzipan with fruity stuff inside, and I've been steadily working my way through a box while doing the wrapping. Mmmmm.

I love a bit of Polar Express, Herbs. Possibly my fave Christmas film. Just lovely.

hattymattie · 21/12/2014 08:13

Please could I have the link for the recipes Lalsy and than you for doing this.

CV really hope your shower gets working. If there's one thing I appreciate, it's the pleasure of a long hot shower.

Blackduck · 21/12/2014 10:56

Lovely meal last night and ds now has a menu with a message from the lovely Michel Roux (jr) - and had his signature cheese soufflé - yummy...
Now trekking to kent to see the other half of the family and up at 5.00ish to get back home for work tomorrow (oh joy)

motherinferior · 21/12/2014 11:13

Beachy, if not too late, Ladybug is also nice - gather RW can be quite drying. Agree Mac good for swanky presents - am actually v impressed with the longevity of the No7 Stay Perfect ones and may treat self to Pillarbox (Love Red pulls a little pink on me) after today's shopping tripConfusedShock

MontserratCaballe · 21/12/2014 11:21

I would love the recipes please, Lalsy. I will post some of my own when I get a moment. I have conducted a ladyjog, had a bath and now about to go for a trip into either town or Wimbledon to get a few more presents (hurray) with the kids in tow (not hurrah). Will I ever learn?

BD my darling, try to get some rest - your work sounds punishing at the moment and you need to take care of yourself Flowers

cremolafoam · 21/12/2014 11:33

Ooh Lalsy, you are completely brilliant! Yes please to the linkySmile

CV , dear God can no one sort your shower!! There must be water before Christmas.! Best if luck with the list. I have one if those too, all of which were supposed to be complete before dd arrives this afternoon. Dh has had 2 days to clear his shit stuff from her room, and is still in bed. The inners of 2 record players are all over the desk ATM .Angry

BD - how did the Michel Roux autograph come about? I must have missed that...
And gosh you really need a break my lovely. And breathe...

lalsy · 21/12/2014 11:57

CV, how ridiculous.

Crem, is it Return of the Student today? Have a lovely time. Mine is being a right pain I have to say.

BD, urgh, 5 am is a bit much....

cremolafoam · 21/12/2014 12:04

Yes Lalsy, T minus 3 hours till dd is home. The cat already seems to know and is perched on her pillow looking hopefulGrin

lalsy · 21/12/2014 12:09
Grin
herbaceous · 21/12/2014 12:20

Me too, please lalsy, for the recipes.

Another fun meal shortly. NGXBFWNLINY and his fella, plus three more good friends, are all coming up our way for a pub lunch. Then hopefully back to ours for ABBA dances on the Wii.

I only have one more present to get, and it's one of DP's. I was going to get him the second Alan Johnson biog, but it's still in hardback. Hardback books are rubbish for reading in bed.

bigTillyMint · 21/12/2014 12:23

Lalsy I would like the recipes too pleaseXmas Smile
BD, meal sounds greatXmas Smile
Cremo, countdown!Xmas Smile
CV, I have everything crossed for you...

Feeling a bit jaded after friends party last night, but not hungoverXmas Shock

DH managed to drop the gingerbread house yesterdayXmas Angry so DD and I have cobbled it back together ish... think this is the last year I am making one!
And I have wrapped a load of presents. But still a load to go.
Off to out-laws when DS and DH get back from the match.

hattymattie · 21/12/2014 13:03

Oh dear, DD2 is unwell and has gone to bed. This is really rare - I hope it's not the shape of things to come.

Our student (DD1) has settled down to family life again and is much nicer than over the first few days.

cremolafoam · 21/12/2014 13:37

Poor Hatty- glad to hear your student has settled, but sorry about the pestilence at your house.Sad
Dd is boarding the plane....

lalsy · 21/12/2014 14:04

My student is having existential doubt instead of sorting her washing out. Grin

cremolafoam · 21/12/2014 14:20

I have the washing machine 'at the ready'Confused

motherinferior · 21/12/2014 15:38

I have purchased stocking stuff (subject of yet another row with DP, who appears to believe stockings are a strange thing I insist on - "we never had them" - presumably his English mother couldn't be arsed) in Bromley and DD2 has got her presents too (including v nice H&M top for DD1 which I paid for. Long grey jumper with sequinned stars on it). There is a new chain called Hema which sells rather nice underwear for girls up to 14.

motherinferior · 21/12/2014 15:47

By 'rather nice' I mean boxer-style pants and strappy vests in nice prints. Charming and also age-appropriate. Also got new lipstick but now not sure about it.Confused

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/12/2014 16:11

Hema is a Dutch chain and is fab!
