DD2 was supposed to be going on a sleepover this morning, but couldn't be arsed to get up, so texted her friend that "her parents wouldn't let her go." Angry She is now going...

AngryAngryAngry

We are all distinctly drooping. Well, I don't know about DP - maybe he's full of chi or whatever it is - but we are creeping rather glumly around the house. My back is killing me.

motherinferior · 20/12/2014 12:37

Mr Inferior does Passive Aggressive Breadmaking (it takes two (2, ii) minutes to load our breadmaker but it can be turned into a performance).

NUFC69 · 20/12/2014 12:38

MI, I know you're right re breast scan. I have already had a benign lump removed when I was in my late 20s (and pregnant with DS). My DM died of breast cancer in her early 50s. I know that when the scan machine comes to our small town some friends/acquaintances will always be picked up.

My mince pies are still in their constituent parts, ie I haven't even made the pastry yet. I might get round to it later - or not.

Enjoy your trip to Sussex, Rose.

I hope all the presents get wrapped - I still have a few to do as we managed to get things for the DC and partners while we were away.

motherinferior · 20/12/2014 12:40

Oh sweetie no wonder you're worried, with your mother's history. V tough.

cremolafoam · 20/12/2014 14:31

I have managed to book dds flight back to Scotland after Xmas. Well I thought so until I looked at the print out , and yayAngry I had booked a flight in the wrong direction.BlushBlushBlush
Just spent a fortune changing it so dd can get back for Hogmanay.
I am furious with myself for bring so idiotic. I may do some passive aggressive tidying when I get home as dh will no doubt be supine beside the fire having achieved absolutely nothing today. GrrrrrredAngryAngry

bigTillyMint · 20/12/2014 14:31

I haven't wrapped any presents yet. Or done the gingerbread house.

MrsSGrin DD is asleep on the sofa - not unusual for a Saturday after coaching. She hasn't partied in a few weeks!

MollyAir · 20/12/2014 14:45

MrsS, I do hate to be competitive Wink but due to raging insomnia I was in Tesco at 5 (five, V) this morning. It was interesting. I do not want to work there, thanks, although I admire all those who do.

bigTillyMint · 20/12/2014 14:52

Oh shit, Cremo! That's the kind of thing I live in fear of doing.

DS is trying to force DH to eat a cough sweet because he just snarfed a packet of cheese and onion crisps and DS has to stand next to him at the match for an hour and a halfGrin DD is trying to rouse herself so we can go out for a café treat.

bigTillyMint · 20/12/2014 14:58

Molly, online shopping/delivery is your friendWink

MollyAir · 20/12/2014 15:08

Not a good idea when half-mad with lack of sleep, BTM. I already do insane ebay purchasing in the small hours; I must not go near things with real prices. Anyway, it was quite therapeutic to get dressed and go out!

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/12/2014 16:15

Molly - Grin. Unfortunately I don't think you can buy WineWineWine before 6.00 am?

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 20/12/2014 16:19

DH has "sorted out the recycling" - ie left it all over the kitchen floor. He also forgot to collect DD2's coat from the cleaners at vast expense. I wanted to wash it (it said wash or dry clean, he said no, it needed to be dry cleaned).

Can I recommend M & S children's department for your teenage DDs and the tiny toed of you, for boots? I got DD2 some nice leather biker type boots in there for £40. (I have probably told you all this before several times, I am so tired, I don't know what I have and haven't said/done.)

hattymattie · 20/12/2014 16:56

Mrs S - there's a thread about cats and headbutting in Chat which may interest you.

Molly -'Tesco at 5 am sounds like something from a horror film.

Crem - I'm another who lives in fear of doing that sort of thing.

NU - the essential is that you get regular scans.

We have had the traditional end of term family meal at the Chinese. It's so nice to all get together like this. We seem to be better at chatting as a family in restaurants for some reason.

bigTillyMint · 20/12/2014 17:16

Have been out for a French tarte au chocolat and a chat with DD who is now doing the gingerbread houseSmile

I really should have a nap before we go out or I doubt I will last the evening.

In S&B news, my Gap sale purchases - trousers (despite having said I would never buy him any more clothes) for DH fit and have been approved by DS who is the king of swagWink Praise the Lord - his old ones look awful!

bigTillyMint · 20/12/2014 17:19

Hatty, we also tend to have a nice chat when we go out to eat. Definitely less fraught than it can get at the dinner table at home!

motherinferior · 20/12/2014 17:26

I still feel crappy. Hate this. Running nose and a cough brewing up...

beachyhead · 20/12/2014 17:50

MI, I wanted to pick your brains re: red lipstick....DNiece (early 20's) has asked for a red lipstick. She is quite girly, so dd1 can't help (as she's all plum and black!). About £15? Dd1 did suggest a MAC but I don't know where to start as to which are the classic colours. Brown eyes and brown hair, but not very olive skin. Any ideas?

Came home to find dh riding around the garden on his trials bike as he was locked out! He had been at the rugby lunch all day, so needless to say, this probably seems liked quite a logical thing to do at the time WineWine

herbaceous · 20/12/2014 18:05

Beachy - Sally (sp?) Hughes in last week's guardian was talking about red lipsticks, and about one in particular that suits just about everyone. Might be worth tracking down...

I'm off out this evening to a gastropub in Islington - very near QQ! - to meet up with my now-gay-ex-boyfriend-who-now-lives-in-New-York, along with a host of other gaiety boys. Usually lots of larks.

cremolafoam · 20/12/2014 18:15

Beachy can I recommend Ruby Woo which is a great red for enlivening pale skin and dark eyes.
I wish I could wear it but even with my toned down hair I am still in need of something bluer like True Red.

QueenQueenie · 20/12/2014 18:18

Ooooh Herbs, if I wasn't now ensconced in East Angular I would want to gatecrash! Is it the D.... A...., literally round the corner? Or maybe the A..., whose vegetable plot backs onto our garden? Sounds like good fun wherever it is.

Dh is snoring loudly in an armchair. Teenagers upstairs doing their own thing. I'm not feeling massively full of the Christmas spirit I must say, having spent the afternoon bickering with dh about the unilateral decisions he's made about how long we are here for / when he's working / not working etc etc. Bloody husbands. He's not even doing passive aggressive cleaning or tidying ffs.

May have a large sherry and watch something crap to cheer myself up.

herbaceous · 20/12/2014 18:29

It is indeed the DA! We have a table booked, apparently. I'm hoping it's in the only mildly eye-wateringly expensive pub bit, rather than the pant-soilingy pricey upstairs. I think it may have to go on the credit card, wherever we go.

Have just had a restful afternoon watching the Polar Express, for the first time. All very heartwarming.

cremolafoam · 20/12/2014 18:31

Aw QQ sorry you're not having a ball. - sherry may well be the answer.WineWine gosh I wishi was there with you, to drag you to the local and behave in a non - East Anglian fashion, instead of standing here with a painted on smile and a Gritted Teeth Happy Christmas to all my lovely valued customers. Panic Saturday was more like cold steely simmering vengeance Saturday here.Sad

Beachy Ruby Woo looks like this

hattymattie · 20/12/2014 18:43

Am slumped in front of Strictly wondering why Claudia won't put on some red lipstick. She looked so brilliant last week with a bit lippy. I think she was obviously a huge Chrissie Hynde fan when young and has never got over it.

cremolafoam · 20/12/2014 18:45

I know Hatty!
She looked miles better last week with the slightly less terrifying slap-job she usually has. Sometimes she looks as if her 5 year old coloured her in with crayon.
Blue dress also excellentGrin
