Thanks for the foubdation suggestions everyone, I'll check them out today. Last night I resorted to searching on google for recommendations for pale pink toned foundations. I ended up ordering a few samples from eBay so will report back!

I love my pink Coach bag and used it a lot last year. I've used it twice so far this year (since February) and will be using it most of the time now the weather is improving. I tend to treat it as a neutral and don't worry too much about what it goes with. The only things I tend not to wear it with are red tops as it feels a bit 'parrot'.

Fender1 · 21/03/2015 09:08

I noticed quite a lot of Chinese blue walking through John Lewis this week which is good as that's one of my ** colours (Jewel winter).

I'm off to a kettlewell style day my colour consultant has organised later today. Have any of you ordered anything of note from their spring summer collection?
I'm a bit like you Tiny, I'm going for a couple of ice colours at least that's the plan...

As for trousers I wear a fair few chino / Breton top / jacket combos this time of year. Nice chinos in boden of all places.

AsBrightAsAJewel · 21/03/2015 10:20

That sounds exciting Fender1 - I'm a jewel winter too! Do report back on your kettlewell day please. I have a few things I'm interested in from their spring collection THIS OUTFIT THIS IN AZURE plus I liked the purple/pink version of THIS OUTFIT but I can't see the bright pink short wrap cardi anywhere]]

I'm losing the will to live with clothes and shopping at the moment. I either can't find the right colour, or I find the correct colour and the shape is wrong. I find a colour and shape that I like but the print is too big and swamps me. The odd thing I find that matches colour and gamine style accentuates the area that I hate (rolls and bulges from under-bust to top of hips) so I feel soooo fat! Even when I put on what should be a perfect outfit I catch sight of myself in a reflective surface and cringe!

Hi TinyLittleOne! It did take a while to analyse me. I was fairly certain that I was winter (despite hazel eyes) because although the dark green/purply autumn colours look ok, mustardy, creamy orangey colours are awful. I was hoping to find some lighter alternatives to black and navy but I think burnished are a bit stuck with needing a lot of pigment!
Fender- please report back from Kettlewell. I'd love to hear about quality and length of tops. I'm worried the cut will be too short. Like a few people on here I'd like to use them for the ice colours.
AsBrightAsAJewel, I'm not having the easy shopping I hoped for either. Do you think it's just you focusing on "problem areas" though? Do you have an honest friend for an opinion?

QueenCardigan · 21/03/2015 12:43

I wish the kettlewell tops didn't contain elastane as I can't bear the stuff. It always seem to clings to me and I need things that skim rather than cling.

TinyLittleOne · 21/03/2015 15:35

I have hazel eyes too MissLemons and my hair, although very dark brown, has a goldeness, (is that a 'real' word?), to it. However I definitly look beter in white, rather than cream. I also do not suit orange or the sludge colours of the Autumn palette. I have found that the deep, dark colours look much better against my face, pale colours do not work for me, although I sometimes rebel. In the little HOC book, it suggests that we get a monochrome look using stone with navy or pine green and charcoal and burgandy. I haven't tried this out yet, but really fancy stone and navy, with the navy being nearest to my face.

Fenders - let us all know how today went. Did you see this cardigan IRL? If yes, what did you think of it. I am am considering it in Emerald.

TinyLittleOne · 21/03/2015 15:41

AsBrightAs - Snap we like the same cardi. I think the model, (in purple), is wearing the sorbet cardigan, which is listed as a summer colour.

AsBrightAsAJewel · 21/03/2015 15:45

Ahh - that's why I couldn't find it TinyLittleOne I have the winter filter on.

Thinking of splurging on this cocktail dress. It's not a brand I know but I Googled the designer and she has a lot of cobalt blue and bright pink in her range (some of the stuff is very skimpy!).

mimiasovitch · 21/03/2015 20:13

I really like that cardigan. I think it'll probably work under the romantic category too. I have the drape neck sweater, which I love, although the sleeves get baggy on the cuffs with wear. I also have the cowl neck top, which is lovely. A really thick material, but I will have to shorten the sleeves. I really dislike long sleeves unless they're on knitwear. I have no idea why.

Fender1 · 21/03/2015 22:52

Yes I did see and try the short cascade cardi. T'was lovely , although fabric is a wee bit thin but that might work with it being for summer? Emerald is lovely, I've ordered the lace edge cardigan in it.

Also ordered a sleeveless V in ice aqua and another half sleeve scoop neck in ice hyacinth. They are fairly expensive but quality feels excellent and I know they'll work as staples year after year.

That dress is smashing Sorrell, I'm loving all the blue shades around at the mo. I'm after a jumpsuit if they're still in vogue?!?

misslemonsfilingcabinet · 22/03/2015 08:25

Gorgeous dress, Sorrel! Thanks for the feedback Fender, I might splash out on a couple of ice staples then (and remember not to put them in the mixed wash!!).

mimiasovitch · 22/03/2015 17:54

Fender - can I just say how much I enjoyed your use of 'smashing'. I need to use it more!

Fender1 · 22/03/2015 21:09

It's funny you should say that Misslemons as I was considering whether I could make my own ice colours by adding the appropriate coloured item to a white wash...

winterwalks · 24/03/2015 21:05

Help gratefully received.
I need a summer handbag.
I'm natural injenue
Winter jewel colouring
Preferably not leather
Up to £75
Bit more if it is really lovely

SorrelForbes · 26/03/2015 10:21

What sort of size, style? Something in cobalt or bright pink maybe?

winterwalks · 26/03/2015 23:14

Hi Sorrel
Medium size
Big enough for kindle, purse etc

I wear mostly blues and greens, pinks and occasionally bright red.
But the bag probably wouldn't be able to match all those colours
Trying to have navy as my neutral in clothing as black is not good for me
I need a shoulder strap

RaisingSteam · 26/03/2015 23:21

winterwalks would a Cath Kidston handbag do - maybe one of the less "obvious" designs?

RaisingSteam · 26/03/2015 23:22

this sorta thing

winterwalks · 26/03/2015 23:44

Hi Raising Steam
That's a good idea
I never thought of cath kidston for handbags
I will have a good look at the range

RaisingSteam · 26/03/2015 23:49

I'm always sighing over them in John Lewis but apart from the spotty ones I think they're not gamine enough for me.

NeitherHereOrThere · 27/03/2015 08:44

Try White Stuff and Fat Face for nice non leather bags - their colours tend to be muted but you never know.

SorrelForbes · 27/03/2015 09:55

From Etsy:
this or this

winterwalks · 27/03/2015 19:01

Hi sorrel
I love the royal blue raindrop
Neither

The natural Injenue in me really likes fat face and White stuff clothes and bags but as you say it's really hard to get winter jewel colours but I will keep an eye out

SorrelForbes · 27/03/2015 21:30

Today's purchases:

Ralph Lauren dress

Reiss skirt

Plus a black tuxedo style jacket from Mint Velvet.

I think they are all keepers but I haven't removed any tags yet just in case!
