Has anyone tried the HOC Crystal Pink lip gloss? I'm after a frosted pink (looks ace on me with that damson jumper from H&M) since I only have a crappy cheap one and I really like their lip glosses.

didireallysaythat · 11/02/2015 19:44

I'm back from revisiting my consultant. Much better. I don't have to like my colours (phew) and if I can live with a one tick at 25% more than a 2 ** at 100% then I should be wearing the former. So that's good. I'm going to reorganise my wallet and banish the colours I absolutely hate.

Style - well I'm going to have to come to terms with never wearing a skirt above my knees, showing off my tree trunk waist, never wearing blue jeans again, discarding my biker boots and buying pretty shoes. This is all going to be HARD. So I'm going to start gentle. The first one to find me a black work dress, mid calf suitable for a natural romantic and suitable pretty shoes (no clunky heels, lots of detailing oh and ideally resistant to solvents and liquid nitrogen) wins a prize !!!

applesandchairs · 11/02/2015 21:39

The green trousers are from asos Foogle, crepe cigarette trousers I think they were called, only just bought them so they'll still be there, they're very flattering too especially with heels

QueenCardigan · 11/02/2015 21:46

did did you have a style day today? I assume if so that you're a natural romantic. Remind me which colours you hated...

applesandchairs · 11/02/2015 21:48

Thanks neither, White is good on me so I'll try layering. Don't do scarves but a top underneath a jumper etc could work

didireallysaythat · 11/02/2015 22:00

Queen no I had my style day about 4 maybe 6 months ago and haven't really clicked. I feel happier with my colours now (because they aren't my colours, they can just be winter colours) but the style is a struggle since I am "biker chick" and I don't dress my age (mud forties - too old to show my knees). I'll get there. But it may take a decade or two (and even when I get old, I'm not wearing purple!)

I hate the pastels, emerald, the winter purples, the light greys, mole, and the rest of the wallet leaves me uninspired if I'm honest.... I'm OK with fushia, dark grey, electric blue, navy and black. Which, turns out, is just fine. I can't get excited about patterns so I'm staying to blocks of colours. Phew ! As I can't see why some colours may suit me better than others, I'm going to stick to colours I like. I know this sounds fairly obvious but I think the fact they were lower scoring distracted me from the obvious.

winterdays · 11/02/2015 22:17

Queen Cardigan
What about button boots - Edwardian style
I have always loved them and the make me think of natural injenue

SorrelForbes · 12/02/2015 07:56

My Me & Em breton top arrived yesterday. I ordered the cobalt blue in a M. It's a keeper (not sure it's worth £50 though), good neckline and a brilliant length (even though I'm fairly short in find lots of tops are cut really short these days).

I dithered over buying a M or a L as their size guide indicated that I should be a L/XL to accommodate my boobs. However, I went for the M as I know from past experience I tend to end up with swathes of extra material around my waist if I size up. The M fits fine but be warned, this top is not a loose fit like in the picture. I reckon I'd need an XXXL minimum to get it to hang like the one in the brochure!

SilkStalkings · 12/02/2015 18:51

Ooh don't think I could handle a style day! You're very brave Did! I have decided I am a dramatic romantic and would be well pissed off to be told otherwiseGrin (Also probably dress too young for my age but don't care)

didireallysaythat · 12/02/2015 19:14

Silk I'm not really following my hoc style ! I haven't had a pair a pretty shoes in my life. I got married a flip-flops.

winterdays · 12/02/2015 21:39

Lands end emerald cardigan came back today.
Colour and quality are lovely but I am going to have to try a size down.
I'm between 12 and 14.
Choice was 10 -12 or 14 -16.
I choose standard (not long) - I'm 5 8 with long arms and it was very big.
It swamped me but sleeves were perfect.

QueenCardigan · 13/02/2015 09:44

winter its a great colour isn't it. Edwardian boots sound lovely but the trouble I have with boots is that they are lovely and pretty but don't suit my natural lifestyle (ie school run) and go with jeans (which is pretty much what I wear) or they are lovely and natural, go with jeans but don't have enough pretty detailing or look delicate enough Confused.

did glad you're happier with your colours now.

NeitherHereOrThere · 13/02/2015 11:09

Landsend is an American brand so tends to be on the baggy side which is why I will go for petite next time. I would try looking at woolovers - the styling is old fashioned but its good for good value decent quality knitwear.

Today's outfit is Primark pine LS top with ancient indigo skinnies, Boden navy cable knit jumper, burgundy snood and mole coloured sheepskin lined calf length boots from Clarks (bought a few years ago).

NeitherHereOrThere · 13/02/2015 15:22

Have just ordered this www.woolovers.com/cashmere-merino/womens/classic-ladies-crew-cardigan.aspx in burgundy/wine as I need a cardigan in that colour to match my shoes. It will be good to wear for work as well. Will report back when it arrives.

The rimmel stick I bought a few weeks ago has turned orangey-red Confused there is another red in the range but it is even more orange. Not happy.

ItIsntJustAPhase · 13/02/2015 16:09

Yes, I wasn't pleased with the Rimmel. But my mum is an autumn so I just pass them on to her when they don't work. Grin

GingerLemonTea · 13/02/2015 19:01

Hi, rejoining the thread, probably not been on since November due to 2 small children, everyone being ill (nothing serious) & sleep deprivation!
I feel grey, drab & run down.
So I'm back to it, going to look after myself a bit more, lose a few pounds & makeover myself & wardrobe.
I have ordered Lipstick Queen Medeival.
Today bought Clarins 3 dot liner & Mac Plumful.
Also had shoes delivered today, will report back if they're any good.

GingerLemonTea · 13/02/2015 19:37

So I bought these.......
pink shoes in the 'coral'.
I think they are v v close to raspberry. I don't usually wear heels but they're not that high, cheap. Thought I would wear them with dark blue jeans/ skinnies & a top to add a bit of colour.

fooogle · 14/02/2015 11:55

queen could you do some converse types with a liberty print in or something totally can't recall your style rules . That's what, in reality I live in on non work days, well navy leather ones. Love actual boots but in reality I choose comfort (maybe got some natural in me) mixed with dramatic and all else !

fooogle · 14/02/2015 11:58

Ps spent ages In Kryolan shop, yesterday and bought a red - lc104 I think,Think it's a bit orange but so hard. They either turn pink or are orange, seems no Inbetween like you guys' rimmels

NeitherHereOrThere · 14/02/2015 13:56

foogle - it is hard and I think the rimmel stick actually turned slightly orangey red because it was fine a month ago or so. Weird.

The M&S shoes do look raspberry rather than coral - I have a similar pair in burgundy/damson which I love wearing.

My grey converses have got holes so I am looking at either white sneakers or the snakeskin effect black ones. Not doing well with this no spending ban!!

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2015 16:51

The Lime Crime lipstick in Red Velvet is a really true red. No orange there at all.

I bought a magic lipstick in Red from Amazon. It's ok, it's basically pink on me. Mediocre staying power despite the claims to the contrary on the website. If anyone wants it for the cost of postage then just pm me.

ItIsntJustAPhase · 15/02/2015 19:56

Will sent most of Lands End order back but will definitely keep this dark navy tshirt , this hot pink tshirt and this hot pink vest .

I am probably going to keep these £40 straight leg high waist indigo jeans but I already have some Biba ones that coats £13 in the sale last year.

I am really torn about this red spotty dress. I think it would work for casual and dressing up. The red is not orangey, the navy is great, and the other spots are an exact match for mole. It would work with a navy cardi or jacket and maybe white shoes?

This dress suits me better colour wise, but I have no idea what shoes would work with it. And I can't tell whether it would be casual enough for every day.

At £50 each after the 20% off code I want to be sure!

mimiasovitch · 15/02/2015 19:59

Hi all. I would say that the Maybelline 24 hour color in cherry pie is a a good true red too. I now have it in a plum and raspberry too.

I succumbed to the Kettlewell website and bought this in the ruby. I gave up on it being in the sale, and I love it. If there were more winter colours I'd buy them The azure isn't the best on me, and the ruby is quite bright so I don't feel I need the true red, so maybe I'll have to get the light grey. Its very flattering, and suits me as a romantic I think. If anyone knows of a similar style elsewhere, please share.

Didi - I had my style rules (no chunky boots ) just after having purchased a very pretty (in my opinion) pair of DMs. They do have a flowery lining and flowery ribbon laces, so I consider them a good compromise for my need for comfort and support for my rubbish ankle. However I mostly wear biker boots which are super comfy and I love them with everything. (Also, I'm limping a fair bit at the mo, so heels are a no go anyway, and I refuse to suffer.)

NeitherHereOrThere · 15/02/2015 21:28

Both dresses are great - a bit different and special to the everyday dresses I see around. Most shoes should be fine with both dresses - knee length boots would work well as well. Black one is a bit smarter than the spotty one - you can wear any jacket (leather/denim/blazer) or cardigans with both.

Mimi - I've seen draped tops in Phase Eight but not sure if the colours are as good this season.

NowhereNow · 15/02/2015 22:41

I love the grosgrain shift dress, much prefer it to the other one.

I really like the shape of the Kettlewell drape sweater. I got the slightly similar cowl neck one in sapphire and it is fabulous - it looks to be more fitted than the sweater so perhaps not what you want. I was going to get the cowl one in raspberry or mallard too but they sold out too quickly in my size.

Looks like there are a few winter colours left in M, L and LL:
