I wonder if anyone knows if the selling scheme for these products is above board. My DD has an American FB friend who sent her some 'revolutionary' mascara with which she was very pleased. This friend has now anounced that DD has joined the Younique sales team.I've read all the stuff on line about this and it does sound genuinine but as I'm a cynical old bag I wonder if any Mumsnetter's know more than the power of Google.TIA.

OP posts:
Fcukfifa · 26/10/2014 20:20

I thought I was using a younique mascara when I posted the first picture. My friend had bought it for me. I now know it's not younique, I thought I had explained earlier on in the thread, but obviously not enough.

It's the same as someone talking about Liz Earle cleanse and polish and then someone saying they liked superdrug vit e hot cloth cleanser. Similar products.

Not sure why your getting so pissy about it all though.

OttiliaVonBCup · 26/10/2014 20:22

I'm getting pissy bored because I'm sitting here with not much to do before Homeland starts.

Fcukfifa · 26/10/2014 20:23

Oh and yes she is wearing soap and glory on the other eye.

Other friend is selling her own mascara through different channels.

OttiliaVonBCup · 26/10/2014 20:26

So you are comparing the type of product?

bolshieoldcow · 26/10/2014 20:28

I misread the title and thought the thread was about 'Yonique' beauty products… Blush

lurkingaround · 26/10/2014 20:34

Oh my head!!! I'm befuddled and confused..... mascara that's like mascara that might be mascara that might look good on your left eye but definitely won't look good on right but only if it's the other brand and then only if it's not the right brand and only if you buy the other brand from the right person....
All screams: width berth. Jeez. Wtf.

OttiliaVonBCup · 26/10/2014 20:38

No Lurking.
It's two mascaras you use on the same eye to get the spiderflutter.
Do keep up.

Fcukfifa · 26/10/2014 20:42

Sorry, all im trying to ultimately say is that I really like the generic 'fibre lash' types of mascara. I think the the quality of the different brands (eg. younique/other brand) doesnt really differ. But i was genuinely impressed when I tried it. I know its not for everyone (definitely know now!).

Just got a little carried away I guess.

aylesburyduck · 26/10/2014 21:01

One of my friends has joined. She's trying to convince me to buy this amazing mascara....

I am not convinced that the mascara is that amazing. And I'm not paying 23 quid for a mascara either!!

KatieKaye · 26/10/2014 22:04

£23 for a really cheap look?
£23 for a result that looks like a kid trying to put on mascara for the very first time and getting it horribly wrong?

No way. No matter what it's called - the result is the same and it's not good.

Fcukfifa · 26/10/2014 23:08

Finally nailed it Grin

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 26/10/2014 23:14

Oh my dear god!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like bristles on a worn out floor brush

Greengardenpixie · 26/10/2014 23:14

Eyelashes look like they are made of wool!! I think that looks er...horrible. Havent read the whole thread and not sure who's eyelashes they belong too...but imo , far to thick, clumpy and woolly.

Fuckerysmuckeryboilsnspornery · 26/10/2014 23:22

I'll bite. Tis what we refer to as "year 10 eyelashes" usually go with Groucho eyebrows. You do have lovely eyes-lashes don't help you.

WhoKnowsWhereTheSlimeGoes · 26/10/2014 23:25

That looks horrific. One of my friends has just signed up for this, I'd never heard of it till coming accross this thread tonight, going to be giving it a wide berth.

TheSpottedZebra · 26/10/2014 23:37

Babs nailed it too!!!!!! !

Fcukfifa

You have rocked up on a thread filled with sick puppets trying to persuade mumsnetters - some of whom are desperately short of money - to pay £69 in the hope of flogging make up to their mates.
You didn't just casually recommend the mascara, you posted pictures which implied they were the results one would get from the Younique product and even had a bizarre 'before and after' comparison shot of a product which your friend may or maynot be trying to sell.

So either you are just incredibly helpful and a bit weird - taking odd photos of your friend in case sometime in the future random women on the Internet start talking about a similar (yet not actually the same) product, or it's something else.

So not pissy so much as seeking clarity.

Plus Lifeloveandlaundry will be pleased to know that I actually am lying on a sun lounger in the Maldives so I have fuck all else to do.
And Lifeloveandlaundry, one of the reasons I got here is that I never buy shit because randoms on the Internet try to convince me to.

Fcukfifa · 27/10/2014 07:38

The last picture was a joke btw.

The first reason I posted on the thread was to say I dont agree with youniques selling practices but I liked (what I thought I had been bought) the actual product.

After, I realised it wasn't a younique mascara but just a generic 3d fibre mascara.

I've not in any way tried to get anybody involved with younique or to spend £69. My mascara cost £18. I didn't mention the price, or where to buy it from because I was simply saying I liked the product.

I have posted photos of my hair in the past where somebody with a similar complexion was wondering about going darker. I have posted photos of my living room, of things I have painted etc.

By all means pick apart that you don't like the mascara, my awful, clumpy spider lashes etc But don't make out I an trying to dupe people. Because that is not the case.

Pagwatch · 27/10/2014 08:08

I did get that the last picture was a joke - I should have Grined.

I'm going to pick apart any post that is sitting alongside 'gee moms, just spend this money and you can easily make lots of dosh'. I think it would be be shit if people didn't.
So you may well have innocent intent but you surely don't expect to post gushing praise along with photos alongside various posts which are barely concealed advertising blurb and have not scrutiny? I would be desperately disappointed in mn if this crappy thread were not picked apart.

If you are impressed by the mascara then maybe post the name of one that people could go to a shop and buy without the whole £69 rip off undercurrent.

What is the one you are wearing and where did you buy it from?

DomiKatetrixortreat · 27/10/2014 09:58

Do you have to sign a contract in which you agree to use exclamation points at the end of most sentences?

!!!

lurkingaround · 27/10/2014 10:06

Am I the only one who noticed Pagwatch is in the Maldives?? How lovely is it Pagwatch? Cloudy here, with a chance of meatballs.

Pagwatch · 27/10/2014 11:05

Its properly bloody amazing! I have a burnt nose and a glass of wine and I am sitting on my sofa over the water watching black tip sharks and rays.
I am not wearing mascara. Of any brand Grin

Pagwatch · 27/10/2014 11:07

Am also putting 'I'm in the Maldives' in every post. Working it into good housekeeping and chicken keepers will be a stretch...

TheSpottedZebra · 27/10/2014 11:15

What like a 'sent from my iPhone' tag?
You should do that.

Sent from my sofa

Pagwatch · 27/10/2014 11:24
Grin Great idea . I could do that!

Or I could just cut to the chase

i am a massive wanker
