I wonder if anyone knows if the selling scheme for these products is above board. My DD has an American FB friend who sent her some 'revolutionary' mascara with which she was very pleased. This friend has now anounced that DD has joined the Younique sales team.I've read all the stuff on line about this and it does sound genuinine but as I'm a cynical old bag I wonder if any Mumsnetter's know more than the power of Google.TIA.

Last point, then I am off!!!!! I DO NOT SELL MY KIT! It's my product to USE!!! If people want it themselves they buy it through my website receiving the product they've ordered through their letterbox!

Well, at least you've got £69 of make up you like!

What % commission do you get on your sales? What is the average price of the products? What % of your commission do you give your sponsor?

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 08/10/2014 18:15

So you've spent £69 on what? £20 worth if overpriced cheap makeup? They've had you already.

Report
PercyHorse · 08/10/2014 18:18

Fcukfifa you look lovely. Your mascara looks crappy. It's clumped.

If it requires you to lose all your friends by bugging them to buy cheap product for a hefty price tag, has work colleagues avoiding you and looks kind of like a triangle but in 3D avoid it.

Isn't the point of the kit so you put it on yourself, take photos of yourself then put them on facebook?

I would always question a company that expects you to do that tbh, if the products were that amazing they would be online sell through their own website or for customers to test like avon or bodyshop etc with visiting potential customers or having parties.

I just find it incredibly naff (and spider eyes are not nice!)

Lifeloveandlaundry- sorry, I think the answers to the questions I am asking will be of use to other people who might be interested in this "opportunity" . So no, I an mot prepared to carry on via PM. I think the fact that you are not prepared to answer on an open forum is very telling. I hope anyone else reading this will draw their own conclusions.

I get that you like mascara.
But IMO it looks awful in the photo you posted and that alone would put me off the product. It's exactly the look that would make me remove it and start again with a different mascara and throw the other one out. It looks like there is a really crappy brush, something I can't stand.
Oh, and the name is another huge turn off. But that is just me.

Redhead11 · 08/10/2014 18:39

The way the name is spelt puts me off before i even go any further, but i hate the way the mascara looks in the photo. It looks very clumpy. Was it a real faff to put on? It certainly looks it. And to be honest, as soon as i read what you were saying, i was backing off. Dodgy in the extreme and as everyone else has said, don't touch with a barge pole!

I understand your point Hakluyt, my apologies, it wasn't my intention to cause any offence. I am providing information thats all. I am not selling nor recruiting. As I said in my PM I get 20% commission then 25% rising to 30% as I work through sales amounts and my team grows. My sponsor takes none of my commission she gets 3% out of the profit of the product. the products are on par with bareMinerals but gram for gram value is better i.e. bb cream is £25 for 50mls against £26 for 30mls of bareMinerals.

I think it's my crappy application that's made it look bad.
It's over the top of dior show mascara which is my most hated mascara ever.

It is quite a faff putting it on, you do a layer of your own mascara, then a layer of their mascara, then there's another wand with 'fibres' which are like bits of fluff that you put on the other wet layer, then another of the mascara.

You can then build the layers up, I did two. If I had lash comb to comb through inbetween layers they would have looked better.

There's better examples on youtube, I guess I'm doing more harm to the brand Grin

That sounds like a lot of effort.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 08/10/2014 20:41

Every photo I have seen of that fibre lash mascara it is ALWAYS clumpy and looking like spiders legs, no matter who is wearing it or how much they have put on. The fact that you have to 'stick' fibres to your lashes says it all.

As for Lifes sponsor getting 3% of the product, at least most companies like this are honest and show you what your 'sponser' earns in relation to your own. Other companies don't out with that, they tell you what percentage commission those above you make on your sales and it's a lot more commission than you make

Four different layers with three different products?
Gulp.
I've neither got the time on the inclination to do that. Two coats of a mascara with a decent wand is fine for me! But then I don't like the overdone look.

Meh, I worded that wrong -making cookies lol

Life, your 'sponsor' will be earning a set rate of commission on all your combined sales aswell as on that of others in her team. Just how much do you think these products are really worth when it all comes out?

As for comparing with bareminerals, that is just their say. And there is clearly a different target market too. People who go for bareminerals tend to go for a natural, light or polished look. Younique sells drag queen mascara.

Don't be too sure about how well you are going to do with this, you may do ok but you will probably struggle, especially with an unknown company. Most importantly though, don't believe all the bumpf they tell you and get over excited thinking it's amazing when not much is really known and don't go telling people they'll make loads of money by posting the stuff on facebook

Report
Fcukfifa · 08/10/2014 22:26

I actually don't mind it for a night out, I must like the over done drag queen look Grin

My friend who bought it for me got it shipped from America from her sil who since has sent her lots of messages telling her not to buy it from so and so, leaving her voicemails etc, just gone a little do lally over it all really.

I'm a younique presenter! The reviews I read we're amazing! I joined still unsure. But one my kit arrived and I used the products! I fell in love with Younique! Finally found a product I'm passionate about! I can't sell something I don't like! I posted before n after pics for my friends and family and my order list has gotten longer n longer by the day!!!! Plus I have recruited a few ladies! So basically I made my money bk! Those on here that wouldn't touch it with a barge pole attitude........totally not younique material! And negative people not get far!

Sam, my friend is buying the mascara from a wholesaler for £10 per mascara (with 10 free mascara a for every hundred bought) and will be selling them for £20. No pissing about annoying all her friends and family on fb.

Like I said before, I do genuinely like the mascara but I hate the hard sell on social nedia sites and would never buy from someone doing that.

Fcukfifa · 26/10/2014 18:24

Was just wondering if anyone else had any experiences of the 3d mascara?

Report
trainersandaches · 26/10/2014 18:38

I've been add to a 'secret' Younique Facebook group as part of some competition from someone who is clearly about to start flogging Younique at me. I left sharpish.

If makeup is good, I'll read about it or be told by friends, I don't need brainwashed Facebook people to tell me about a REVOLUTIONARY mascara ffs.

Report
trainersandaches · 26/10/2014 18:40

Fcukfifa you have absolutely lovely eyes but that mascara wouldn't be for me btw.

Report
Fcukfifa · 26/10/2014 18:46

I have admitted that my first attempt at it wasn't very good, instead of using dior show mascara underneath I've got a cheapy maybelline mascara and have now mastered it!

My friend is selling the mascara well, it's not the younique one, she is branding her own version. I do really rate the mascara and feel like youniques dodgy selling practices (and my own shitty picture Grin) are ruining it.

I let my friend use mine earlier and her eyelashes looked beautiful after, I'll find the pic

The fibre mascara is on the left and her own soap and glory one is on the right (she is blessed with beautiful eyes and eyelashes already though)

Report
TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 26/10/2014 18:57

No, even on your friend the fibre lashes look horrible and overdone. That does not look nice

Why are so many people into the looking overly fake thing? There are nice eyes ad nice lashes then there is over the top fakery

Good grief.
Do these products reduce IQ because this thread is just cringy.
