I wonder if anyone knows if the selling scheme for these products is above board. My DD has an American FB friend who sent her some 'revolutionary' mascara with which she was very pleased. This friend has now anounced that DD has joined the Younique sales team.I've read all the stuff on line about this and it does sound genuinine but as I'm a cynical old bag I wonder if any Mumsnetter's know more than the power of Google.TIA.

I'm not a seller it affiliated with younique in any way, but my friends sister in law brought some over fom America about a month ago. We bit tried it out and it really is good. She ordered me one for my birthday which I got today, I will post a pic tomorrow!

My friend is thinking about getting involved in the selling but doesn't like the whole mlm thing. She wishes she could just buy some in bulk and sell on herself

Anything that recruits like the op describes is clearly a scam/pyramid scheme of some kind.

@Fcukfifa your friend can buy in bulk and sell cash and carry to her friends if she wants to, she doesn't have to recruit.
@Minesapintoftea it is not a scam nor a pyramid scheme, those are illegal and the definition of pyramid scheme is when there is money exchanged but no product or service. People at the top make money leaving the pyramid to collapse and those lower down lose their money.
If you look at most organisations and companies that the majority of us work for, what shape would they be??? Pyramid shaped!!! People who work in network marketing can surpass the people above them if they want to and work hard!
Younique is a legit company who are giving women across the world the chance to take control of their own financial freedoms and work life and I am thrilled to be working with them in this.

Pmsl at the unsubtle advertising. It's a dodgy pyramid scheme. Avoid.

I like the actual product (really not involved) but I wouldn't get into the whole scheme of selling it, even if I could get my head around it Hmm

So when do you expect to start earning money and how much do you expect to earn? What return do you expect for your £69?

Report
sparrowno1 · 08/10/2014 16:32

The sales pitch sounds a bit like a bodyform advert.

I'll be skydiving with my mascara. Roller skates is so Avon.

Lifeloveandlaundry · 08/10/2014 17:15

LOL! I havent roller skated for years! Do I need leg warmers too? Skydiving while applying mascara sounds fun though - new take an the mascara faces we all pull!!
I get it, you don't believe that someone could be successful by selling makeup from home, it has to be a scam and a pyramid scheme hasn't it!! I know we all have the right to opinions but really??? I expect to earn money when I get my product out to people in early november, how much money, as I have said before depends entirely on how hard I work. I have a full time job so I expect to work in the evenings when my Los are asleep. I will be working on my laptop with a glass of wine probably in my pjs!
Also, I didn't mean to imply that women aren't financially free so I apologise if anybody thought I did. We all work hard in lots of different jobs in lots of different and sometimes difficult situations.

Every time I read sponsor I think either of an AA NA situation or something necessitating a hike or run at the pointy end

Stop flogging stuff on MN fgs

How overpriced is the shite stuff in the first place for all these people to be profiting from it?

"expect to earn money when I get my product out to people in early november, how much money, as I have said before depends entirely on how hard I work"

So, if you work, say, reasonably hard, how much return do you expect to make on your £69?

Please don't think Im trying to sell the products to you or recruit. I'm not. Full stop. It"s against the MN guidelines isn't it? I replied to a genuine query posted by someone wanting to know about the company and if her daughter had been duped. I am intrigued by the mood of the replies.... Why does it get such a response? I am honestly not some person who is trying to scam anyone, I could never do that!!

Ok thats cool. Genuine questions and truthful information are not what you guys want so I will leave it there. Take care everyone and I hope you have a great evening x

Hakluyt · 08/10/2014 18:06

But you have bought £69 worth of product? That is your stock, right? What is your % markup? If you sell it all, how much will you make? You don't need a crystwl ball for that, you just need a calculator.

It's what I want! Why aren't you giving it?
