Sounds like you'll look fab on Monday One. What shoes will you wear? Converse? I think a student capsule wardrobe is a great idea!

I can do evening on 22nd.

Dry I don't think it's mutton at all, would be really cute with opaque tights in a gamine way. Hope you feel better and are enjoying a Lemsip!

fedup good boden purchases, the bag looks like a great buy. I'd love a proper festive going out bag, might look for one after xmas Grin

AmberNectarine · 13/09/2014 14:34

Marsha I had to spend £70 when I smashed my phone screen this week. The worst kind of outlay.

OneLittleLady · 13/09/2014 15:07

I love these brogues do you think i can pull them off? I absolutely love the colour of them but i wear a lot of black so do you think they'd work with that?

Sleepwhenidie · 13/09/2014 15:22

I did same a couple of weeks ago Amber Hmm v annoying.

Just arriving at Blackheath, festival on, Massive Attack this evening. Attempt at London festival chic is leather mini, Pistols, white scoop neck t and pendants. Jumper in bag!!

shopafrolic · 13/09/2014 15:32

OneLittleLady · 13/09/2014 15:45

do you think they'd work better in grey shop? they have grey as an option but I'm not sure if they grey is edging too much towards the brown side of things myself

Very jealous sleep your outfit sounds fab!

shopafrolic · 13/09/2014 16:02

I just bought new slippers here
I am very excited and a bit sad

shopafrolic · 13/09/2014 16:04

I think you'd look better in a flat brogue TBH One with a chunky sole.

OP posts:
OneLittleLady · 13/09/2014 16:04

they look really comfy and warm shop I'd be excited too, I love a good pair of slippers

shopafrolic · 13/09/2014 16:06

a bit more like Dr Martens shop? as I think marsha suggested before? they might be a bit more 'me' tbh

shopafrolic · 13/09/2014 16:08

I think so One they'd be fab for you

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 13/09/2014 16:21

Now you've mentioned Dr Martens again One I think yes they'd be fab for you.

Shop love the slippers.

Sleep I love Massive Attack too, takes me back to university years, jealous too, have a great time!

I was fine in Matches, really lovely stuff, but too £££, therefore easy to think ah can't buy that. But it was hard to walk from Liberty. I have my eye on a Marant Etoile coat, pistol with shearling and grey that Shop linked and a navy Rag&Bone jumper. But I was steadfastly not spending today. I have a new hob and fridge freezer to buy - the new oven demands their upgrade.

I'm out tonight, need to decide what to wear grey suede Rossis

MarshaBrady · 13/09/2014 16:22

Amber I know, it's such a pita. The jumper was only £100 something from the outnet anyway. So half the price of new. Crazy. Better be the great british invisible mending co and not the great british rip off. They must love moths.

BrandyAlexander · 13/09/2014 16:33

Hello everyone! Hope you're having lovely Saturdays :)

I am a maybe for 22nd will let you know nearer time!

Grumpy, you're another one I was asking about last week. Thanks to you x

Shop, you poor thing.Thanks.

Had a really busy up and down week. The gap in my diary just never appeared, it's just been horrendous since I got back from hols. Also I hate 9/11 and got caught in a bomb scare on Thursday so was freaking out. On the upside I was pitching for 4 contracts at work pre holiday and first result (biggest one worth 7 figs) is in and I won.Grin But means I will be flat out for the rest of the yearSad. On the better upside ds hasn't cried all week. His lovely teacher has been diving in to prise him away from me in a jolly way.

On fashion front I wore this dress to work yesterday. Felt amazing. Dh and I went out last night and I came home so decided to change. I was wearing this warehouse cowl neck top with blue jcrew matchstick jeans. Over it I was wearing a beige suit jacket and dune flats. Dh and I met at the venue and his first words were "Wow, you're always beautiful but you look amazing, so trendy and young". 24 hours later the compliment is still making me smile. glossing over his subsequent grope of my arse

OneLittleLady · 13/09/2014 16:39

Ho scary novice about the scare I mean. Sounds like things have been hectic for you. I hope you able to get time to relax soon. Your outfits sound great, i bet you looked fab and it would seem Dh definitely thought so Wink

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/09/2014 16:59

fedup wedding planning is moving along slowly. The main thing on my mind is dresses. The date I have set for the first shopping outing is 4th October, which seems ages away, but is the first Saturday my sister is free.

I was recommended Pronovias on Bond St by mara - has anyone got any other suggestions in central london to go to as well? Or general tips? The point of this trip is to work out which style I need, as I don't know what will suit me. Is that a good idea?

I don't like this sort of shopping (not to mention I never wear long dresses) and am a bit nervous.

shopafrolic · 13/09/2014 17:04

Blair first up - you don't have to wear a long dress. My friend got married last weekend in a sort of fifties style 3/4 length skirt with loads of nets and looked amazing. I went into the first shop and tried 3 styles of dresses, column, A line and mahoosive toilet roll holder enormo skirt. Once I'd got a feel for the basic shape that suited me I went from there..... it's fun! Relax and enjoy :)

BrandyAlexander · 13/09/2014 17:34

Thanks One.Smile Bet you're so excited this weekend!

Blair, what I did was do a lot of research on what type of dress would suit my shape. I then looked at lots of dresses on line to get idea of which kind of dresses they meant (I had no idea what an A line dress was before I got married!). I was totally clueless but by the time I went to my first appointment, I had a good idea what should suit me and what shouldn't. I had actually seen a dress online that I liked so tried that first loved it, then went on to try on lots of other dresses, especially in the shapes I had already decided weren't me. Trying on the other dresses confirmed that I was right on what suited me. something like this might help

What's your dress budget?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/09/2014 17:49

Shop I was tempted by the idea of a short dress (knee length, not tea) but my venue definitely suits a long dress. I haven't ruled it out though. And thanks for the reassurance... I definitely want to enjoy it!

novice thanks for the link! I don't know about budget. Blush my mum is paying, and I think she may be a little out of touch with how much dresses can cost. On the other hand, I am finding it hard coming to terms with how much I may need to spend to wear one dress for one day. I think I just need to get over it though :/

I would love to get a discounted dress from a sample sale or something, but I don't think I have enough time to wait around for those. There are 2 huge wedding fairs in london this month but that will be before I've tried on any dresses.

shopafrolic · 13/09/2014 18:12

Go to one of the fairs if you can - have a nose around. Drink champers and nick all the freebies. Try some stuff there. Worth waiting till the end of the show when they often sell off their display stock......

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 13/09/2014 18:12

In the end I actually found my dress with a friend - and then got my mum to come and see it. I found it a lot less stressful that way :)

OP posts:
BrandyAlexander · 13/09/2014 18:23

Oh god, we offended both parents on both sides because they were trying to pay for the whole thing. I refused point blank (dh grudgingly agreed!) because I didn't want anyone questioning how much I wasted spent on things like my dress.Grin I like to gaze lovingly at it. No matter what you spend the number 1 rule is it has to fit your body shape and size. I get ranty about brides who squeeze into smaller or ill fitting dresses. Grin

santamarianovella · 13/09/2014 18:38

sleep enjoy your time ,your outfit sounds fab,I have no idea who massive attack are,but sounds fun.

I'm in London last week of nov, I might, might be able to make it, for the 22nd,so I'm a maybe.

We spent the whole day by the harbour, had lunch at this tiny sea food place, didnt look anything special but they had the best fish&chips ever, seriously! I've ate fish&chips all over the UK, but nothing even comes close,I don't know if it was the beer they used for the batter,or maybe the type of fish, anyway it was a scrumptious . for this Heavenly experience i wore my chinti and Parker sweater, R&B skinnies, And Chloe flats, I know I will need to kill myself tomorrow at the gym,but it was totally worth it, Smile ,

marsha now you are making me think about pistols , I saw some today, but I couldn't get in and try,had the dcs with me, do you think they exclusively look good with skinnies? Can they be worn with dresses?
