I've noticed you MN-ers have very expensive taste in perfume. I just blind bought madonnas 'truth or dare' for under a tenner, and...I like it!

It's strong stuff!

So I thought I'd ask.. What bargains have you discovered in the world of smellies?

I've got a thing for the forgotten classics that you can get in pharmacies.
They're usually really nice but a little out of fashion...

Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue
Eden (you do need to use this sparingly!)
Kate Moss Vintage Muse £5.99 on TJ Hughes website
Maurer & Witz 4711 is about £6
Tabu (don't laugh, it's nice if you like spicy oriental scents)

Chloe Narcisse

I think some of the Arabian perfume brands are worth investigating too

I love 5th Ave. It reminds me of the first time I had financial independence, I bought some just because I could Smile

francesdrake · 04/09/2014 14:09

Yardley Royal Diamond smells just like Chloe, and the Peony eau de toilette is lovely - both under a tenner. I got a huge bottle in a Boots sale and spritz it liberally after a pre-bed bath.

Body Shop White Musk is still a gorgeous fragrance. Something very soft and reassuring about it.

ThisBitchIsResting · 04/09/2014 15:37

I have the Zara rose one, it's lush, just wish it lasted longer on me.

M and S Autograph Pink is nice too, I have the body spray and often give myself a squoosh all over, teenage stylee, before leaving the house.

Lunastarfish · 04/09/2014 15:51

I'm classy, for me it's Exclamation! Boots stored selling it though :-(

cardamomginger · 04/09/2014 15:53

SJP Lovely. Not cheap full price, but there are loads of discount places on line where it's a real bargain.

readyforno2 · 04/09/2014 15:55

Embarrassed to even mention this, but my everyday perfume is Katie price stunning. I love it and people always comment on it..

cardamomginger · 04/09/2014 16:17

Katie Price!! Grin.

Someone gave me Burberry Touch for Christmas one year, it was not bad at all. Not too sweet smelling and a little bit cologney. Think it's about £10 now.

NancyFancyPants · 04/09/2014 17:40

Britney Spears Believe.

It's a gorgeous patchouli/praline mix and it lasts really well. Absolutely love it!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/09/2014 17:58

M&S used to do one (about 20 years ago) in a frosted oval bottle (flat base) then it was in a frosted cylinder bottle (and much smaller)
Someone said it smelled like "Aromatics" by Clinique but I've never smelled that.

And I'm quite partial to the smell of 4711

IRL, I don't wear perfume .

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 04/09/2014 18:03

I bought a huge bottle of eau de cologne in Greece, 5euros, splash it on and spritz in day. Smells lovely and lasts quite well.
I use Madame glamour from lidl too.

Powaqa · 04/09/2014 18:20

Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy - I love the smell and always get compliments. It does make me laugh when I tell people what it is and they seem shocked

I also like the Katy Price perfume

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 04/09/2014 18:36

What was the site where you could put in your favourite perfume and it finds one that smells the same? Why didn't I bookmark it, it was so cheap!

F0ssil · 04/09/2014 18:37

Some of the body shop ones are lovely. HONESTLY, FORGET about patchouli and dewberry! they have lovely cheap scents.

F0ssil · 04/09/2014 18:39

Eden is like a mouldy old fish tank. I used to wonder who'd wear that!

Greengardenpixie · 04/09/2014 19:15

I am not sure its cheap but have rekindled my liking for la dolce vita by Christian Dior.

CarbeDiem · 04/09/2014 19:23

Lunastarfish I love Exclamation, it reminds me of my teenage years :) You've made me want some now.

I often grab a bottle of Lou Lou too, that's quite cheap.
I tend to wear strong long lasting perfumes. I'm naturally a hot person and the likes of Calvin klein and Marc Jacobs seem to evaporate very quickly from my skin so it's more economical for me to buy a heavy scent :)

I'm currently using up some Red Door, I got in a Xmas gift set - it's mega strong and I only need one squirt to last for ages.

My favourite (for the last few years) and not that cheap is DKNY Red delicious.

readyforno2 · 04/09/2014 19:25

I know cardamom..
But, it's really cheap £9.99 for a gift set and I love it Blush

itsnothingoriginal · 04/09/2014 20:20

I've got loads of cheap perfume Blush

The M & S Per Una range is really nice - particularly love the Bohemia one! Also like the Monotheme perfumes from there.

I also have the Lidl Mme Glamour and Suddenly Diamonds - both nice although don't last too long

I have a Britney one - cosmic radiance which is slightly too heavy with lychee to start with but nice after an hour or so..

The original Ghost fragrance is lovely and mine is about to run out so will get some more - usually on offer somewhere.

I'm going to stop there but sadly I've got loads more - think I have a cheap perfume obsession Grin

itsnothingoriginal · 04/09/2014 20:25

YY to Body Shop perfumes - Neroli Jasmine is lovely and I like the White Musk smoky rose one but doesn't last 5 minutes on me!

JavaSparrow · 04/09/2014 21:56

Gaggiagirl, where did you find lamb? I can't find it anywhere!

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 04/09/2014 22:06

Weirdly enough morrisons have got mid range perfumes quite cheap. (But I got Prada ambre for 18 quid-going on eBay as I don't like it)
