OK, following on from 'Bag Recommendations for £900 thread', I took the 'bag by the handles' and started a bag lovers thread. This is not a 'OMG why would you spend that amount on a bag' thread, its purely a lust thread.

We look, we lust, we love, we discuss. Grin

My first offering the new Gucci Lady Tassel in mandarin. Love this...

That red is lovely.

What is the leather like on the box? I imagine it is very similar to the trapeze which is hard and slightly shiny (as opposed to soft and relaxed) and so scratches terribly.

Pastperfect · 31/08/2014 13:31

Oh and Blush Blush Blush re the photos thing Blush

I wasn't implying no one should use stock photos

QueenCardigan · 31/08/2014 14:00

Great thread. Can't beat bit of bag porn. I've just come across the givenchy beauty.

Oh no Pastperfect I didn't think that! I do think it's odd that they are so cagey in shops about photos. I'm not sure what they are trying to protect themselves from.

QueenC that purple Givenchy is gorgeous.

santamarianovella · 31/08/2014 17:07

Remember that marsha ! Grin, we associate you with celine orange now, its difficult to imagine you wearing anything else, but to be honest the box loses the appeal when its in brights,
But the red one is beautiful too, maybe I could try to do red.

pastperfect the leather is box calf, smooth and with time it develops a beautiful patina, its not scratch resistant like grained leather, but some scratches or marks, can fade when the leather gets darker, that's why I think tan or black are the best colours for this bag,

Its strange for some shops to prohibit taking photos when people clearly can
snap photos at display windows, or copy from websites for fakes and such
,

The SA at chanel kindly let me take pictures of the bags I liked, and I posted it for my friends on MNV to ask for opinions, Its so nice to hear different opinions, they all voted for the navy flap one and I totally love it, but the strap was to short for my liking, so went for the beige boy instead,

queen oh yes, that hippo bag is so me Grin

BrandyAlexander · 31/08/2014 17:10

Now this is a bag thread! Hurrah! Great links. The bag i really want is....the Chloe Paraty in grey.

Pastperfect · 31/08/2014 17:54

The givenchy is lovely (although in reality I'm not sure I'd have use for a purple bag) but the hippo bag....not sure I have the words Grin

santa thanks. It sounds like the leather is the same as the trapeze which I've found to be a bit of a disappointment.

LinusDKD · 31/08/2014 18:43

Ahem, santa I voted for the beige Boy!

Glad you decided to take my advice. Wink

novice I knew you would find your way this this thread like a homing pigeon Grin

boodles · 31/08/2014 19:09

I own a mulberry (which I should sell really as I never use it) but, for me, my bag love is Mimi berry, I own 4. Are they considered designer enough for this thread?

LinusDKD · 31/08/2014 20:54

boodles I haven't heard of that brand but had a look on their website and they have some lovely bags. Which ones do you have.

I also have an old Mulberry Bayswater in oak (I think the first designer bag I bought for myself) that I haven't used in years. I might have to dust it off soon. Smile

QueenCardigan · 31/08/2014 20:59

Sorry, for all of you wanting the hippo bag, I should have linked it. All yours for £455....

Karbea · 31/08/2014 21:10

I've a mulberry my dh got me a few years ago, not sure what it is, will put up a pic soon. It's lovely but I hardly use it.

boodles · 31/08/2014 21:22

Linus, I have the eric in camel, the Juno in black, the spike in sky blue and the grace in damson. The leather is so gorgeous and they are so well made. I also personally love the fact that they are made in the UK.

HolgerDanske · 31/08/2014 21:32

Really really want a mulberry bayswater tote right now!! Have got it on a permanently open tab so I can look at it every day.

Only a few months to wait, I guess.

Then the big question becomes, which one, black or oak.

As soon as I have bought one I will start to think I should have bought the other colour...

santamarianovella · 31/08/2014 22:26

The first bag I bought with my own money was a mulberry bayswater in oak,my mum thought I was mad when I showed her my bag, she said that it's nice to have a bit of British style but that bag was too British,Grin ,

Boodles, the bags look very nice, and well made,
and of course anyone can join to chat about any kind of bag they like .all budgets and tastes are welcome,

Mwah linus you know me so well, I'm very happy with beige boy, looks so nice with GHW, and for your info thsts caviar with GHW , so there Wink

HolgerDanske · 31/08/2014 23:28

Heh! I don't see why that's a problem but then I'm not British so that might have something to do with it Grin

I love the tote, it is a bit less structured and formal (so maybe not quite so 'British'), which suits me nicely. Can't wait to own it. Just have to NOT SPEND on anything else for the next few months!

LinusDKD · 01/09/2014 07:44

I really like the Eric bag boodles, especially in that gorgeous bordeaux.

santa snap! Looks like we both bought the same bag as our first designer bag (bought with our own money) Smile

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 02/09/2014 22:35

Those who have bayswaters, do you carry them over your shoulder or in the crook of your arm? Can't decide which I am more comfortable with, or which looks best Confused I'm used to just firing bags over my shoulder but not sure it looks right

LinusDKD · 03/09/2014 07:37

I like those Analeena bags, especially the bright colours. No prices on the website though. We all know what that means. Wink

I wear/wore my Bayswater over the shoulder as I get annoyed quickly with 'in the crook of your arm'.

Was tricky with a thick wintercoat but not impossible.

santamarianovella · 03/09/2014 11:22

blueberries I used to carry itat the crook of my arm,

belinda those bags are so beautiful, and look well made

I offer you the prettiest bag I've seen lately the lait de coco, if I see someone wearing if on the streets ,I will stop them and demand I take a photo of the bag!

Prada; BV; Anya; Celine; Chloe; LV; Mulberry; Coach Bag LOVERS Thread. Vol 1
BelindaAllWorkedOut · 03/09/2014 17:48

The Analeena bags sound to be v well made (the descriptions sound great eg exotic skin exterior for durability, calf skin interior for luxury, bag comes w torch), and my Google searches suggest £4K price tags. Ouch. However, I would like one in yellow if anyone is feeling particularly generous, please. Smile
