Hurrah for NU's healthy bottom Grin

I have another commission. I must investigate it.

Stropperella · 01/09/2014 17:21

Dd has now enrolled in 6th form and has chosen her A levels. Maths, Biology, Chemistry and French.

hattymattie · 01/09/2014 17:57

Wow - clever girl Stropps.

Good news on the all clear NU have a great holiday x

bigTillyMint · 01/09/2014 18:07

NU, that's great news! Happy Hols!

Stropps, I did Chemistry, Maths and French!
I took Maths and French because I could do them without much effort but I shouldn't have taken Chemistry as I took it instead of English (which I was also pretty good at) because I hated my O'level English teacher!

QueenQueenie · 01/09/2014 18:15

Sounds good Stropps. Ds1 is doing A levels in Maths, Chem, Biology and (an ancient) language...

Good news NU. Bad luck MI seems to want to investigate your bottom....
Have a fantastic trip. Sounds v exciting.

Sorry you have a lot to manage with your Mum's bad news MI.

Hi Rudy! Good to see you.

Dcs back to school in the morning. Hurrah!

NUFC69 · 01/09/2014 18:28

As long as MI doesn't come towards me pinging her rubber gloves I will be all right. Grin

MontserratCaballe · 01/09/2014 18:36

Yay for a clear colon, NU. Great news. Have a fab holiday.

Those are heavy duty a levels, Strops. Good for dd. Does she have a career in mind? I was more of an English / MFL person back in the day.

motherinferior · 01/09/2014 18:42

I'm investigating pay scales for learning assistants for kids with sight problems acksherly.

A topic about which I know sweet Eff Ay.

Another guilt-inducing conversation with my sister. Sad Ho well...

cremolafoam · 01/09/2014 18:49

Ok crepeys , shall I book the aeroplane or what?
Do you think we can get a bunch of us together on the 11th October for an early Hallow'een

Meetup round the caldron?
I would like to suggest Wahaca , but think it may not be possible to book in advance unfortunately.

bigTillyMint · 01/09/2014 18:51

Cremo, definitely book the plane! The 11th is a Sat, so maybe we could do an all-dayer?Wink

beachyhead · 01/09/2014 19:17

Yes, BTM, I'm doing Camberwell next week and Goldsmiths on the 11th... I also have another 4/5 booked... I'm enjoying them - sort of like a mini Grand Tour Smile

Hurrah for clean bottom, NU.

CointreauVersial · 01/09/2014 19:17

I'm all for a Saturday meet-up - I get to bunk off for some West End shopping beforehand. Wink

Just heard uncle died this morning. Sad On my cousin's birthday, too. I didn't know the guy well enough to feel upset exactly, but it has made me very melancholy, thinking back to family get-togethers of yesteryear, cousins I never see, passage of time etc. etc.

Back to school on Wednesday. Boo. My school run route is absolutely plagued with roadworks at the moment, with a horrendously slow set of temporary lights right outside the school gates. Under normal circumstances I would dump the DCs elsewhere and get them to walk in, but I can't help feeling I really ought to see DD2 in on her first day. DD1 (whose tutor room is at the opposite end of the school) is already refusing to walk her sister in because it's "too far out of my way". Angry Then next week the fun really begins, with a three-month closure of the main road down the hill. Angry Angry

herbaceous · 01/09/2014 19:27

Defo on for 11 October, Crem. Well, unless DP springs one of his trips to Dublin on me. Or another cultural pursuit like last time.

Girding loins to begin procedure of changing DS's school. Now schools are back in their offices, I can see if any of my preferred alternatives have spaces, then get the official form, fill it in and get it signed by the current head. Thus burning my boats.

Sod's law decrees that new teacher will leap into action and be most excellent on the first day, thus throwing me into a frenzy of indecision.

Planning to take DS to Legoland as a pre-school treat. Last year it was Peppa Pig World. I shall be taking a packed lunch, and gin.

MollyAir · 01/09/2014 19:35

I broke a tooth yesterday and had to have an emergency trip to the dentist, which is absolute hell for a dentaphobe like me. As a reward I trawled all the charity shops in the small Surrey town where my dentist lurks in her mighty web, and came away with loads of swag. She didn't hurt me. Much.

Also glad to hear about your bottom, NU. Grin

NUFC69 · 01/09/2014 19:55

Herbs, good luck with sorting out a new school for DS - just remember that he had a really awful time last year and he deserves better. I understand, though, how difficult it will be if new teacher is great. I will treasure this year before DGS1 starts school next September.

Molly, I hope you have recovered now from the dentist.

Good luck to all DC going back to school and to the youngsters starting university before I get back home. I kept it together whilst I was dropping mine off but bawled in the car when we left them. Sad

bigTillyMint · 01/09/2014 20:01

Herbs, getting that form filled in does NOT mean they will turn against you/mini! And you need to instigate an "it's on the family calendar so I win" rule for going out ASAP!

Molly, sympathies. My teeth are terrible.

Great that it looks like there'll be a few of us for the next MUSmile

Must go and bake a cake.

Blackduck · 01/09/2014 20:03

Bathroom inches closer to completion (but still no bath....). Glass door looks fab though......

cremolafoam · 01/09/2014 20:08

Okay I'm going to book. Sod the leg. I may be limping and swearing a bit( plus ca change) so I will try and stay hobbling distance from coven venue.

NU very glad you got a 'clean sheet' fnar fnar.

Hope the new starts all have a good first day at school..love to
MIDI-CV and Mini-Herbs
Cv the roadworks situation sounds enervating . Why outside the school Ffs? Can they not time it to do it over the summer. ?Duh.

I might buy, loafers. You know with the tassels . Good or bad?

bigTillyMint · 01/09/2014 20:28

Great Cremo!

11th - get it in the diary!
Cremo
BTM
Beachy
CV
Molly
Herbs
Stropps

Rose, would you be able to come as it's a Saturday and we will probs be in Waterloo which is on a tube line at least!

bigTillyMint · 01/09/2014 20:31

Oh and I like loafers!

CointreauVersial · 01/09/2014 21:16

Crem - I dislike loafers almost as much as I dislike brogues, I'm afraid. But that's mainly because I have big, wide feet, so anything too manly in the footwear department makes me look, well, manly.

No, I can't work out why they didn't do the roadworks during the holiday. I notice one of the big holes actually straddles the school driveway. I'm not sure how 300-odd staff are supposed to get in, let alone the pupils (a large proportion of whom are driven to school).

DS and DD1 (with much sniggering) were hatching plans to abandon DD2 in some faraway corner of the school on her first day ("no, honestly, this IS the school hall"). Big meanies.

Molly - small Surrey towns are generally good for charity shops, I find (after much research). It wasn't MY small Surrey town, was it (starts with a D)?

MollyAir · 01/09/2014 21:38

No, CV, this one starts with an F and has a very large roundabout on which people live. (Not a fairground roundabout, although that would be fun.) I travel to see my dentist there because she can handle wimps hysterics anxious patients. Wink

Surrey is vast and full of good charity shops. I dream of taking MI on a comprehensive tour.

addle · 01/09/2014 21:46

Good bottom news NU! enjoy your holiday

Good luck to all those with DCs setting out somewhere new

In French news, thanks v much for advice but ended driving down to Languedoc Roussillon for some sunshine, blooming long way but beautiful and hot and sunny, swam in gorges, lay around and ate loads

Crem - love loafers but can't find ones I really really like

Will try to make it on 11th too.
