Weather update - the sun is out! Fantastic. At least part of the drive will be dry.

Blackduck · 09/08/2014 07:00

A beautiful morning here. Happy and safe traveling monty.
Herbs hope you are okay?!
MI enjoy your free day.

I shall be bike riding with ds and checking out the local gym. (And packing)

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/08/2014 07:55

Here you are, Herbs

OP posts:
Blackduck · 09/08/2014 08:15

Oh so you had it MrsS - wondered where it had gone :)

NUFC69 · 09/08/2014 10:15

It's all quiet from Herbs - not sure if this is a good or bad thing.

I hope the journey is going ok, Monty, and that the sun is still shining? The big yellow globe in the sky has just shown itself here so I think we're going to Beamish with DS and family: I know that it will be colder there because Consett is high up.

Enjoy your ride, BD, I wish that is what I was doing, thing is we have spent a lot of time helping DD and family that we need (and want) to spend time with DS and family and he has asked us several times to go with them to Beamish ....

herbaceous · 09/08/2014 10:34

Gnnnn.... I've got one of those hangovers that just seems to get worse as the day goes on. I suspect because I was still a bit drunk when I woke up.

Other than that, everything is fine! Nothing sinister. The 'irresponsible chat' was just bitching about a mutual friend, so was feeling guilty!

Bon voyages, all those en vacances. We're supposed to be going out later to lovely big park for healthy outdoor pursuits, which I dare say will be good for me. Fear that at the moment I'm over the drink/drive limit!

motherinferior · 09/08/2014 10:58

Ah yes, those hangovers. Wink

BTM, your holiday just gets better and better Envy.

Rosebag · 09/08/2014 12:10

Trying to get flat ship shape to leave for London. Friends renting it in a week or two and I can't have them seeing the state in which we live. Going ever so slightly mad...hands sweating horribly in my Marigolds and sneezing as the shake n vac gets up my nose. Laters crepeys....

bigTillyMint · 09/08/2014 14:43

Woken up at 7 by a large group of enthusiastic Spanish speakers who were then singing Happy Birthday at 7.30am at breakfast in the courtyard. WTF!

bigTillyMint · 09/08/2014 14:46

Herbs, glad to hear it was nothing out of the ordinary serious last night!

Dont envy you Rose!

Hope all holidayers have a good trip and good weatherSmile

motherinferior · 09/08/2014 15:35

Another day, another red lippie.Grin

lalsy · 09/08/2014 15:43

Waaay behind here but great news Rudy, and Crem you too and hope the trip goes well. And BTM am also Envy, the cocktails and courtyards bit sounds wonderful.

Am very cross here, having spent last hour trying to buy a swimsuit that will fit my ample bosom, stay on in surf, and be comfortable in said surf (ie no wiring or flimsy straps). Two years ago, mine fell apart mid swim and dd had to tie me back into it in between whopper waves which kept knocking us both over Blush. Have ordered one from Bravissimo (or am trying to - website stalling) but it was NOT what I wanted. I wanted an elegant black number not a sporty stripes up side schoolgirl swimming gala one.

bigTillyMint · 09/08/2014 16:05

Lalsy, glad your DD was there to save you! Have you tried Rudys recommemdation of figleaves?

Nicaraguan coffee is lovely - not a bit like the stuff we get in England.

lalsy · 09/08/2014 16:11

Thank Tilly, yes - both places sold out of lots of what I want - Figleaves are mostly underwired. Both places stock em but are sold out - so there are other bosomy women out there dont want to be wired up to go in the sea.

Mmmm, I am a coffee fanatic......

bigTillyMint · 09/08/2014 17:05

I didnt think you could get non-underwired ones for ahem, larger cup sizes! DD has a couple of those triangle bikinis but only because we can get them 3 sizes too big and tie them tight IYSWIM! I on the other hand need them 3 sizes tooo small!

Auriga · 09/08/2014 17:43

Wedding was everything you could wish for. Golden sunshine, idyllic Kentish village, ancient church, flower girls doing twirls in pretty dresses, even a little dog in a starched collar and bow tie. Mother of the bride (our friend) gave her daughter away, as her husband's too ill. She was amazingly serene and composed. Afterwards we went to a friend's cottage by the river for nibbles and chat in the garden. Perfect.

motherinferior · 09/08/2014 18:48

Auriga, how lovely.

DD2 has passed grade 4 on both trumpet and sax...but yet again messed up scales and arpeggios on both. I really do not know what to do: she won't listen to me, and her teachers so far are delighted with her for being musical and talented but she needs to put in the graft. I think, anyway.

I suppose in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter but it is maddening.

motherinferior · 09/08/2014 18:48

Lalsy, might be worth checking out Simply Swim?

lalsy · 09/08/2014 19:18

Bingo MI. Smile. Thank you. Just need to choose now.....

Auriga, sounds really really lovely.

motherinferior · 09/08/2014 19:25

They deliver really quickly too.

NUFC69 · 09/08/2014 20:42

The wedding sounds idyllic, Auriga, it must have been lovely.

Congratulations to DD, MI; it is difficult when something comes easily to then persuade DC that yes, they do have to put in the effort as well.

We had a good afternoon at Beamish when we eventually met up with DS and family. He has his phone switched off so that he can monitor calls, but it does make life difficult when I am trying to contact him. The texts he was sending didn't arrive immediately so we ended up trailing round a bit. New GS now weighs 6lb 8oz and feeding every two hours or so - poor DiL.

magimedi · 09/08/2014 21:24

Auriga - a lovely wedding is a thing of joy .

NU - I am so envious of you having a GS, but happy to hear he sounds like he's thriving.

Blackduck · 09/08/2014 21:48

Auriga -sounds fab!

MI - sounds like ds - he coasts through it so doesn't get that he needs to practise - his scales sounded like a cat walking up the piano according to dp - grade 5 I hear sorts out the men from the boys as it were......

bigTillyMint · 09/08/2014 23:00

Auriga the wedding sounds really lovely.

MI well done to your DD. I was so glad when my two gave up music lessons as neither practised at all enough.

Had a good day after DS stopped moaning (dont think he got much sleep as the revellers were apparently revelling at 2 in the morning as well as getting up at 7 to sing happy birthday. DD got her shopping/presents in the market, we had the most delicious street food - just grilled chicken, rice, beans and plantain chips but cooked so fresh, and then went up an active volcano! Best bit was that we went all the way in a cab

NUFC69 · 09/08/2014 23:08

I am disappointed to hear that you're not keeping up with the standard we have come to expect of you, BTM - a taxi to the top of the volcano. I expected you to go up on your hands and knees at the very least, pushing a Brussel sprout with your nose, a la the man who did that for charity this week. Grin

I hope Crepeys who are on holidays have reached their destinations and that the weather is clement.
