Thinking of Christmas, what does one put in teenagers' stockings?

Bloody Christmas. The very thought gets me all aerated, reaching for the Zantac.

Annoying how discombobulating family stuff is, even at our great age. No doubt xmas, and non-appearing sisters, just churns up aged sibling rivalries (me good, her bad, yet still loved, dammit), but even though you know it, it still causes churning.

Maybe I need a spot of CBT too!

beachyhead · 30/08/2014 10:54

Thanks for all your lovely wishes. Grin I got a milk frother for my birthday so we are all scoffing sausage sandwiches and burning our lips on home made latte's.

Back to normal now, but off to Guys and Dolls tonight with ddad and rest of my family. I have a truly lovely sister, who is unfortunately very unwell at the moment with something no one can quite identify. So she has bailed tonight, completely understandably.

Happy party - I've already booked dh's 50th bday treat for next year... He's 5 days older than me Grin

beachyhead · 30/08/2014 10:55

Stockings.... Costa card, socks, fishnet tights, pants, chocolate, bath bombs..... Might add condoms this year Grin but mine is older than yours Grin

motherinferior · 30/08/2014 10:58

Christmas?????

hattymattie · 30/08/2014 11:23

There's a rule in our house - no mention of Christmas until after October half term.

Happy Birthday Beachy - are we allowed to know your treat for DH next year?

Happy Birthday and Birthday Bash BTM.

CV - Love the last supper storySmile.

DD2 has gone to the school to see her class list - very happy as with many of her friends (the French remix classes every year). There are 36 in her classShock.

CointreauVersial · 30/08/2014 11:27

DS's fave stocking fillers last year were a jar of Nutella and a pair of Batman socks. Hmm

Currently "on hold" for Johnny LooLoo customer services (17 minutes and counting). I am waiting home patiently for DD1's new bed to be delivered, but no sign of it, not even a "we're on our way" message, and when I looked, I couldn't find an order confirmation or anything in my emails. Only the entry on the credit card bill gives me any assurance that I didn't imagine the whole order placement. Strange...

CointreauVersial · 30/08/2014 11:32

Ha! Within seconds of posting the last message there was a knock on the door. I knew they wouldn't let me down.... and I'm not going senile after all, not yet at least

BTM - have a fabulous party!

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/08/2014 11:35

Oh yes, CV. Ours always include Tootsie Rolls and a jar of marshmallow fluff or Goober's PB & J (hangover from the days when we used to shop for American non-foods in the PX in Germany).

Stropperella · 30/08/2014 11:56

Nutella and a very large number of the things are now banned in our house as we are "saying no to palm oil". Which turns out to be quite difficult, in fact. Ds had turned into an eco warrior after listening to a impassioned keeper talk at a rather fab little zoo we went to in France.

NUFC69 · 30/08/2014 12:40

I don't think we've ever had Nutella in our house, but was considering it this week when a friend told me that it made a wonderful cheesecake mixed with mascarpone. Stropps what else contains palm oil? I am very impressed, by the way, of your forward planning for Christmas.

We are off in an hour to the football match.

Blackduck · 30/08/2014 12:58

Christmas???!!! Please stop it.....

Here we have realised we failed to order towel rack (not critical) and roll holder (possibly more critical) am an scouring 'tinernet for a. Something we like b. Can be delivered by Monday....
(Bath will be functioning Monday!!!)

All school shopping done - funny how I seem to have paid for all of it Hmm

motherinferior · 30/08/2014 14:06

I am, once again, getting into a silly row on another thread. I am such a numpty.

Palm oil is in many lovely things. I'm the one who watches out for it in our house.

motherinferior · 30/08/2014 14:08

My kids will get Lush stuff in their stockings. Sigh.

hattymattie · 30/08/2014 14:41

We consume gallons of nutella (well not me personally)Blush Blush It is the French way. I did think they had readjusted their recipe and taken out the palm oil. My personal crusade is glucose/fructose which is everywhere.

motherinferior · 30/08/2014 14:59

My kids also consume gallons of the stuff.

hattymattie · 30/08/2014 18:01

Where are you being argumentative MI?

QueenQueenie · 30/08/2014 18:01

I think mine are Nutella addicts. They get withdrawal symptoms if we run out. Oh well I suppose there are worst things to be hooked on.

Kitchen has made sudden progress Grin. We might even be able to use it in the foreseeable future!

Off to see 3 late Beckett plays at the Purcell Room in an hour or so. Could happily stay home with a cup of tea and the sofa...

cremolafoam · 30/08/2014 18:37

Ooh enjoy the Beckett QQ

Do you think this might last dd a term?

NUFC69 · 30/08/2014 18:52

Am Shock at the size of the Nutella and am wondering if they sell it in Costco.
BTM, have a wonderful evening at your party.

We are just back from the match and waiting for dinner to cook which will take about an hour (moussaka). Feeling quite depressed because we drew. I could probably do with something a bit more cultural.

lalsy · 30/08/2014 19:51

Blimey, there are laptops not much bigger (guess what dd and I have just been buying. More gin needed).

hattymattie · 30/08/2014 19:51

Crem - somebody gave us one of those giant jars of nutella for Christmas about two year ago. My three children finished it in a monthBlushBlush Blush Blush

hattymattie · 30/08/2014 19:53

Lalsy if you've just been buying laptops could you let me know which - DD wants to get one on arrival. Also printers!

hattymattie · 30/08/2014 19:54

Dr Who is boring - hence my high profile presence - not what it was in the days of John Pertwee harumph!

lalsy · 30/08/2014 20:00

HM, we got this www.engadget.com/products/lenovo/ideapad/yoga/11s/ reduced as ex display.

I wanted dd to have something pretty light and she wanted something handy for watching tv on Smile. I wanted something a bit cheaper but she leaves home soon.....
