I think it was that anyway.

NUFC69 · 30/08/2014 20:29

Hatty, surely you mean William Hartnell?

hattymattie · 30/08/2014 21:59

Grin Grin

hattymattie · 30/08/2014 22:02

Thanks Lalsy - going to share it with DD to see what she thinks.

MollyAir · 30/08/2014 22:26

(Belatedly) Happy birthday, beachyhead! Hope you're having a great night out. And BTM, hope you're having a fantastic party.

In our house we're not supposed to mention Christmas till after dh's birthday. Which is fecking mid-November. So realistically I start shopping whenever I feel like it. I'm currently bidding on ebay on a small vintage tin with a picture of a French bulldog on it; dd's second choice of favourite dog, after a pug. She is hard to buy for, though.

QueenQueenie · 30/08/2014 22:51

Evening All.

Hope the party is going well BTM and that you are enjoying yourself as well as entertaining others.

Hope you had a fab birthday Beachy. In slightly weird news you were in my dream last night! You'll may be pleased to hear it wasn't as risque as Herbs dream about me - no lesbian action - rather I was introducing you to a whole group of people somewhere at some big function and kept calling you the wrong thing - Jane I think - until you got pretty hacked off...

The Beckett plays were amazing - bleak as hell but amazing. Performed in the Purcell Room by one woman, Lisa Dwan, in complete blackout save for a light on her. In the forst, 'Not I' you can only see her mouth, about 8 foot up in the air.

herbaceous · 30/08/2014 23:04

QQ! My sapphic dream about you had no actual lesbian 'action'. It was all terribly repressed.

And yes - to an ancient post by BTM, the next 'Educating...' series is in a school down the road from us. Quite possibly DS's future secondary school!

CointreauVersial · 30/08/2014 23:12

I can hear thumping music and party sounds from my spot on the sofa.

Is that you, BTM? Turn it down! Wink Grin

beachyhead · 30/08/2014 23:15

Oh I had seen that reviewed, QQ. It looked amazing. We went to Guys and Dolls, which was good, although I'm not really a musical girl.

Best thing was bumping into an old college 'friend' on the way in, the best friend of an ex of mine. His eyes practically fell into his boots when he saw dd1 (who wasn't dressed for the theatre with her family, but wearing platform boots, skinny jeans and a silk camisoleGrin). I am vicariously enjoying the shock value I can no longer create!

I've had a lovely birthday, thanks all. Tomorrow I start sewing on name labels....

cremolafoam · 30/08/2014 23:25

BTM , hope the navy 50s dress is getting some serious boogie action.Grin And that your head isn't too bad tomorrow!

HM & lalsy , if you come across a small compact printer let me know.
Considering purchase of same, to avoid large printing fees at uni.

Dd and dh went to the Asian supermarket today and bought a big bag of rice for £3, a big bag of egg noodles £2 , massive doodah of soy sauce and a giant jar of balti paste. Oh and a wok, which I'm hoping will cover most cooking needs. Lol.
She'll not starve.....

I'm sure they have food in Glasgow , non?Grin

lalsy · 30/08/2014 23:37

We're on the printer trail too....why can't they call these things proper names, like they do for hurricanes, instead of 36yxooonoonaaxp1f? Not sure the things i linked to earlier is what we got - they could go from Adam to to Zoe for each model, so we wouldn't have to pretend we know what a solid state drive is. Mumble mumble.....

Hope you are having wonderful time BTM, and glad you had a great day Beachy. I remember one of the first MN threads I read was a surprisingly bad-tempered one about name tapes.....

QQ, that sounds great.

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/08/2014 00:28

Palm oil
Printers
Parties
Nutella
Woks

And Lesbetarian Inaction. It all goes on here, doesn't it? And none of it Style & Beauty related! Grin

God this jay lag malarkey is total shite. It's 4.20 am. I slept between about 9pm and 2am, that's it!

Cremo commiserations. my DDad is in a similar state although he has had the catheter out. Problem is they can't get the infections under control. And DM is going quite mad as, because of DDads dementia he reuses to go to the loo regularly. Won't get up outof the chair. He's diabetic, so his blood sugar goes all over the place as a result. Pretty bloody awful.

MI'good luck with the visit to DParents.

Hope the birthday girls had a wonderful time...for all I know tilly might still be up partying as I type!

Gosh, it's a bit early for Xmas talk, isn't it? Not that we do Xmas....in the conventional sense.

My kids love Nutella and for that reason we only ever had it on high days and holidays. I could eat it by the spoonful out of the the jar....

Now what are the chances of me getting back to sleep? I'm very awake, need a pee and am hungry Confused

NUFC69 · 31/08/2014 07:24

Crem, Glasgow will introduce Dd to the delights of deep fried Mars bars, so, no, she won't starve!

Thinking about you and your trip to see your DM today, MI. Much strength.

BTM, did the party go well? I hope your head isn't too bad?

Welcome home, Rose, it'll take about a week, I reckon, before you feel ok again.

Blackduck · 31/08/2014 08:23

Welcome home Rose

Nutella staple feature here - had to buy a (small) jar when in Bilbao which was pretty nearly demolished in a week.

QQ good news on kitchen - bathroom should be complete Tuesday. Today I am mostly going to wallow in a friends bath - she is going out and is leaving me a key :)
Sod sewing labels Beachy - I invested in a sharpie and have scrawled ds's name on everything. How long before he loses the bus pass?

motherinferior · 31/08/2014 08:50

I am at the lovely friend's house in Norwich where I spent the night. Meeting DP and the girls at my parents' later and we'll drive home. I rather want to hide here under the duvet permanently, for all sorts of reasons.

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/08/2014 09:27

HOW'S YOUR HEAD THIS MORNING BTM? GrinGrin

OP posts:
Blackduck · 31/08/2014 10:14

You okay MI?

Much strength today - hope it's not too hideous

cremolafoam · 31/08/2014 10:24

Rose - your poor Dad that really can't be easy . My own dad is utterly miserable with the thing but he's going to have to live with it. Sad
Next up is getting the stint into his heart, for which the waiting has become dreadful. It'll be October before he gets that procedureSad and until then he continues to be breathless and wobbly.
Welcome home anyway and hope you get your head down for a few hours today.

QQ have just got a text from a friend offering a ticket for Lisa Dwan who is doing the Beckett trilogy here on tour!
Shall I go? Would you recommend?.

BD I am willing it and have fingers crossed for bathroom completion. Thanks In the meantime.

We have a zillion blackberries , gathered by dd yesterday hereabouts . What shall we make ? Recipes gratefully received.

Off to work now, will report back later

Auriga · 31/08/2014 10:46

DD got through 3 (three, III) normal-sized jars of Nutella in a week in France. One of them in one day, by eating it straight from the jar with a spoon.

Lovely holiday, which sadly ended with gridlock in Calais, hours of anxious queueing, missing the ferry and getting home at 3 am. Still not sure why Hmm. Must try not to let that blot out all the good stuff, like Mont St Michel, Bayeux tapestry, Mont Dol, beach at St Benoît les Ondes.

When we hit Calais we were low on fuel, bordering the red zone on the gauge. Last petrol station in Calais shut. Three hours creeping in queue. First petrol station in Dover shut. The manual says the fuel tank holds approx 49L. DH put 50.5L in it when we finally managed to fill up Shock

Beachy and BTM, hope you had great birthdays. And MI, all the best for today Thanks

Mention of Christmas gives me a shiver of anticipatory dread. Last Christmas was almost perfect but immediately followed by shattering visit from sister, effectively the end of our relationship. No sign of any improvement there. Tempted to go away for Christmas this year Sad

Other sister and family have had good week here, animal and Mum-sitting and entertaining two of their offspring plus friends.

hattymattie · 31/08/2014 10:50

Auriga welcome home. Calais experience sounds dreadful - especially with added stress of low petrol tank.

QueenQueenie · 31/08/2014 10:50

Strength to all dealing with their poor parents' trials and tribulations. I dread mine getting poorly / infirm and needing help as I'm not sure how we'd manage.

MORNING BTM.

Yes Crem, definitely go to see Lisa Dwan! I'll be interested to know what you think. It was memorable - in a good way.

Nothing much planned today... don't want it to become a day of chores and general drudgery so need to think of something to do...

hattymattie · 31/08/2014 10:51

QQ did you get my PM?

hattymattie · 31/08/2014 11:05
