Hi all.. , several of us on S&B have been posting about our clothese spending ( we know thatis what S&B is about [smile}.

We have wardrobes and chest of drawers utterlyand totally rammed...

We have piles of clothese we've even forgotten we have,(some with the lables still on )

We obsessively peruse S&B looking at recommendations (and then buy them, just because there are there)

We have no willpower,(yet Wink)

We are a friend to every online shop and discount offer going..(not to mention credit card companies)

We just cannot resist sales..

Our postmen and women and the local couriers are getting to know us better than our friends and neighbours..

BUT we want toget back into control and just enjoy what we have to wear.

To this end We the Undersigned PLEDGE to a NO spend August on clothes bags, accessories and shoes (and also make up and beauty products if that is your weakness)

The ONLY exceptions will be tights, basic underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinley worn out..

It will be hard .. It will be tough.. We will have to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in? Smile

Sign up below .. (and try and resist spending for the rest of July.. this is NOT atime to stock up before too late!!)..

those who sign up wil be prepared check in here regularily

(A tyrant ain't I? Grin

Yes, lets stop!!!
We can shop again but only now and again. Its not forever...just need to get out of the habit and have it as a treat instead of a must have.
Enjoy your book Laska :)

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 22:15

I will be off to bed with my phone with my other addiction.....pet rescue and farm heroes saga level 89...i just cant get by it!!!!

Saurus72 · 27/07/2014 22:16

I like Cos too - there is a lot that doesn't work at all for me, but the dresses seem to be really working lately, I have bought some lovely ones. So it is strange that I don't just enjoy what I have bought, without thinking 'must buy more'. I have bought list in the sale, most of being things I liked when they were full price but didn't want to so end that much, so I am pleased with it.

My other favourite shops are Toast (sale only), Sweaty Betty (ditto), & Other Stories, Jaeger (outlet stores only), Hobbs, Whistles and The White Company.

I don't really need much for Autumn, apart from a pair of knee boots, some ankle boots and a short coat that I can wear with midi/maxi skirts.

One of the major issues for me is the fact that my wardrobe isn't big enough so it's difficult to see what I have. I really need to take a break from shopping, make good use of what I already have (lovely clothes that I really like!), and stop the insanity for a while.

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 22:20

I dont need anything for Autumn. I have beautiful jumpers, trousers, jeans, coats, jackets, bags...everything a girl could want!! Hell i even have scarves, hats, hundreds of boots ankle, full length, calf, biker. I could do with gloves. I need nothing tbh.

HappyGirlNow · 27/07/2014 22:21

Yes laska I definitely need my payday list... Cos I've seen the stuff now and can't just pretend I haven't.... Grin It's only a few hundred quid then I can just try and not look.. I'm ok as long as I don't look.. Thought that's easier said than done with that blasted internet..damnit...

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 22:21

I need to learn to enjoy the clothes i have..thats what i want to do.

shopalot · 27/07/2014 22:23

I stopped buying cheaper clothes a few years ago and decided to buy quality. So similar shops to you saurus along with Hobbs and a bit of Boden but the problem is I am now doing quality and quantity. I am not in debt but when I think of the money we would have each month to save I am ashamed.

I am self employed and am not paid per month with a standard payday which I think makes it harder. (I know I could "pay myself" monthly but my business just doesn't work like that)

You are really spurring me on-I am really going to do this. Also shopping with three children in two is not easy anyway so that will help.

shopalot · 27/07/2014 22:25

Three children in tow.....honestly I even proof read the post....must be tired!

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 22:27

Well i want to clear some debt but if i stop spending i will be able to do that no problem :)

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 22:34

Plan for tomorrow:
Sort out my wardrobe.
Put things into piles - wear, not worn for a while, give away.
Delete my emails and unsubscribe.

MrsEboJones76 · 27/07/2014 22:38

I'm on first name terms with the delivery man. The woman in the post office sent me a friend request on Facebook. I spend my lunch hours queueing to return stuff.
I shop to fill voids in my life. For a high. A boost.
I need to stop.
I will be away for the first 2 weeks of August so maybe a good month to ease myself in gently.
How does project 333 work?

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 22:42

I think i do it to fill voids! ...not really sure what they are mind you...

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 22:44

Sounds interesting so i googled it...this is what i found:

PrimalLass · 27/07/2014 22:44

Before I even saw this thread I realised this morning that I have five pairs of brand new boots for the A/W. All very bargainous, but that's not the point. I really need to lose weight and not buy any more until I am a proper size 12.

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 22:44

Im off to bed now...fresh non-shopping start tomorrow!! I know what i have to do Grin

Itscurtainsforyou · 27/07/2014 23:05

Project 333 is great! It's choosing 33 items of clothes (not including underwear, gym gear, nightwear, slobbing-around-the-house wear) and wearing only them for 3 months.

I thought it would be really difficult, but so far it's OK. Ultimately it makes me stop before buying and think about what I need, what will fit with my wardrobe and I have to be really sure that I'll get plenty of wear out of it to justify buying anything.

ThisBitchIsResting · 27/07/2014 23:33

I'm in too. I've been shopping a huge amount recently and can't really sustain it - meant to be saving.

I need to unsubscribe from NaP, Outnet, Hush, River Island, Asos, Matches and probably some others, and stop reading fashion mags.

I have loads of lovely clothes but never have anything to wear! And every purchase feels like that missing jigsaw piece that will perfect my wardrobe. Must stop and breathe and enjoy the clothes I have.

I'd like to get some shoe plastic boxes, and some sort of jewellery and handbags organisation. If all my clothes and accessories are beautifully laid out and organised, hopefully I will enjoy them more.

Found you! Good to see there area few of is to spur us all on.

I did a cull of my wardrobes and drawers yesterday. 4 bags for charity, 23 items listed on eBay last night (mainly good nick White stuff, Boden and Joules stuff) that will hopefully get me back a bit if cash. Also sat and Music Magpied DVDs and CDs that me and DH don't want. That was soul destroying as you only get approx 15-25 pence per item. Still, that's netted me £42. Better than a slap in the face with a wet fish.

So my drawers now shut properly without having to ram stuff in and of course I came across things I had forgotten about so mixture of "oh great" and then guilt for having so much stuff that I had forgotten about it.

I did pop out and get a new bra yesterday as I really did need that but found myself in TK Maxx and bought a scarf and some shoes for DD1. Scarves are my weakness as I tend to justify them as "my thing" and don't tend to be overly expensive. The one I got orig retailed at £89 and I got it for £13 (a Rose and Rose one - divine). I DO wear scarves a lot but still, I didn't need it. I just do not need to go into shops full stop. I've also started unsubscribing from online shop emails which helps a lot already. Unaware of any sales/30% off deals, so not tempted.

Even my dds need nowt. Dd1 starts school in Aug so that's her wardrobe cut in half already as she won't need as much casual stuff as before. And dd2 gets most of dd1s cast offs, plus the pair of them get a few nice bits from the GPs (they are the only 2 GC so get spoilt!) every now and again. I get aloof pleasure buying for Dds too though, the same as I get when I buy. But the guilt is also the same.

Anyway, the only necessary purchase needed the next few weeks is a plain navy waterproof jacket for dd1 for school. I'm just looking on Amazon or Trespass outlet or similar.

And then that is it!

Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2014 07:56

Think I will report in regularly on my progress starting from August 1st. I wonder if we could create a kind of helpful mantra that we could say incase we get sucked in. Something like STOP, think, will buying this change my life....or whatever. Any ideas?

shopalot · 28/07/2014 08:09

"And every purchase feels like the missing piece that will perfect my wardrobe..........."..so true TBIR, I totally agree and could have written that!

I have bought a few pairs of tummy control pants...but i really 'needed' them in fact i kind of need pants in general. I have some grubby old prepregnancy pants that i am still wearing and my bras are all over the place size wise so am trying to sort his out...but thats it. That is my confession for today. I do feel it is justified.

Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2014 09:04

Sleepy fergus i am so envious impressed with you..i have to say. The sheer scale of my sorting is off putting. I have so many pairs of designer jeans and just jeans in general that i dont know where to start!!

CoconutAmericano · 28/07/2014 09:42

Im back! Ive only quickly browsed the Cos website once this morning. That is good for me! And i unsubscribed from Toast a few mins ago. That's one less temptation.

Today i plan to be out doors a fair bit. Tonight i am ironing all our clothes and then giving my feet a pedicure. Basically keeping myself off the ipad, the source of all my overspending!!

Last night i read in bed for an hour. That was a good move. Distracting.

Good luck resisting temptation today ladies, be that browsing online, or perusing the high street on one's lunch break!

Oh and a mantra is a great idea! Im just not witty enough to come up with one..
