Hi all.. , several of us on S&B have been posting about our clothese spending ( we know thatis what S&B is about [smile}.

We have wardrobes and chest of drawers utterlyand totally rammed...

We have piles of clothese we've even forgotten we have,(some with the lables still on )

We obsessively peruse S&B looking at recommendations (and then buy them, just because there are there)

We have no willpower,(yet Wink)

We are a friend to every online shop and discount offer going..(not to mention credit card companies)

We just cannot resist sales..

Our postmen and women and the local couriers are getting to know us better than our friends and neighbours..

BUT we want toget back into control and just enjoy what we have to wear.

To this end We the Undersigned PLEDGE to a NO spend August on clothes bags, accessories and shoes (and also make up and beauty products if that is your weakness)

The ONLY exceptions will be tights, basic underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinley worn out..

It will be hard .. It will be tough.. We will have to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in? Smile

Sign up below .. (and try and resist spending for the rest of July.. this is NOT atime to stock up before too late!!)..

those who sign up wil be prepared check in here regularily

(A tyrant ain't I? Grin

So I think I've done quite well, I only bought the white stuff skirt which I declared up thread as it was one I'd seen at full price and liked and I'd lots to go with it, bought it for my holiday.

I am having a SHIT time of it at the moment, mums beenin intensive care for almost a week and I am itching to get on the Internet and buy myself something to cheer myself up. But, I am applying the same logic as when I gave up some smoking, the problem/situation will still be there and spending or smoking ain't gonna make it any different so I am resisting, for now Smile

As for carrying on into September, I've decided to wait, get all my autumn/winter stuff out and see what gaps I've got. I bought a few boden 'bargains' at their 80% off sale last winter which I never wore as I didn't have any tops to go with the skirts or trousers I bought. So I will shop but it'll be in a more structured fashion. am I trying to convince you lot or myself?!

PeachandBlack · 26/08/2014 08:48

I've not bought anything. I would like to hold out until September payday but will probably have to get some jeans as I only have one pair that are a good fit.

HalleLouja · 26/08/2014 10:32

Sorry to hear that Spring fingers crossed she is ok.

SpringItOn · 26/08/2014 22:17

Thanks HalleLouja she's getting there slowly.

Hmmmm - I've had a bit of a mixed bag. The 3 Blush things I bought since my first post on here: I have sent them all back. So that's positive. I just impulse bought a few things from asos today, on the basis that I can send them back as well Hmm

I think the key for me to managing September will be to ban myself from the internet!!

MrPop · 28/08/2014 17:13

Spring sorry meant to say hope your mum has a speedy return to health.

Laska42 · 28/08/2014 18:43

springiton poor you, poor your mum.. I hope she is better soon.. look after yourself..

I went to Clarks yesterday (luckily it was jammed full for mums buying school shoes so i couldnt have got served anyway ) to look at black flats.. Picked up shoe then hen I rememberd that I had some very similar (and expensive) Jones the Bootmaker ones I bought last year still in their box in the wardrobe ... I wore them to work today !

So shall ill start a new September thread on Sunday then? (unless anyone else wants to?)

What do you all want on it , no spend and budget pledges?

Greengardenpixie · 28/08/2014 18:52

Yes that sounds good :)
Got my white stuff catalogue through with 15% on it. Might get something later on with it..in my budget but not now. Did buy a fatface dress but im returning it tomorrow. I dont like the fit of it tbh.

CoconutAmericano · 28/08/2014 19:03

Yes laska im another who would like a September thread. I have been really good the last two weeks. Nothing at all bought dince my hils so very proud of myself Smile

spring i hope your mum is on the mend. I understand about the emotional aspect of shopping. I call it comfort shopping, but really the comfort is only a temporary feeling Sad

CoconutAmericano · 28/08/2014 19:03

Oh god, since my hols. I really need to proof read my posts Blush

CoconutAmericano · 28/08/2014 19:09

Ive realised my weakness is the sales, in particularly the cos sale, the hof sale, john lewis sale.. I would go online every evening, dh in work and kiddies in bed, and get a buzz out of finding some bargains (and some items really were bargainous) .

Since the sales have ended i have completely lost interest. I have begun putting 1 and 2 euro coins into one of those piggy banks that you have to open with a tin opener for when the january sales kick in. So basically next big sale season i will have a full piggy bank of money i can blow, guilt free.

Greengardenpixie · 28/08/2014 19:11

well done coconut!!! I like the sales but will buy anytime!..sadly!!! Its good you have tuned in to what makes you spend :)

Apatite1 · 28/08/2014 21:55

I have succumbed to some Becksondergaard scarves on sale and bought three. I seek your forgiveness O thread.

SludgeBrown · 28/08/2014 22:05

I'm still zero purchases. Not even a lipstick. Transformed woman!

MrPop · 29/08/2014 08:22

Ah Sludge that's great!

Laska I would be interested in a September thread, thanks for offering to set one off again.

I am also a sales shopper Coconut - all these 'add an extra 10% off' make my will power crumble.

At the moment I am pinned new season stuff I like to see how reduced it is in the Christmas sales.

Inspired by this thread, am planning to ebay quite a few things next month.

PeachandBlack · 30/08/2014 09:55

Well, I managed 28 days but cracked yesterday. To be fair, it was stuff I had planned to buy anyway but I was going past a large H&M and it seemed silly to go through the palavar of ordering online when I could try on there and then.

I do need to get some jeans but hoping for a minimal spend in September.

Pollywallywinkles · 30/08/2014 17:50

We'll done to those of you who have managed to stick to no spending.

Karbea · 30/08/2014 18:27

Still not purchased anything!

MrPop · 30/08/2014 19:44

Well am not doing great atm but pretty determined to do a no spend September! It is the dregs of the sales that are doing me in.

Pollywallywinkles · 30/08/2014 22:34

I had a bit of a splurge today, but as I was on a stop spend between pay days it was ok.

So I failed right at the start on autumn clothing and had a slight relapse with sports wear which was half price and its a new sport to me, so I do need kit...trying to justify that one!

I'm on holiday later this month, but after that I'm going to attempt a no spend for a couple of months other than the bare essentials if I've not bought them once my holiday is over.

Other than underwear, I don't need anything else this year, unless we have a hideous winter and a long, warm, waterproof coat is required.

cardigal · 31/08/2014 09:07

Count me in for September with one proviso - QVC have an Elemis special on September 7th and it's the most economical way to buy it!

KiaOraOAotearoa · 31/08/2014 09:50

Hello. Day 31 of the challenge. Thank you laska for the prompting. I found I extended the no buying clothes challenge to no new make up/moisturisers/expensive but rubbish stuff.
So, all in all I have saved £475 in August. Rather than just buying it, I took the money out and put them in the back of my diary. I could have done with some clothes, seriously, I have gained another extra half stone, all I had this summer was a linen pair of trousers, one linen skirt and 3 dresses (the 3rd one is very thick cotton, couldn't wear it most days) and a couple of tops. I was also tempted by a new pair of running shoes, but didn't buy them, because it was August challenge.

Anyway, as a result, I have enough money saved that I won't miss for some running shoes, one dress or two and a skirt. To fit my ever expanding deriere. As it is.

littlewhitebag · 31/08/2014 10:54

I have just found this thread but I am in for a September thread. My job situation is looking rocky. I need to tighten my belt. This thread may help me!

Laska42 · 31/08/2014 17:41
