Hi all.. , several of us on S&B have been posting about our clothese spending ( we know thatis what S&B is about [smile}.

We have wardrobes and chest of drawers utterlyand totally rammed...

We have piles of clothese we've even forgotten we have,(some with the lables still on )

We obsessively peruse S&B looking at recommendations (and then buy them, just because there are there)

We have no willpower,(yet Wink)

We are a friend to every online shop and discount offer going..(not to mention credit card companies)

We just cannot resist sales..

Our postmen and women and the local couriers are getting to know us better than our friends and neighbours..

BUT we want toget back into control and just enjoy what we have to wear.

To this end We the Undersigned PLEDGE to a NO spend August on clothes bags, accessories and shoes (and also make up and beauty products if that is your weakness)

The ONLY exceptions will be tights, basic underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinley worn out..

It will be hard .. It will be tough.. We will have to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in? Smile

Sign up below .. (and try and resist spending for the rest of July.. this is NOT atime to stock up before too late!!)..

those who sign up wil be prepared check in here regularily

(A tyrant ain't I? Grin

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 20:16

hee hee laska..you have it all worked out!!! My dh does the food shopping and since its me that usually gets it, he never asks me for the money back either!!

Flipflops7 · 27/07/2014 20:16

OK, I'm in :)

boodles · 27/07/2014 20:20

Me please, with a big emphasis on handbags (totally embarrassed to admit to how many I have bought recently)

Misssss · 27/07/2014 20:21

I've found my people! My friends think it's bizarre that I know the names of the staff at the local sorting office! Thanks I need the toiletries. Clothes no no no! I'm going to try and flog some of the excess ones on Facebook selling pages. I'm plus sized and there are a few pages for buying and selling.

Saurus72 · 27/07/2014 20:22

I'm definitely in for clothes, shoes, make-up and jewellery. I was only saying to DH yesterday that I need to cut myself off from spending. However, I'm not guaranteeing I won't buy a handbag - am going on holiday and am hoping to buy a Le Pliage backpack at the airport tax free. Nothing else though.

Brilliant idea for this thread Laska Grin

Pollywallywinkles · 27/07/2014 20:22

I'm in too. I have been relatively good this month then had a bit of a splurge on some sale items; two work dresses, a top, a scarf and a pair of sandals.

WhereAreMyGlasses · 27/07/2014 20:27

I pledge to buy no more clothes for August! I see wandering round the shops as a hobby but need to stop buying things and clear out instead!

This month I hope to sell/charity shop/bin as much as I normally get

WhereAreMyGlasses · 27/07/2014 20:27

Oh and then from then on it's one in one out

CoconutAmericano · 27/07/2014 20:43

You're all so honest with your other halves. My dh doesn't know the half of it Blush. One of my hangers snapped under the strain of the many many pairs of jeans yesterday. So i culled about 5/6 pairs i no longer wear to put in a charity bag and i still have at least 12/15 pairs on the go. Oh the shame. This has to stop Angry

CoconutAmericano · 27/07/2014 20:45

Oh and i've another pair and a pair of trousers winging their way to me. It's like my dirty little secret Blush.

SpringItOn · 27/07/2014 20:51

I always try and time my orders so I'm here and DH isn't. Then he always ends up changing his working pattern, and works from home the day the delivery arrives. Blush

BestIsWest · 27/07/2014 20:59

I'm in. So tempted by the all the sales but on a serious mission to lose weight so I!m determined not to buy anything this summer.

Apatite1 · 27/07/2014 21:06

I'm in. I've just counted 8 boxes of new clothes, which I haven't unpacked because I have no wardrobe space. What the hell??

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 21:14

Its refreshing for me to here that its not just me!
I time my parcels to come when my dh is out. Some obviously come when he is in but most dont thank god or he would really get on at me.

Laska42 · 27/07/2014 21:17

Welcome everyone.. we can be resolute together (and if i can keep this up for a couple of months I might even be able to pay of my credit card .. its not that bad , but i'd like not to have the debt..)

Now what am I going to do lunchtime if I cant mooch up the high street or on the internet? (I shall have definately have to give up moseying around TKMaxx..Of course I only ever go in just to see what there is dont you know ) .. Perhaps I'll have to go for a fast walk instead. There are river walks and a few hills I can yomp up .. Maybe.. ill get fitter even ...

OP posts:
Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 21:20

What about reading? A good book? or gossiping!!! I cant go on the internet to do shopping and only get 45 minutes for my lunch so when i work its the best thing as i dont spend. I am a teacher and i am currently off work hence why i am at my worst. A lovely walk would be good for you too!!

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 21:22

I need to rekindle my hobbies:

drawing, writing, ...and maybe reading although sometimes for me, reading seems too much like hard work!! certainly i could do with exercise.

Karbea · 27/07/2014 21:22

I'm totally in, I've no money at the moment!

CoconutAmericano · 27/07/2014 21:29

I'm on my own here in the evenings while the kiddies are in bed and dh works shifts. I think it's partly boredom that i browse trawl online shops and i suppose it gives me a buzz in an otherwise fairly mundane life at the mo ( young kiddies and sahm). God who needs a therapist?!

I took a book out of the library on Friday (Fashion For Dummies- of course, ha!). I think i'll take it to bed rather than my ipad tonight. And really try to avoid browsing online. That part will take willpower though, which I am seriously lacking. But i will post here if i am struggling to resist the "buy now" button. So for me it's not actual shops i've to avoid, it's online websites.
