Hi all.. , several of us on S&B have been posting about our clothese spending ( we know thatis what S&B is about [smile}.

We have wardrobes and chest of drawers utterlyand totally rammed...

We have piles of clothese we've even forgotten we have,(some with the lables still on )

We obsessively peruse S&B looking at recommendations (and then buy them, just because there are there)

We have no willpower,(yet Wink)

We are a friend to every online shop and discount offer going..(not to mention credit card companies)

We just cannot resist sales..

Our postmen and women and the local couriers are getting to know us better than our friends and neighbours..

BUT we want toget back into control and just enjoy what we have to wear.

To this end We the Undersigned PLEDGE to a NO spend August on clothes bags, accessories and shoes (and also make up and beauty products if that is your weakness)

The ONLY exceptions will be tights, basic underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinley worn out..

It will be hard .. It will be tough.. We will have to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in? Smile

Sign up below .. (and try and resist spending for the rest of July.. this is NOT atime to stock up before too late!!)..

those who sign up wil be prepared check in here regularily

(A tyrant ain't I? Grin

We all have it bad.. coconut and thats why we need each other to be accountable ..

Sadly I cant think of a mantra either... apart from 'Stop being a total Berk, Laska!'

ha ha ha...laska!
Well i too have a confession £28 on a pair of er tapered jersey trousers. I already have two pairs but i had my eye on this print and dammit it was in stock in a 12 ggrr!! Your right coconut..not August yet but still its not a good start is it???
I go to cognitive behaviour therapy for anxiety issues caused by my old job...never broached the shopaholic side of me to the lady. Think i may and see what she suggests for me :(

On a plus i sorted and got rid of clothes and have a large ebay pile
now to list and post

SpringItOn · 28/07/2014 18:47

Well I'd already ordered a top in the Boden sale last week which came today and it's too big so I've ordered it in a smaller size so I can compare.

It doesn't count as a purchase though, honest! I saw the courier pull up, DH was working in the kitchen so I quickly opened the front door before the courier had chance to ring the bell [lush]

SpringItOn · 28/07/2014 18:48

Lush indeed! Blush

Laska42 · 28/07/2014 18:56

Someone please invite me to a garden party or something? .. I can wear my chiffon dress with the suede fringed jacket on top .. and ill try onto get pissed, fall over my Kurt Geiger heels and look more of a berk than I am Wink

OP posts:
Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2014 19:09

ha ha....
Clearly i dont have clothes for the garden parties you are accustomed to! i dont own either a chiffon dress or a pair of kurt Geiger either. The best i can do is fly london!!..actually now thats not true i have a pair of Gabor...beautiful red nubuck - got last year and they are gorgeous. Not frumpy, beautiful wedge. I forget i have them!!
Did you do well today laska?

peasandlove · 28/07/2014 19:18

You guys need to channel this energy into saving the money. Set yourself a goal for august, about what you think you've spent in July and save it. Say 500 pounds?

Laska42 · 28/07/2014 19:18

I've never actually been to a 'proper' garden party but if i was to, i'd go as Kate Moss!!. and of course i really do look a lot like her Obviously it wouldnt be one of those like wot Her Mag has! .. I was thinking more floating around like a lovely young thing on the terrace with champers inthe evening (hence the need for a edgy jacket to drape over the shoulders later on) .. and perhaps with Alan Rickman or Daniel Craig in tow Grin.. Hell, I should get a life!

Not really good sadly ... replacement linen trousers - see above..
and you ?

Laska42 · 28/07/2014 19:19

.. I want to do £500 off my creedit card peas .. infact ive set up the DD already ..

OP posts:
Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2014 19:42

Well...i bought a pair of tapered trousers £28...not replacement..additional. I am a sap for prints and they are so comfy. I already have two pairs.
wow £500..impressive. I dont think i could do that amount. I dont work full time and the kids are always needing things. I dont have a credit card..but i do have a Next account and thats worse! Want to clear that off and that will be me happy :)

Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2014 19:49

laska..just read your previous thread which was on the other page!! Yeh.. when i spend i think i am in the fantasy world of the 'Toast' movie clips!!lol...the reality is i am 46 and married with lots of children and also on a teachers part time wage.. it isnt that much. My dh isnt rich...and noone will leave me a fat inheritance either!! So wtf am i doing???

Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2014 19:52

6 children altogether but only 3 at home. I am not a grandma yet but with my boys i doubt that will happen anytime soon!!

Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2014 19:54

...oh and im so jealous of your gorgeous fringed jacket..yum!!! The weather and price would have put me off that. Suede is not good in the rain. I loved the kate moss wide legs and some of the kaftans were gorgeous. I wasnt in time to buy any of the things!!

Laska42 · 28/07/2014 20:04

.. £500 may be a bit ambitious but I dont have kids at home ..

Luckily our freezer is also rammed - due to my other fetish (reduced for quick sale meat bargains! )so i need to cut back on that also and we have lots of garden veg right now ..but if i pay it off on payday and end up only putting back £200 (for food or petrol) .. its a start.. its the doing it..

I have one DS and 1 DSD both over 25.. 1 DGS (18months) and one GC on the way .. (and a cat)

I havent seen movies on Toast , not looked at the Cos site.. I wont look .

I also buy for my alternative life, I think its all the online stuff that does it. I've always loved buying stuff but at least when I was young it was restricted to Saturday afternoon round the shops.

I feel quite embarrassed about it as I'm 56, not some young fashionable thing. I can remember my mother at my age, there is no way she would have wasted money and space like I do. DH said "there must be an age when you have enough and stop buying stuff' Blush

The thing is it's not restricted to clothes, its house stuff also.

It must stop!!

Laska42 · 28/07/2014 20:10

Dont be , ive not even worn it yet (except to twirl around in front of DH and friends.. )
Yup the rain, its alovely soft tan suede and its not at all practical (I forgot I live in Britain and dont jet-set) Berk.

But I wanted the Ibiza kaftan so much i was online by 5.30 am the day it all came out (and thenin the excitement I went a bit mad) Blush.. Ive wore the kaftan on holiday though and its a classic..

But that was the old (berky) Laska .. No more!! (it will be no more.. it will.. )

Half the me&em sale stock arrived today, and with that I am done till september. They all fit and look amazing and I just did a little 'casual safari dress' number on a visit, felt efortlessly chic and smug with my 70% off.
I was very good and returned a pair of wedges after realising I have an exact pair in the cupboard already, just forgot about them!!
Hey ho!

DidoTheDodo · 28/07/2014 20:39

Ah laska, I too am a 56year old granny with delusions of youth. I don'tknow what to buy that suits my figure and age, so buy lots of stuff in the hope some of it hits the mark.
I never seem to get it right, despite a wardrobe packed to the gunnels.I feel a cull coming on.

Apatite1 · 28/07/2014 20:46

In the interest of full disclosure I should confess to buying a Coach handbag last Tuesday. I fell in love with the colour. That's the last thing I bought and I'm now abstaining until the winter sales. Yes I am, yes I am, yes I am......

Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2014 21:06

Oooh i had my eye on Me & em trousers..think they were italian gorgeous black ones. Remind me of a lovely isabella oliver maternity pair i had that just fell beautifully and i wore forever [ most unlike me]
None of my clothes get worn out now!

Saurus72 · 28/07/2014 21:08

I'm not starting til August - I have a Sweaty Betty and a Toast archive sale order to arrive in the next day or two. I'm definitely committing to August though, and only buying what I need (ankle boots, knee boots, winter coat) in September/October.

I was proud of myself as had to go into a shopping centre which has a M&S, Massive Next and Tesco and I came home with nothing at all for me. I bought the food and the birthday present and stayed strong and wasn't tempted by the bargains or the new winter stuff.........Grin

CoconutAmericano · 28/07/2014 22:22

Well done shopalot. Loving your username btw, very apt Grin

carlywurly · 28/07/2014 22:24

I'm in. I've already started culling - one day I looked at the excess and it made me feel a bit sick. Three months on and it all feels better. I just have too many similar things.

I've sold a load on ebay and the local hospice shop emailed yesterday to say that my recent donations had raised over £150 Smile so that's a reason to keep chucking.

I'm definitely adopting the one in, one out policy.
