Hi all.. , several of us on S&B have been posting about our clothese spending ( we know thatis what S&B is about [smile}.

We have wardrobes and chest of drawers utterlyand totally rammed...

We have piles of clothese we've even forgotten we have,(some with the lables still on )

We obsessively peruse S&B looking at recommendations (and then buy them, just because there are there)

We have no willpower,(yet Wink)

We are a friend to every online shop and discount offer going..(not to mention credit card companies)

We just cannot resist sales..

Our postmen and women and the local couriers are getting to know us better than our friends and neighbours..

BUT we want toget back into control and just enjoy what we have to wear.

To this end We the Undersigned PLEDGE to a NO spend August on clothes bags, accessories and shoes (and also make up and beauty products if that is your weakness)

The ONLY exceptions will be tights, basic underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinley worn out..

It will be hard .. It will be tough.. We will have to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in? Smile

Sign up below .. (and try and resist spending for the rest of July.. this is NOT atime to stock up before too late!!)..

those who sign up wil be prepared check in here regularily

(A tyrant ain't I? Grin

I am in! I hardly have any clothes because if weight gain, I went up a size.
Given that I bought quite a bit this month, I pledge not to spend a penny on clothes, shoes or cosmetics.
Instead, I shall save £300 towards Christmas. There, I said it.

BaconAndAvocado · 27/07/2014 21:38

Fab thread!

I recently vowed to do a 1 YEAR clothes-buying fast. Yes, 1 YEAR!

So far I've managed 3 weeks.............

Laska42 · 27/07/2014 21:40

My job is in an office, so I do need to get away from the screen at lunchtimes and get some air .. also I dont want to start another spending habit (Amazon is bad enough).... I love reading so not giving up my kindle books Grin.. Luckily its a small market town, so I can be out on a wooded path in 10 mins .. I used to do this a lot with a friend before she retired - 45 mins fast walk sun or rain (we were both keen to lose weight). Kept us both away from the shops.. Perhaps I can enlist another like minded workmate ..

bacon Impressed that you committed for a year.. thats what id like to do ideally, but im taking baby steps.. ive never managed one month yet or probably even two weeks if you count charity shop buying (unless ive been on holiday ..)

coconut its only really online with me too. I have little ones and im off 4 days work 3 and find the days im off im inclined to spend as i dont do much with my time except go online and browse. Before i know it, im debating which dress to buy or colour.. its just too easy. If it werent for online i wouldnt have the opportunity to spend really as apart from supermarket shopping i am never in town.

PrimalLass · 27/07/2014 21:47

I'm in - with one exception. I need something to wear for a night out on the 16th. But nothing else Grin

Laska42 · 27/07/2014 21:49

Online shopping is the devil.. (except Waitrose delivery .. ok thats the devil also)..

Goodbye House of Fraser (sob). My nearest 'real' one is 2hrs away .. oh and John Lewis (double sob).. again miles away..

You're right green it's just too too easy Sad. We need alternatives! I think i will spend more time out with the kids tomorrow day time and tomorrow evening i will do all my ironing. That will keep my hands busy Smile
Well done bacon on lasting three weeks. I'm going hour by hour!!

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 21:54

Well my places to shop are:
Toast [ only in the sale and rarely at full price]
Saltwater [ they seem to have gone into liquidation sadly]
White stuff [ i love prints - skirts, tops ]
Joules [on occasion]
Seasalt [but this summer the stuff was frumpy so didnt buy, not even in the sale]
Ebay [ some great bargains of all of the above!!]
Amazon [ shoes, sandals, boots]
Next [ i have a directory account that i need to reduce]
Topshop[ very rarely but some occasional pieces]
Matalan [ for basics ]
These shops are all my spending habits :(

shopalot · 27/07/2014 21:56

I'm in (but I don't think I can do it.......Hmm which is not the best start. My problem is online. What I do is buy a few things to try on and then send them all back but one so am I denial that I have bought anything. I also find it hard to resist a bargain.

I do wear all my purchases and I have nothing with labels still on-so not too bad?!? She says.....

HappyGirlNow · 27/07/2014 21:56

CoconutAmericano · 27/07/2014 21:59

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 22:03

CoconutAmericano · 27/07/2014 22:04

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 22:05

mmmm..some lovely things on there...but i will abstain!! OMG some of the dresses are gorgeous!! Dont look laskaShock

Laska42 · 27/07/2014 22:06

shopalot probably all of us are .. we will hand hold take courage..

happgirlnow Hmm do you really need your payday list?
I'm being mean and tough, because we all feel a bit like this. i've put off stopping spending this year over and over because i've 'needed' something.. Only look at the previous thread linked above and you'll see that since I started posting about 2/3 weeks ago ive bought several things 3 sale dresses,, a skirt a cardigan ,and 2 tops Blush. Which is why I need to stop. Now.

.. Anyway Aug 2nd start it is (if you really cant do without them) but then you'll have to be good if you do want to change..
