Ooops, sorry, I didn't mean to finish the thread.

OP posts:
QueenQueenie · 21/07/2014 09:32

I see that as a crepey challenge Mrs S...

He has:
booked himself an expensive trip connected with some obscure hobby?

bought a vintage 2 seater car?

booked himself in for cosmetic surgery?

bought himself a new designer wardrobe?

joined the Scientologists and agreed to give them 10% of his income?

If it makes you feel better dh once bought a flat without even mentioning it to me!

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2014 09:35

QQShock @ bought a flat!

QueenQueenie · 21/07/2014 09:38

Can you imagine my face when he casually mentioned it?
Shock Angry ShockAngry Shock Angry
It was about 20 years ago but I don't think he'll be doing that again in a hurry...

motherinferior · 21/07/2014 09:41

In times of trial - often trials induced by lack of cash - Mr Inferior goes out and buys a new car. And/or spends money on something else.

I slightly wish he liked exotic holidays or travelling, as then I could just allege he booked it and I am being helplessly swept away. However, he's not great on travelling - even worse than I am - for reasons which are fairly obvious if you take into account his somewhat turbulent childhood.

Rosebag · 21/07/2014 10:03

CV Great re DD's party and you're not old fashioned about expecting basic politeness and manners for replies to invites. Sadly, the children whose parents can't be arsed to reply will grow up just the same!
Beachy glad hols were good!
I send tissues to the Crepeys facing school leavers blub tests…you soppy lot.
MI glad you're back in one piece despite the awful traffic on the way home. You deserve a medal!
Grin at QQ's guesses about MrsS's DH's ill fated spending spree. Has he gambled away next month's mortgage instalment on an online poker site? No, actually, my money's on QQ's mid life crisis car…

I am deathly tired after another boiling night chez Rosebags. Had some awful dreams about DDad…being moved to a high security dementia ward and then being asked to leave a maths class where he was volunteering to help secondary school students on account of his growing confusion. It's playing on my mind horribly and I rarely remember my dreams. But this was vivid.

DS2 iMessaged late last night to say he's lost one of his Caxton Cards (pay as you go debit card, for trips abroad) and we needed to have it cancelled, and check the balance in case it had been used. (No chip and pin where he is). What a fuss….then I realised he's 2 hours ahead and it was nearly 1am where he is… Shock They never sleep, these teens…

Am rushing to finish some reports…(makes me feel valuable…like I've actually got some work) for the theatre, and then meeting with pianist from choir about planning for next term. Not looking forward…we don't actually get on very well… Hmm And now DD's nagging to go to Matalan (long drive). I feel a headache coming on. Oh and MI I also feel awful about my appearance and lack of work…shit actually. You are not alone but I'm loads worse than you, honest.

Looking forward to Sussex for 2 weeks from Sat Smile

motherinferior · 21/07/2014 10:43

I had a set of most peculiar dreams. Not even entertaining ones. I think they had classic things like babies that someone has left somewhere. Woke up in small hours, thinking 'oh well thank heavens tomorrow is Sunday' and realised it wasn't. Then woke up at 6am with demented insight into book chapter, only to realise it wasn't...

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2014 10:53

I am having a lot of unsettling dreams too - I think it's the weather/temp at night. Mine seem to centre around my anxieties about the DC, mainly DDConfused

motherinferior · 21/07/2014 11:20

Wossup, BTM?

Blackduck · 21/07/2014 11:51

A flat QQ!! Did he forget or something?

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2014 11:54

Oh nothing in particular ATM I'm just a worrierGrin

I never used to be when the DC were smallerHmm I think it's because I can't make sure they are safe and happy and doing the right thing all the time now.

CointreauVersial · 21/07/2014 16:47

"The Cat Shat On The Mat." Kind of poetic, isn't it?

Come on, MrsS, we need to know what he has spent your money on.

DSDad has form for buying cars and not telling DM. Usually some sort of classic rust bucket which rarely, if ever, actually makes it onto the road (I think the current one is some sort of MG). He is hopelessly impractical, so just polishes said vehicle, and occasionally lifts the bonnet and gazes at the engine.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2014 19:08

I will tell you on Friday if you are still interested. (QQ, three is closest but not quite so drastic botox would have been cheaper)

I bought a flat without telling DH. He saw it the day before we completed. He was a bit shocked, but got over it quite quickly (particularly as I told him I was pregnant with DD2 at the same time).

Apparently I was on tonight's BBC news in the background.

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2014 19:10

Ooh MrsS, what was the story - will try to stay awake and watch out for you at 10!

DD has her mates round. They are all sleepingGrin

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2014 19:46

I have no idea. I was going into work late and they were filming something.

QueenQueenie · 21/07/2014 19:51

Ooooh, honing my forensic skills here.... my money says he's doing a Martin Amis and spending a gazillion pounds on (not strictly necessary) cosmetic dentistry - whitening, replacement of metal fillings with white one, veneers, etc.

The work on our kitchen started today... they've smashed what was there to smithereens and gone home. I'm fed up with it all already which doesn't bode well. On the up side we're just going out for some supper - as we have no kitchen. Result.

Auriga · 21/07/2014 19:57

Rosebag and MI, sympathies re: bad dreams, they sound awful. And feeling bad generally. But don't say things to yourselves that you wouldn't want anyone to say to your daughters.

Day started with migraine again. Managed to clobber it with shed loads of pills but felt 'off' all day. Can't escape the conclusion that avoiding alcohol altogether makes it worse. If I could isolate whatever it is in alcohol that's protective, I reckon all our fortunes would be made.

motherinferior · 21/07/2014 19:58

I made an enormous salad nicoise. DD2 and I enjoyed some of it, now DD1 is eating it (she had youth theatre) and DP has just come in. DD2 will eat any leftovers tomorrow for lunch. She's got the Leavers' Disco which finishes at 6.30, rock'n'rooooooooooll.

motherinferior · 21/07/2014 20:06

(Obviously I am not in the class of the DD1's BF's mum, who offers Mexican Snacks and mocktails whenever they go round. DD1 is most impressed with the Mexican Snacks, and mentions them on frequent, pointed occasions.) Grin

herbaceous · 21/07/2014 20:15

Went to Institute of Education to do my DRB check today, and it took about 10 minutes, rather than the two hours I was fearing. This left me with copious time to lunch alone (sushi), wander round the shops, and explore the redevelopment of Kings Cross (behind the curve). A warehouse in which I attended a rave is now a swanky restaurant.

DS school sitch seems to be getting worse. Chats have been had with the worst-offending bully boys, but now nearly all the boys seem to chase him around the playground in order to 'fight' him, or pull him over. He doesn't want to go back to school after the holidays. Letter to head and next term's teacher are being drafted. Investigations into new schools are in train.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2014 20:18

That's horrible Herbs. I have horrid memories of a forlorn DD1 sitting on the Friendship Bench aged 5, waiting for someone to ask her to play with them. Sad

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2014 20:25

QQ I feel your pain! It gets worse before it gets better - I hope you are better organised than me, I spent all my time searching boxes for some implement/foodstuff. And got fed up with not even being able to organise breakfast!

Oh Herbs, that's horrid. You are right to look for a possible new school. He is a lovely bubbly little chap and I'm sure he will find like-minded friends if not at this school, at another.

motherinferior · 21/07/2014 20:39

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2014 21:03

What MI says. Find your sweet boy another school if they aren't gripping it. It's often not too difficult to find a place in year 1.

Stropperella · 21/07/2014 21:57

What a bunch of little arses, Herbs. And it would seem that the teachers are feeble. Angry

Lovely day at the beach today with some friends I met on the internet quite a long time ago and haven't seen for about 5 years. Our dds seem to get on well and friend's dp was an absolute star at playing energetic games with ds. Dh had to stay at home and work because something came in this morning and work has been so thin on the ground recently we couldn't afford for him to turn it down. I did a rather big fail on the application of suncream and ds is rather pink - although thankfully he was wearing his wetsuit, so it's not as bad as it might have been. I have a glow in the dark Rudolph nose and dd is scarlet in places. I did try to apply cream to her, but she was being silly and telling me to go away. So I did. Body-boarding was fun, picnic had no sand in it and ice cream and fish and chips were very yum indeed. Weather was completely glorious.

I am sporting a fine, crusty lump on my face where the gp froze a solar keratosis last week. Very attractive.

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2014 22:03

Stropps, that sounds like a mighty fine day! I have just booked tickets for DD and 3 mates to go to Brighton on Thurs - her birthday celebration. I'm a bit nervous, but I'm sure they'll be fine... Must make sure they take and use suncream!
